  1. I would like to create a little room here for the wonderfully unexpected, beautiful,... (add your adjective) in Nature. Unexpected and/or beautiful could be interpreted as curious/spectacular, or similar. I mean to use these examples in order to keep the kids interested in Nature. The youngest ones get bored very easily. Examples could be: a rare animal, plant or protist, an almost unbelievably beautiful geological phenomenon, an amazingly complicated molecule that looks like a tinker-toy assembly, spectacular phenomena in water eddies and such. You get the idea. My getting-started examples: Glasswinged butterfly A family of butterflies that eat poisonous leaves when they're caterpillars and grow transparent wings. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greta_oto Rainbow Eucalyptus tree A species of tree that looks as if somebody had Photoshop-painted them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eucalyptus_deglupta Maths are also welcome. Things that look paradoxical like 0.9999999... = 1 would be the idea. I'm sure people will enrich this with possibilities I'm not foreseeing.

  2. If you believed something was true, but also knew that others would be demoralized and angry at you for sharing that truth, should you stay quiet or lie about it instead?

  5. You didn't rethink your statement comprehensively... How do you know? What will remain of the present civilization for future generations ...? Nothing. Because you don't write in stone.. You record data on tapes, diskettes, CD, DVD, pendrive.. after several years they won't be readable.. You release the most valuable newspapers news behind pay-wall. You make everything for money. You make everything accessible only by CAPTCHA. Which means automatically scanning bots cannot archive data. (ordinary user don't know that CAPTCHA often activates when scanning bot tries to archive server data, after a few too quick attempts.. they're starting appearing on normal websites which are accessible to human, with regular rate of access) If somebody won't pay, company, government, person, won't release details. So, the majority of information, will be lost as soon as you're dead, or sooner. Somebody after 50-100 years will have doubts you ever existed. You could be just computer program, chatbot, pretending the real human, and writing here. You could be artificial intelligence, making fake news from the past. You will be lucky to end up so.. If you will be unlucky, nobody will ever hear about your existence.. To joigus second (actually n-th) incarnation in 2200 (or 4200) will say the same as you now, I will just copy'n'paste my post from now.. I will just change a couple bits to fit the modern time.. Good old copy'n' paste! What I would do without it..

  6. The Religion section is a better place to make the argument. Evolution isn't magic.

  7. No, he's not, and I pointed out both places where he's using sloppy definitions to make his argument seem worthy. Nothing exists as potential. Potential requires that it doesn't exist yet. You're wrong here, as well. There is NOTHING in nature that can't be explained without an intelligent designer.

  8. So, modern science disowns its ancestry for commercial interests-- and ancient science/philosophy did not? I think you ought to do some research on ancient societies and ask yourself how the ancient scientists/philosophers had the time to do what they did without needing to work all the time to support themselves. Think about the role of patrons and rulers. The patrons and rulers saw an advantage, commercial and/or political, in supporting the activities. Lets go waaaay back in the pursuit of science and invention. Had the wheel no commercial value?

  11. And you have evidence that modern science has not only been infiltrated by commercial interests, but in a way that invalidates science? Otherwise, why does it matter that there are commercial applications of science? What’s the pathway for flawed science resulting in a product that works?

Calbuco Volcano is located in the lakes region south of Santiago, Chile’s capital city and is one of the 10 most dangerous volcanoes in the country. After more than 40 years of inactivity, the day April 23 the volcano erupts, spewing more than 200 million tons of ash https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/photos/national-geographic-photo-contest-2015/image-gallery/a2afa2087ecd4f4d62475d231b129e31

  16. He's right, but making a poor job explaining it. Before there could be stars, there had to be atoms, and before that a big bang. Everything can be traced back to a more primitive state with potential for the next step.

  17. I have tried discussing this before but my threads are always shut down. After shutting the last one down I got a message for the admins saying I should lead with the evidence. Well the first thing you need to read is this: https://writings.stephenwolfram.com/2020/04/finally-we-may-have-a-path-to-the-fundamental-theory-of-physics-and-its-beautiful/ The big bang has had its time, everytime the data has falisfied it, its been saved by adding a modern day epicycle, inflation and dark matter being examples of this, there is no underlying reason for them they are just there to balance the equations. The LHC has produced nothing new and scientists say nature is not giving them any clues. Its about time we had a serious discussion about 'why' reality is mathematical because the theory I am proposing self-evidently explains 'why' reality is mathematical, not only physically, but metaphyscially. Now the key in the last sentence is 'self-evident' because the admins asked me to lead with the evidence, well the theory IS the evidence. If some is murdered police will gather evidence and develop a theory as to what happened, that is what scientists are doing at the moment. However, if you see or film the murder there is no need to develop a theory because you know what happened. And that is what it is like with this theory. And its a little different to current theories because if true it would not be a theory, it would be a fact, it would be the final truth about the universe and would put an end to theological and theoretical ideas about the universe. I can reduce physics to a single object, a unit of polymorphic spacetime of which the universe is entirely composed. This implements the rule Wolfram is looking for. Now you can close my thread down if you want, I am indifferent to what I consider poor attitudes towards other peoples perspectives in the scientific community. But let start here, please tell me 'why' reality is mathematical, if you cant, show some humility and open your minds to what I am presenting.
