By the way, Sayonara and others.....I'm off to Paris on a work related thing....how cool is that!!! Except I'll probably get hideously lost on the old metro system. Off to see a person who can do PCR on phenomenally small amounts of DNA.

found this in yahoo news message board which is typically filled with racist comments about muslims and flame wars between libs and cons. but i found this gem. dont know where the author got it from. CHANGE A LIGHT BULB? TEN: 1. One to deny that a light bulb needs to be changed. 2. One to attack the patriotism of anyone who says the light bulb needs to be changed. 3. One to blame Clinton for burning out the light bulb. 4. One to tell the nations of the world that they are either: "For changing the light bulb or for darkness." 5. One to give a billion dollar no-bid contract to Halliburton for the new light bulb. 6. One to arrange a photogra…

SAT is in the morning. That means I have to get up early and spend three hours filling in bubbles. At least I don't have to write an essay. Sucks to be the next group of people taking it. Wait, I am good at essays. Damn, we need one.

I was thinking today about the way humans (generally speaking) view themselves as a seperate entity to nature. I mean we refer to things like artificial and man made but really we are a product of nature so everything we think about or create etc is a reflection of nature. What i am trying to get at is, is the universe in some way self understanding or using seemingly intelligent beings to self regulate as (theoretically speaking) we could one day alter large parts of the universe. U could also argue that global warming (which is attributed to man) is really what the earth is doing to itself as we have evolved due to the thing which we are now destroying. I know it is a…

I was watching a Discovery channel thing yesterday and here's a summary of it. When she was a little girl, she saw a ghost named Mr. Gordi. Her parents called a parapsychologist William Roll over to investigate. He showed her 10 pictures of men that could've been the man Heidi, the girl, described. Heidi picked out the picture of Mr. Gordi, a man who died on the property years before the family moved in. William Roll then talks something about "place memories" where energies are stored or something I can't remember. In other words, spirits or fragments of their memories remain. Years later, Heidi and her dad continuously have claw marks on them. Heidi sees a s…

We recently completed a lab in biology concerning diffusion. We placed half of a carrot in fresh water and half of a carrot in salt water. We observed that the carrot in the salt water lost mass, and the carrot in fresh water gained mass. One of the discussion questions is would you get the same results with a potatoe? I am not sure about the answer. My thoughts are that you wouldn't b/c of the different skins. Please help me out!

Ok, so recently, Ive been recieving loads of mail from "Get rich off your opinions", and "Take a 1 min survey and get $10!!!" SPAM. I usually just delete them all. But when I upgraded my WeatherBug subscription, I was taken to one website for a Survey for Rewards program. http://new7.mysurvey.com/ Here's what Im wondering...are they legitimate? Do they actually give you a prize for getting some incredible amount of points? Has anyone here, or someone you know ever gotten anything?

I made this thread so we can all trade extra scientific 'stuff' that we don’t need anymore. You can post anything you’re willing to trade here including elements, chemicals, and equipment. You can also post if you’re looking for something specific but don’t see it listed. If you no longer have the item to trade please remove your post. If you see something you want pm the person with your offer unless the person specified what they want in return in which case you should pm them and make the arrangements. Ill start by saying that I have: Several feet of magnesium ribbon, and lab grade aluminum, lead, and copper shot. About 50 .05cm x 1cm x 1.2cm reagent…
