  1. Directly in an equivalent common English phrase, it probably means "It is what is and we can't change it"... C'est ce que c'est et on ne peut pas le changer (from Google Translate). Ours is an expression of resignation. We usually just say "It is what it is"

  2. As of a few minutes ago, I went ahead and merged many of the threads and posts regarding Coronavirus into three threads: I understand that many have questions regarding coronavirus / COVID-19, but I think we can do without 20 different threads on the topic. To reduce clutter, I have created the above threads, and would ask members to please direct their questions / findings to the relevant one. If anyone objects or thinks I have missed something, please let me know. I myself am working from home; time is a luxury I have far too much of at the moment.

  3. I hate to barge in on you like this, I just wanted to say that when I have to leave the house I started to carry a full sized window bottle sprinkler 500ml capacity filled with 70% ethanol. I’m officially living in a g damned scifi novel.

  5. Studies, including those in the link show an exponential decline within hours (with longer time on plastic surface). While you can recover active particles after a day or so, the number is greatly reduced (and will also depend on humidity temperature and other factors). You are also diluting the amount if you touch it and then touch your face, as each time there is less transfer. But as a whole it does not mean much more than wash your hands after touching stuff.

  6. Same as above. Read about memory_info available in process class. What is your requirement? The process class will get you the virtual memory used by that process. You seem to want to know how much free memory there is left?

  7. Do you expect the free disk space to be depending on the process? If you perform a call to measure the CPU load from the process and the process performs no work then 0.0 seems normal?

  8. Well the use of Majorana spinors etc isn't an issue. It can simplify modelling the charge neutral particles in so far as the effective degrees of freedom and creation and annihilation operators. The creation and annihilation operators for a Majorana particle is identical. Which means the two frequency modes are also identical. This property greatly simplifies numerous calculations as you can exclude antisymmetric relations. Now the only fermion that might qualify would be the neutrino, however this is still an open debate. Part of the problem is the missing right hand neutrinos.

  9. Good that you pointed that out! (Reading the trace is one of those things I "just do" without thinking). Interpreting the error messages for python is similar to other environments, it is a useful skill to have in your "set of tools" when tracking down errors and bugs. Here is a link that may help https://realpython.com/python-traceback/. Good to know. If you apply what we said regarding the first problem above, do you see what is causing the error? If you check the psutil documentation (for instance at the link you provided) what does it say about disk usage? If you check the reference in your code (https://github.com/giampaolo/psutil/blob/master/scripts/disk_usage.py) how and why is that code different that yours? edit: Please review your requirement; if your program had worked you would probably have got the disk usage for a single process, not the disk usage for a mount point (they may differ)

  10. Disk usage appears to be an attribute of psutil, not pustil.Process: https://psutil.readthedocs.io/en/latest/#psutil.disk_usage

  11. Hope you dilute it down to 60-80 % first. There is an antibody based test (several actually) but not sure how well it works and whether they are put to test yet. So far all reinfections are suspected to be failure in tests. There is no strong evidence that folks get sick again (for now).

  12. I have read your papers already. I found them lacking in critical details. This is something one must be prepared for when defending a model. Lets put it this way I have a Masters degree in Cosmology which my focus of big bang nucleosynthesis required me to also pick up a degree in particle physics. Now I do not state the above to boast, this site does have a few PH. D physicists. Now here is the interesting part, I do not care if your model is right or wrong provided there is viability So the question I put forward to you is do you wish to advance your conjecture in the proper physics methodology which requires the relevant mathematics? Or do you feel your random assertions are sufficient? You will note I have already provided examples where your strands can be modeled via the link I provided. The question I have is are you prepared to do the necessary steps ? PS I may sound angry but personally I do not care what you believe. I simply wish to know if I am wasting my time in providing guidance to help you develop a strong robust model. Now on a more personal note I don't visit forums to advertise or seek answers. I visit forums to help teach. I never teach personal views or thoughts. Everything I state I am prepared to defend via textbook answers or peer reviewed material. I do have a further advantage in that I have been doing physics for 35 years or so. Lol my own dissertation was long ago proven wrong. Though back then I only had COBE data to work from. WMAP and Planck data wasn't available. Life goes on.

  13. We’ve been hoarding ignorance for decades in this country. Planting and cultivating it. Harvest time is now here. What matters most to me is what we plant next season once the proverbial soil is tilled.

  15. Good points. It is always a good idea to think about what the error message says and how it relates to the code you have written. Sometimes error messages are really unhelpful, but usually they give you a good clue to where the problem is. Python error messages can be confusing because they show a traceback through the calls that called the program. Usually, the last line of code referenced ("line 16, in system_info" in this example) is where the problem is (occasionally, it might be that the problem is further back because of how the function was called or the parameters it was passed). And the very last line indicates the nature of the problem.

  18. Are governments going to start declaring martial law in reaction to the Coronavirus Crisis? It is a perfect excuse to seize power by declaring martial law. Trump is already calling himself a "wartime president" in a "war" against the virus. He doesn't want to leave office because then he can be prosecuted for obstruction of justice and congress. He must stay in office, so is there a chance he may declare martial law, cancel the November elections and stay in office? He believes the "tough" people are on his side. In riots over cancelled elections, Trump has the military, the police, and the bikers to battle against protesters.

  19. Yes and the best source to look for research is Dr. Stephanie Seneff, Senior Professor MIT. In 1918 Spanish flu they would lay out patients in the sun not realizing that the sulfur from the sun changes as it goes through the skin into cholestrol sulfate and yes it does kill viruses. In fact, around every cell is a gel made up of cholestrol sulfate which is the means that all nutrients travel throughout the body. Many people, because they drink RO water add organic sulfur to their water. Another research was done on elecampane at Cork University showing it also kills MRSA and works to address lung issues. There is another research that has been hidden for twenty years and it is one on aloe vera. Aloe vera has to be stabilized in order to work pass four hours as most all people already know that use it for burns. What they did not realize is to stabilize, one has to cut gel out of plant and throw into the freezer to keep it stabilized. Dr. Reg McDaniel, YouTube spoke to the Colorado House where he shows the cells created by aloe are 400 times larger and the only thing they could name them is Gee cells. Wake Forest currently uses this technology to regrow body parts - another research you can view online. I was testing a product made from liquid pine trees and sent the product to Georgia to have the university test for glycans and it showed to have six out of the nine. I believe this is why vitamin c also shows to address viruses. The plants that vitamin c come from all are high in glycans.
