  1. My post on the use of tooth pulp was simply a reply to another poster on the type of DNA that can survive almost any kind of calamity. While I am not personally invested in bodily remains being found, I can understand their use in reconstructing what exactly happened. I don't think those who perished will mind if their bits serve a scientific purpose. I hope that speculation of mine is not too empty for you. If it is, you are free to move along.

  2. You are farting into the wind. Male and female as the only descriptors is loaded onto the dustbin of history. It's amusing, human development. We start out with black and white views as youngsters, and eventually we develop an understanding of nuances in things... grey things. Then we hit our seventh decade, or thereabouts, and the world is black and white again! I think people just give up the desire to learn and end up entrenched with an attitude twenty years out of date.

  3. A biological classification of a taxon does not put it at the head of a chain of 'trickle down' classifications, i.e., it does not aim to answer, what the taxon contains, but rather, where the taxon is in the "tree of life". Continuing with the dog example, the biological classification of the species, C. familiaris, does not have it on top, like this: but rather has it on the bottom, like this: or like this: and so on. The difference is what is meant by "to classify" something: to "classify a set" is to analyze its contents, while to "classify a taxon" is to show its relations to other taxa.

  4. That's a pun. Calculus could be described as the study of "somewhat smooth" functions. Here are some opinions on the book. https://math.stackexchange.com/questions/3763425/is-basic-mathematics-by-serge-lang-rigorous and of course the Amazon reviews have some more. https://www.amazon.com/Basic-Mathematics-Serge-Lang/dp/0387967877 Most reviews are positive.

  5. Your argument about extinction has one major flaw, it's wrong.

  6. It was, my arse. And yet, pop a few pills and chop off a few bits, and you too can become a woman. Apparently. They don't seem to be having many babies though. On the other hand, I wholeheartedly agree that sexual inclination is a grey area. Who could argue otherwise when you can read all about it in ancient greek literature? And good luck and a happy life to every single one. I have a good friend who transitioned, and I'm more than happy to go along with it, when he chooses to present as a woman. But I wouldn't want him competing with women. I've heard about him fighting in the past, and the damage he could do to bigger guys.
