Ah, OK. Got it! So to me what's going on, schematically is, 2SO2 + O2 <> 2SO3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ First equilibrium: 0.3 0.2 1.5 Added SO2 (out of equilibrium): 0.3+0.1x 0.2 1.5 Second equilibrium: 0.3+0.1x-0.1 0.2-0.05 1.5+0.1 So I think the calculation should be, \[ 125=\frac{1.6^{2}}{\left(0.2+0.1x\right)^{2}\left(0.2-0.05\right)} \] Which is, I think, what @Dhamnekar Win,odd meant when they wrote, That is, 0.3-0.1+0.1x instead of 0.3-0.1 +x Am I right?1 point

No, there is 1 mole of new SO2 added. But that will put the system out of equilibrium, so more SO3 will form, consuming some of the oxygen as it does so. As you say, it's Le Chatelier's principle (the chemist's version of Lenz's Law 😀 ).1 point

According to reports, it didn't take long for them to get sick. I don't know how much Russian army has changed since it was Soviet army, but back then, when I was two months in military training, the officers were drunk most of the time.1 point

It seems clear mistermack holds the opinion that the joke was not offensive. It also seems clear that others hold different opinions. Perhaps move on in the recognition that both positions are equally valid.1 point

Much of the waste has also gone missing, thus raising future risk of dirty bomb deployment in population centers.1 point

Would you like to explain, or point to the ridicule in Chris Rock's words? That's what I seem to be missing, so your help would be appreciated. If he did ridicule Jada then he deserved a slap, but I don't seem to be able to find it. You need to remember that quite a lot of people are born without a sense of humour. If you drain the humour out of any quip, you will probably be left with something you could portray as offensive. There's little difference between being having no sense of humour and having cerebral palsy or Type 1 diabetes. Not much the person can do about these things, so best not to make fun of humourless people, you could end up getting slapped !!1 point

Nobody (who matters) cares how educated you are or what your life and living conditions are. All that matters is how you present your ideas and arguments, how you interact with the ideas and arguments of others, and how you respond to correction from others who happen to know more than you on various topics.1 point

Not asking for the sake of personal information, but who was the POTUS when you were born? The worst WH administration, IMO, since I was born (Eisenhower was in his second term as POTUS) was G. W Bush's, and they voted him in for a second term after an unprovoked attack on Iraq in the first term based on "weapons of mass destruction" that did not exist.1 point

Popular science is generally simplified to make the concepts understandable to a non-scientific group of people. Often times it is simplified to the point where it is misleading, and given that popular science writers often don't understand the concepts well themselves, a lot of people end up with misconceptions. Many of the people on this site work or teach in science on a daily basis and love to share what they know. Ask all the questions you wish and tell us what you think. If you think someone here is wrong, it is usually best to ask them for clarification before you suggest they are mistaken. If you do suggest they are mistaken, do so while linking to outside sources that support your position. People here are never shy about telling each other when they've made a mistake. If it happens to you don't take it personally, as it is how people work to arrive at the best answer. Welcome aboard! 😄1 point

I don't remember it happening "all at once" like you guys are saying For years the system has instilled upon the youth that the big bang resulted from the universe's matter being packed together so densely that it reached a critical mass and exploded, sending all of the matter every which way and eventually resulting with the universe being how it supposedly is now, the universe constantly expanding in the sense that everything's yet still being rocketed outward from the origin So for the record I didn't even hear about the universe beginning like this until just now I thought it was... Dang I came up with the idea I was trying to explain here on my own, which is to say, maybe what I can learn here will actually be of some benefit, so I appreciate the offer, and I must enquire re: what you would ask of me in return I guess deep freeze is so new that I haven't managed to learn almost anything about it; whereas heat death of the universe is a theory that has been ridiculed for some time, which I only offhandedly mentioned as an innocent lil joke To MSC: 1. It is a common phrase, I wonder what sort of life you must lead, perhaps very different from my own? 2. "They" certainly are an enigma, who is it pulling all of these strings? Sometimes I can see the strings, even grasp them, and yet to boil it down to who or whatever operates them strikes me as the kind of surprise that will come later. I tend to feel as though worrying about it doesn't do much good for almost anyone 3. Ah well that is appropriate considering how I was lied to, what I thought was the big bang is taught to be so to many others, not just myself 4. Do you notice a pattern in these kinds of contrasting theories? It's as if the more we know, the less we know XD I didn't mean to start off on the wrong foot with you guys, I want to apologize Obviously I'm an uneducated new guy, I didn't mean to present myself as someone who doesn't live on the streets and squalor in poverty and filth I mean I didn't even know that the whole big bang was completely different from what they teach the public. Given this version is what is on wikipedia I must be flat out ignorant. XC I mean it's ironic as hell1 point

It's in bad taste, not due to the severity of the joke (almost negligible) - but for two other reasons. 1. It's about another person's physical appearance. Louie Anderson's weight is not a secret; Joan Rivers' cosmetic surgeries were not a secret - and while they could make fun of themselves, a close friend making fun of them in private would be acceptable - a stranger doing it on national television is offensive. 2. It's at the expense of a non-participant. The celebrity being roasted is fair game but their family members are off limits.1 point

Right now there is more freedom of speech in Russia concerning the Ukraine than has ever existed about most things here in the U.S. For just about everything you think you "know" about anything, just the opposite is probably the case. In this regard, the U.S. is worse than North Korea. But don't take my word for it on the North Korea topic. Take the word of an expert on the matter. www.foxnews.com › us › north-korean-defector-ivyNorth Korean defector says 'even North Korea was not this ... It would appear that I'm not allowed to say anything about the Ukrainian war around here without getting the troll treatment. So I figure, what the hell. I may as well tell you the truth on the matter and go out with a bang. The Ukrainian people have suffered a long and bloody relationship with Russia. That is why the person I will show you a picture of is widely admired there. Because contrary to what you've been brainwashed to believe, he wasn't an invader to the Ukrainians. He was a saviour! To the brainwashed As I said, the Ukrainian people have suffered greatly in the past at the hands of the Russians. Because of what you have been brainwashed to believe, some of that blood is on your hands. You claim to support the Ukrainian people? What a laugh!!! You are enslaved by and support those at who's hands they have suffered. Here is a meme that tells the real history and the reason for it. It is interesting that the current president of the Ukraine is also Jewish. As far as I know, contrary to this meme, Lenin was only part jewish. But the Bolshevik's were indeed mostly if not completely made up of jews. I have a picture of some of them. One of them was a jew named Genrikh Yagoda. He was the head of the NKVD and is said to have personally orchestrated the untimely deaths of at least 10 million people. I will show you a meme of him and what he said. I looked it up myself. He actually did say that. Here is something else to desuds your brainwashed minds. It is a statement by a Nobel Laureate named Alexandyr Solzhenitsyn. Now sometimes winning the Nobel Peace Prize is nothing more than a popularity contest. But Alexandyr Solzhenitsyn was an actual intellectual. He was a Russian Historian and novelist. Still having trouble believing your own eyes? That Stockholm Syndrome thing sure is a bitch, isn't it. You would probably flip out if I was allowed to prove to you that the holocaust was a hoax. The Russians were indeed the actual bad guys. And this person knew it. So if you have any doubt in your mind as to why the Ukrainians are so fiercely opposing the better equipped Russian forces, you now have your answer. I support them. You should to. The first step is in understanding them. And understanding their history is a big part of that.-1 points
