I mean extreme scores of the Big Five traits. Someone who scores lets say in the 10th highest percentile in Extraversion and 20th percentile in Openness is not disabled but their needs and preferred lifestyle are very different compared to an average person and trying to squeeze them into mainstream society would be quite difficult.

The personality trait conscientousness involves being hard working and doing things that aren't intristically interesting. What motivates people to do that? Is the reward system active in highly conscientous people just as it is during pleasant things?

Some people have naturally very low reward sensitivity and are less motivated by reward or punishment In case of neurotic disorders the goal is to strengthen activity in the Prefrontal Cortex and hippocampal neurogenesis with things such as ketamine, allopregnanolone or regular SSRIs even. How do we do the same with reward system?

If you guys have met people with extremely low level of Openness to Experience, what are they like? Also what do you think would people with unusual Big Five combinations be like? Like someone who is very low on intellectual curiosity but very high on aesthetic sensitivity/creativity?

Did any of you guys try to estimate what Big Five traits of some historical figures might have been? i have tried for Hitler - Neuroticism - above average, average/low on depression-anxiety, high on angry hostility, vulnerability and self consciousness - Extraversion - average or high, most probably moderately high - Openness - low. moderately above average on intellectual curiosity, below average on everything else Conscientousness - low. He was known for being lazy and could only work on few things that mattered to him, i.e. his political cause Agreeableness - low. Only good for a small group of people, a bastard for everyone else

Do you think being high in systemizing makes people better at judging other people's personalities? Systemizing is the ability to see patterns in the world and a drive to analyze and create systems based on logical principles. When applied to people it means seeing patterns in human behavior. I myself have a combination of high systemizing + low trust and I am considered a good judger of people

Is anyone aware of any studies looking into the IQ of various political groups? Just left vs right would be interesting, but if there's a study that slices the groups more finely than that, that would be even better.

[see attached diagram picture to this post] I developed a diagram of human psychology and its fields in a big picture based on my perspective / perception of human psychology. It shows how each group and / or field relation / entail by or to each other. I personally do not know much about human psychology, tbh. Except the relation / relationship between fields was on my mind for a while now. I felt compelled to develop it in order to see what it looks like in a big picture manner. It is a part of my misc / hobby activity. I thought you guys might like to see it, if not then fine. I figured maybe the goal is to learn or gain a different perspective of human …

WARNING: Vulgar language in above video. According to the (otherwise loosely) based on a true story movie Wolf Of Wall Street, quaaludes were invented as a sedative for housewives with sleep disorders. I don't doubt that there's a lot of work to being a house-spouse, but of all the things they had to worry about, I would think sleeping at the right time would be the least of their worries; people with scheduled jobs need to sleep certain hours so they can work other hours, but wouldn't a house-spouse's schedule be flexible enough that one wouldn't need to do as many tasks at specific times of day so long as they get done later in the day (or night if need be)?…

It has nothing to do with what plumbing they use, and everything to do with psychology. I know a lot of people deny there are any differences psychologically between the genders, how the perceive information, etc, simply because there are exceptions, but I think it's ludicrous not to use the information I know. A lot of these differences are also not simply there because of sexism and bigotry, they're there because of hormones. And, unsurprisingly, what might not hurt a man may hurt a woman, or vice versa. When I'm with my male friends, and one of us does something stupid, they're gonna get called stupid and we're all gonna laugh about it. When I'm wi…

In what way does having different inherent personalities contribute for the survival and prosperity of humans as a species, throughout the process(right term?) of evolution? As I understand personality is a combination of nature and nurture, but I'm referring more to the nature side. Also, bear in mind, nature also influences how we respond to the nurture part. So the same factors, will influence the nurture aspect of personality-building differently. Surely, specific kinds of personality will be more useful to survive and procreate, so shouldn't that have funneled down throughout human evolution? Just as we look so similar physically, shouldn't we…

I sleep very deeply, I cannot be wakened by water sometimes (i was taken to the hospital one time because of that, im 100% healthy) In the mornings I have noticed when I am being woken up I am still in my dreams. For instance this morning I was still in my dream in the manner that I was trying to find the second part of "getting out of bed" and I had no idea what the meaning of the phrase was, nor where I could find it and I had the understanding that I already had the first part of "getting out of bed" not knowing what the first part was either. Both parts were somehow part of my last dream and I am not sure where I was looking but I was definately trying to figu…

Ketamine has been a breakthrough in psychiatry, it produces fast and dramatic improvements in a myriad of mental health conditions, including major depression, anxiety disorders, ocd and bpd likely as well. The downside is that those dramatic effects wean off in a matter of one to several weaks. Why is that so?

Do the stereotypical nerds and geeks really exist? I am talking about socially awkward timid loners who are also highly intelligent in Science, Mathematics, and Problem Solving. What happens to them later in real life? Do they really end up as unemployed or menial workers because of their lack of social skills?
