  1. There are some technical details that are glossed over or simplified to the point that they're wrong in the link.

  2. Studiot, when the last time you were playing with LEDs (3mm or 5mm).. ? They have max recommended current 25mA...30mA.. And you want to give them 90...100 mA? With 9 V? e.g. https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9590 "1.8-2.2VDC forward drop Max current: 20mA Suggested using current: 16-18mA Luminous Intensity: 150-200mcd"

  3. It is amazing how so many people are polarised by this topic: religion either did nothing but evil or it has never done any harm. Is it really that hard to see the truth is somewhere in the middle?

  5. I think some photography apps allow shutter speed control on phones. But it brought you the magic of how technology can interact in curious and interesting ways. When it comes to wonder, science easily beats magic Since ultrasonic motors don't use ultrasound, this is extremely unlikely.

  6. William Lane Craig has recently been accused of plagiarizing parts of his Masters thesis. The following two part video presents the evidence(the title is a bit misleading; it's a joke from the channel): It seems to me that it's fairly clear-cut that he in fact plagiarized these parts of his thesis. If he did plagiarize, what are the possible repercussions? Can his Masters degree be revoked? We have: "The achievements of this century and its predecessors in the modern period have made it possible for the majority of Western men to emancipate themselves from the numerous restrictions that afflicted men in past centuries."-Easton "The achievements of this century, and indeed, the modern period as a whole have made it possible for the majority of Western men and women to liberate themselves from the numerous restrictions that shackled persons living in past centuries."-WLC and we have: "The individualism that we notice as early as the Renaissance, but which could be in the possession of only a few in that age, has now become possible for the majority."-Easton "The individualism that sprang from the Renaissance, but which could be the possession of only an elite few in that age, has now become possible for the majority."-WLC This isn't even good plagiarism; it is middle school level copy/paste-modify type plagiarism.

  7. That was one of the most simplistic and not to mention wrong summary of a huge set of different cultures with vast regional differences. And even if we assume that collectivist mindset is correct, how do you imagine such a family? A merger of the families? What if several sons/daughters are married? Are they now a super collective? What is the role of the newly-weds? where are they integrated? How would it work in rural areas? How in urban? No, family structure is usually closely aligned with certain aspects such as property laws and inheritance. Even by talking to one or two married Asians (of whatever region) you can easily gain insights that go far above the stories you made up.

  8. You have to look into the motives of the pro-gun lobby. To them, the problem is that there are bad people out there and the solution is to throw more guns at the problem. If you throw more guns at the problem, they get more money from the arms makers who finance them. More guns = more money. Less guns = less money and power.

  9. That struck me too. Edit: Contrary to commonsense, coffee beans lighten with longer roasting times. A 'light' roast has been roasted longer: it pertains to the final colour. "Today I learned...."

  10. Click image to enlarge. Short version: Safe daily intake level of acrylamide before carcinogenic levels was estimated to be 2.6μg/kg per day (42). To put this into perspective, this would be equivalent of 182μg safe daily intake of acrylamide for a 70kg person. This person would need to drink 404 cups or 64 liters of roasted coffee brew in a day to reach carcinogenic levels. We can’t even drink that much water in a day. You need to drink 64 liters of roasted coffee brew a day to reach carcinogenic levels. https://www.authoritydiet.com/acrylamide-coffee-cancer-heart-disease-risk/

  11. It is clear that your English is not perfect so here is the answer to the question I think you originally wanted to ask, which equivalent to "What happens if you apply the Lorenz tranformation twice (or many times)?" Mathematically that means "what happens if you compose Lorenz tranformations as in acceleration?" Well if you make the substitutions and do the algebra you find that you have another Lorenz transformation. That is the Lorenz transformation is an eigenfunction of the system.

  12. That a MSR with molten fuel can't melt down is a semantic game. A meltdown is a concern because it represents a loss of containment. (and not all MSRs have molten fuel) The claim here is that there is emergency cooling. Well, why wouldn't that protect other reactors? That's not something inherently safe about this design, it's a safety feature that's added. Any reactor has to have decay heat removed. If you don't remove it, the reactor heats up. Whether that's a problem, or how much of a problem, depends on details. The bit about "the fuel will solidify if there's a leak" glosses over multiple issues. Some fission products are gases, and decay heat means things might not solidify quickly.

  13. ! Moderator Note If you think a post should be moved to speculation, you should report it to the staff, rather than take it upon yourself to enforce rule. The post links to the source material, and asks followup questions. It is not personal subjective speculation. ! Moderator Note Try not to be obtuse And focus on the discussion at hand, rather than the people involved.

  14. 1) make more photos.. 10+... Various angles.. various distances. 2) make videos... move slowly during making them. 3) try different smartphone and/or regular camera to see whether effect is appearing with them or not. 4) does it appear in preview on screen? On photo there is visible paper box, and center of image in nearly at the corner of this box, and bars looks like interference pattern. On this video you can see how sound can affect water: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tI6S5CS-6JI

  15. https://www.techly.com.au/2018/03/21/nasa-just-found-way-fire-voyager-1s-thrusters-37-years-inactivity/ NASA just found a way to fire up Voyager 1’s thrusters after 37 years of inactivity After almost 40 years of inactivity, NASA engineers have managed to fire up the backup thrusters of the Voyager 1 spacecraft, the only human-made object in interstellar space. Voyager 1 was sent into space on September 5, 1977 to study the outer reaches of the Solar System as part of the Voyager program, and the sturdy craft still communicates with NASA to receive routine commands and return data. In fact, anyone can check out the most basic data it transmits in real time on the official Voyager website. Moving at more than 56,000 kilometres per hour, the craft traverses some 1,400,000 kilometres through space each day. Right now, it’s more than 21 billion kilometres away from Earth. The ultimate test was performed this past November NASA’s engineers fired up the four thrusters and patiently waited 19 hours for the results to be transmitted back to Earth. more at link.......https://www.techly.com.au/2018/03/21/nasa-just-found-way-fire-voyager-1s-thrusters-37-years-inactivity/ <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This action of course was done to align the crafts attena for the continuing transmission of info back to Earth. The craft over the many years incurs external forces due to dust and other stellar debris so it needs to be orientated properly. Incredible stuff!

  17. One day I was walking and i had an idea in when i was thinking about how the quantum level relates to reality and then, I thought what if superposition and it proprieties act as a transistor like the ones we have in our computer what if quantum level is a gate way for reality. I was also thinking what would happen if all life from in space did not exist what would happen to that space. i mean like a cardboard but is not empty, there are micro organisms and other Batista in the air If you have read this post please give me an incite on this subject is it a possibility that quantum world is like the transistor that we have in our computer , can quantum theory answer my what if question? I have not stuyed this subject that much but i so have some basic knowledge around this field

  18. It seems to me that the view that "Religion is bad" is deeply entrenched here and not amiable to any sort of real discussion. I believe that many of the position stated here are not well thought out, and the existing discussion goes around the same sometimes ridiculous points again and again (On ‎29‎/‎03‎/‎2018 at 4:51 itoero blaming the Jews for the holocaust was a particularly low point) Since I see no point in continuing, I shall no longer post on this topic. Hopefully some readers will reconsider their positons on this topic - I can only say that Religion can be a great source of person strength and comfort. Best wishes.

  19. I don't blame the Jews for the holocaust, I blame Hitler and the nazi's. it's historical science. If Judaism didn't spread to Europe then they could not be killed in Europe could they?

  20. Stop spreading your emotional inclined nonsense. The Jews did not kill themselves, they are not to blame. But if they were not there then hey could not be killed so the holocaust could not have happened.
