I found out today that God is MASSIVELY in favour of the death penalty. I looked up Onanism, (after a reference to masturbation) and it's a pretty good read. Judah had two sons, Er and Onan. God slew Er because he was wicked. Case closed. The death penalty is moral. Although of course, being God, he would KNOW without any doubt that Er was indeed guilty of being wicked. We mere mortals convict on REASONABLE certainty, so there is always that bit of uncertainty I guess. But in cases where there is no doubt at all, then the death penalty is moral, because God didn't just say so, he actually performed the execution himself. God then spoke to Er's younger brother, Onan, and told him to have sex with Er's widow. Onan did as he was told, but he pulled his willie out, before he came, and ejaculated on the ground. So God slew him as well. It seems he was a real fan of capital punishment. So Onan not only got killed, but he suffered the indignity of giving his name to masturbation, even though his crime was actually just pulling out. The story then follows Tamar, the widow of Er that Onan was supposed to get pregnant. She asked Judah if she could marry another of his sons, but he said no. So she dressed up as a prostitute, covered her face with a veil, and met up with Judah on his travels. Not knowing it was his daughter-in-law, Judah negotiated a price for sex with this "prostitute" , I think it was one goat, and Tamar got pregnant by him. Later, when it became obvious that Tamar was pregnant, Judah said that he would kill the man who got her pregnant, and Tamar produced the goat. So Judah realised that he had actually vowed to kill himself. It's all there in the good book. Lots of stuff that I didn't know about God. Particularly, how right wing he actually is when it comes to the death penalty. Truly, the Lord is a Republican !!

This is about the new UK Highway Code, I presume. I don't think anyone suggests that pedestrians or cyclists should change their behaviour, just because vehicle drivers are now told to treat them with priority. The object, as I understand it, is to improve the safety of the more vulnerable road users. But they should continue to take sensible precautions, as today. I am reminded of the advice given to new boys at my school's rowing club: "In theory, powered vessels give way to sailing craft and sailing craft give way to those propelled by oars. However it is advisable not to test either of these theories too closely."

One wonders what other debt/credit systems were available for career whores. Let's take the case of Alice. At some point, she's going to have all the goats she needs. So the next client, Bob, who offers a goat payment, she needs him to provide some sort of IOU instead. Then, say, she needs a new bed a while later. She's a whore, so her beds wear out. She takes the one-goat paper to the carpenter, Ray. He can be compensated by transferring the goat paper, which he can take to Bob and get a goat. But what if Ray is also not needing a goat? Then he will trade the Bob IOU to someone else. Anyway, biblically, it all works out ethically because there is no usury - i.e. interest. The debt, however it transfers, remains one goat. This seems important here, since you don't want Lucille the seamstress (who is the seventh recipient of the Bob goat IOU) to show up and say, gosh Bob, this IOU is dated over a year ago....maybe we take an extra leg off one other goat, too?

Concerning the communication question, the Ariel School encounter circa 1994 offers some interesting clues. In that encounter, witnesses described a physical alien craft landing on the outer perimeter of their school in remote Ruwa, Zimbabwe. Several extraterrestrial beings emerged which then interacted with the students telepathically, projecting images into their consciousness of dire environmental destruction awaiting mankind, if humanity does not change course and amend their actions. (Video clip of this encounter posted below). The reference to telepathic communication by these witnesses is notable. Projecting images into another being's consciousness would be an extremely effective way to communicate with / influence that being. Human beings use image projection all the time to influence other humans: through television, films, internet memes, photography, virtual reality, and of course through written and spoken language. Affecting another person's imagination, or you could say their inner mental model of reality, is also a very effective way of influencing that person's behavior. Human beings remember sequences of images easier than abstract concepts, which is why most people naturally remember television shows and movies. It's also interesting that children were the chosen recipients of this message. It seems the aliens were intent on creating a level of communication that would impact human behavior on a species level, i.e. transcend the individual experience and resonate with us collectively as a species. Inducing permanent species level change is no small task, especially when humanity is concerned. First, think of all the ways that wouldn't work: landing their spaceship in Times Square would only induce terror and fighter jets. Speaking to government leaders at the top of the power hierarchy would probably be useless and result in suppression of the message. Even engaging with one particular nation directly would be very dangerous, since human beings are essentially territorial apes, and the perception of alien intervention in favor of one superpower might result in all out war (as was the premise of the movie "Arrival"). But children on a playground who will tell their story in an unbiased manner? Such a situation might be the right set of circumstances to allow the information in the message to resonate collectively over time in an uncorrupted way. Possible reasons why children were chosen for the communication: Children are less likely to respond with physical violence Children more open/receptive to the communication (won't become terrified and run away) Possible Long Term Effects of the Interaction The children will grow up and spread their message to others, information resonates over time If the interaction garners enough credibility, that is, the public believes this was a real encounter, the gravity of the event may be enough to induce species level change

It's not adapting for atmospheric effects, since there is none in space. It is for making remote on-site assembly corrections. It's that technique that allows the mirror to be so big. You couldn't fold a large sectional mirror, lauch it, and expect it to be aligned automatically on unfolding to the thickness much less than a human hair without it. Compared to the Earth-based ones, which adapt continuously in real-time at many points, it's relatively crude, but it's made such a big space-based mirror possible.

JWT has adaptive optics, which Hubble doesn't have because it wasn't developed then. It was originally developed to counter atmospheric effects affecting Earth-based telescopes. It appears to have been adapted for the JWT in a first, for reasons stated in the quote.

If any advanced Aliens, are on any voyage of discovery through the galaxy, what would be the chances that they are aggressive? Very minimal I suggest, but on the off chance that they are, I suggest they may avoid contact with other reasonably advanced civilisations ( such as us) for fear of damage/retribution on their star ship, that ended their voyage of discovery and all generations on board. Otherwise I envisage a scenario of them landing in some conveneint place, ( not out in the middle of nowhere) and asking the first humans to take me to your leader!!. If any of the unexplained UFO/UAP sightings were Alien controlled, this is what I would suggest would happen...no hiding, no kidnapping, no anal probing, no hiding and flittering in and then flittering out again. On thinking further, perhaps this maybe our own first method of travelling to the stars? (generation type star ships) Particularly if we did observe an extra solar rocky planet similar to Earth. Then we have that other possibility of eventually discovering some sort of warp travel or at least apparent relative speeds approaching light, and setting out and eventually overtaking the generation type star ship that set out a century or so earlier. The mind boggles! In the end, all we can do is wait and see. When will we discover that ETL does exist? Some are suggesting within the next decade or two. That life will not be any advanced being, more likely some basic simple life either in the Ocean's of Europa, or Enceledus. I hope I'm still around when that happens.
