Hello forum, I have a form of ADHD and I started taking Ritalin for a few weeks. I commonly hear Ritalin getting prescribed to kids so I was wondering why. Why isn't it so popular for adults? Are neurologists/psychiatrists reticent in prescribing it for adults? Thank you!

Is there anything being developed to replace chemotherapy? Many people die because of the treatment (chemo) they get to 'cure' them. People with a recurring cancer are often to weak to survive a new treatment. I found an interesting paper which states that trehalose can induce autophagy in mammalian cells. Trehalose has also been reported to have a cytoprotective effects on cells subjected to various stressors, including oxidative damage, dehydration and temperature changes.https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4916512/ This paper talks about trehalose-based compounds as novel inhibitors of cancer cell migration and invasion.https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.…

Has anyone had one removed? How long am I not going to be able to use my arm for demanding physical activites? I've heard at least a month. Is that like the 3 weeks you're not supposed to smoke for after wisdom teeth removal or are you actually unable to use your arm for that long? I realize I'm not supposed to ask for medical advice, I just a bit of personal experience.

Hello, I'm looking for substitutes to caffeine. A friend told me that vegetable juices raise one's alkaline levels. Raised alkaline levels are supposed to increase oxygen levels and higher energy levels. Is any of this true? Are there other substitutes to caffeine for raising one's energy levels and alertness?

I used to suffer from incredibly painful headaches/migraines to the point where I was physically sick. The pain was directly targeting parts of my head. Most recently I can feel these pressure buildups but without the pain. I have also noticed that they are lingering on for longer. I am worried if this continues I will become a slave to the pain that is lingering but not felt. What can I do to feel this pain? Also would this have something to do with the blood brain barrier?

Hello everyone I was wondering something while designing a diagnostic model for brain tumours for my thesis ... Suppose you have two tests do differentiate high-grade tumours from low-grade tumours. Let's call these tests A and B. Test A checks whether tumoural metabolism exceeds a predefined threshold, let's say alpha. Let's say that test A measures averaged metabolism value of all cells exceeding 1.5 times background metabolism value. When this averaged metabolism value exceeds alpha, test A is positive. Test B checks whether tumoural metabolism exceeds a higher predefined threshold, let's say beta. Let's say that test B measures averaged metabolis…

Sorry that this is such a dumb question, a friend wanted me to ask on here. If theoretically, it was possible to throw up your whole stomach (ripping apart from everything else), what in detail would happen to your body as you die? Thanks.

Hey all, So, I have a theory on asexual reproduction. Unfortunately, this only works for males and not females. Anyways, stem cells are used to replicate any cell in the human body. Would it be possible to use male sperm to synthesize an egg then impregnate the egg with another sperm cell? Let me know what you all think and if my theory could be true. Between the few people that I have talked with, some agree that it would work and some don't. Thanks for reading!

Hello everyone, I have this friend who has a slight strabismus. His eyes look away from me when speaking, but that means he is actually looking at me. I can understand how these people, brains may learn to ignore certain images and adapt to this condition. But how can his eyes physically look away from me, and still see me. Also in a case where both eyes are crossed, wouldn't it be almost impossible to see properly. Thank you

I've seen some talk of blue light being bad for eyes and the circadian rhythm and it all, based on nothing but intuition, felt like bunk with no scientific backing. Is there actually any legitimate science behind this?

I still don't see why pizza is unhealthy... it's just bread, cheese, tomato, olives and salami.. what's wrong with that? If you had bread cheese, tomato and sausage on a plate with some bread and olives you'd say it was a nice healthy lunch (apart from the sausage maybe)... put it together as a pizza and everyone says it's bad for you.

My knees have been hurting me for a long time. Now they seem to be getting worse. I don't understand why but it's seriously starting to worry me since walking is starting to hurt. What should I do? Should I go see a doctor? I go on the inversion table every day I wonder if that helps the knees. Anybody else have bad knees?
