Overtly, this is of course an attempt to galvanize the base, but also a clear attack on academic freedom (which is far more limited in K12 ), using authoritarian tactics. To me, it also seems like an attempt to brainwash the youth into a narrow mindset that would make them amenable to GOP ideology. I am now wondering if folks have any thoughts or insights into how effective (and lawful) these tactics are going to be?

DeSantis is like a form of ChatGPT producing responses to populist inputs. If insentient robots ruled, their proclamations on "intellectual freedom" would often sound Orwellian the way DeS does. The thing is, when he proposes policies that are blatantly unconstitutional, and sounds most like a robot with no thoughts of its own, he is at his most repellent to most of the electorate. You can't fool enough people forever with this crap. The policies will crumble in the Courts, he will look weak and foolish, and he will fade from the scene. Crikey I'm optimistic this morning. It also helps that DeS has many in the GOP abandoning him after his recent Trump-bot-like dismissal of Russia's attack on Ukraine. David Frum, a conservative columnist, summed it up as "Message: Tough on drag queens. Weak on national security.” I think this helps to further mark him as someone following simple culture war algorithms but who is otherwise clueless to what's happening in the world. YW. Regarding the DC question DC doesn't have much. It's under sole jurisdiction of Congress and lacked a local government until 1973. And all laws from that local council have to be reviewed and approved by Congress, so it's really a bad situation for the residents of DC, who are US citizens but have no Congressional representatives or local autonomy. If there weren't nasty partisan roadblocks, DC would have been a state years ago. A friend of mine was a journalist in DC, so I've gotten earfuls on this.

The US has 51 constitutions, 51 sets of laws, and their 51 corresponding judicial systems. One for each of the 50 states plus one for the entire country (the Federal system). Violations of state laws are tried in state courts with the state supreme court having the final say. Violations of federal laws are tried in federal courts with the US Supreme Court having the final say. Cases that start in State courts only move to Federal courts when there is a question of whether or not the state law in question is in violation of the US constitution. There may be some specifics I missed in this summary and am happy to be corrected if someone else knows better. Washington D.C. is a special case but I'm not clear on how that works.

Extremely common in Texas where governor Greg Abbotts Attorney General, Ken Paxton, knows exactly where to bring a case to get the desired red meat outcome for the base. Happens more commonly with blocking immigration policy, but is a core part of their playbook. Might be easier to think of it as a federal case from the start, just one that was initiated by the head lawyer (think you call them Solicitors, or solicitor general in this context) of an individual state and filed against the US federal government itself.

The case shouldn't even be heard. Any other judge would throw the case out for the plaintiff's lack of standing.

I think this was a case of judge shopping. Filing the case where a particular judge is likely to hear the case. The Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine incorporated in Amarillo just prior to filing the suit, and this judge hears all such cases filed there.

It has remained to be the same up to now...only its concentration,saturation,'hue' changes at the boundary with emptiness as the universe evolves and expand...it's thickness reduces as more virtual particles are formed...this means all the virtual particles in the universe making spacetime fabric.....their total consciousness is the same to that of big bang starting point. It also appears that it's thickness at the boundary affect the rate at which virtual particles are produced as indicated by the uptick of universe expansion.

This paragraph will be given further clarification when I show how structures of matter start forming out of the process discussed in this thread. Surely here am dealing with consciousness and emptiness 'dance'....having a meaning of either means you have a meaning for all...this is beyond our understanding.... there was a time when we thought vacuum is empty only to realize it's so active full of quantum fluctuations and having enormous amount of energy (zero point energy)... In this situation empty is that which we can't describe,it's limited to the furthest we can go to describing dimensions......as far as we realize new dimensions from our current understanding then that belongs to the consciousness.

As shown in the structure this fields protrude from the surface of of elementary particles interacting with spacetime fabric therefore it generates mass by dragging it generating resistance to movement that appear as mass. The protrusion is minimum at neutrino and increases up the hierarchy up to Higg boson. How those boundary,levels,surface develops is shown as illustrated in the following diagram
