  1. First let me say that everything stringy said is correct. However it is not the answer to your question. Animals and plants are 70% to 80% water. And what is food ? Largely dead plant and animal material. So it contains a substantial amount of water, even if dried out by cooking, and apparantly 'solid'. With regard to the olive oil, it will contain some water, but is it a solid ? Think also of gardening. You purchase a pH meter with a probe you shove into the 'solid' soil and get a reading for the soil pH. Why? Because of stringy's ions in the incorporated water. So the Quora respondent is just plain wrong in this instance.

  2. Makes sense. British are helping preserve the historical roots of those words. Most of those ones we Yanks drop the U from were probably French imports, like colour, honour, valour, humour, etc.

  3. No neuroplasticity equivalent for learning then. You are thinking in hard-machine terms, when it's a software that's executing. If we can have experiences in our brains, which is just data, why would it be impossible to replicate via software? Why can't those software-based characters interact and share experiences, increasing their respective knowledgebases?

  6. What is wrong with you? You've been on this site long enough to know that details matter. Why don't you join in with the rest of us instead of insisting your sloppy debate style is acceptable?

  7. While I believe this method would theoretically work I'm not sure it is practical. Male/Female is a simple demarcation and it is one that is pounded into people's brains, especially females, from early childhood. Men take advantage of women in many ways starting at a very early age. In elite sports women (mostly) get to break away from the influence of men and compete on a more or less level playing field. I cannot imagine that women (or most men) would accept giving up that precious space. Sports organizations are trying to figure out a way to let trans women compete in women's sports. Meghan Rapinoe has even spoken out in favor of trans inclusion. IMO it seems much more likely we can find a reasonable, "acceptable" solution by keeping the men/women categories and including trans players into those categories by using well thought out, discussed, scientifically based, sport specific, tested and proven rules. As a side advantage, it essentially provides confirmation that trans women are WOMEN since that is the category they would compete in. https://www.si.com/fannation/soccer/futbol/news/megan-rapinoe-on-transgender-participation-in-sports

  9. You are quite right about this being a chemical process- photochemical, more specifically. Absorption of light by dyes creates excited states with antibonding character and/or unpaired electrons. These are reactive and may form new bonds, either within the molecule or between molecules. If this happens, then more often than not it will interrupt the conjugated bonding systems responsible for absorption in the visible, hence causing a bleaching or fading effect. But there won't be any one reaction scheme for this. There is an article here about chromophores that explains the type of bonding responsible: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromophore. Interrupting the chain of alternating single and double bonds will change the wavelength at which the molecules absorbs light, generally towards the UV.

  10. The question of the purpose of life is deeply philosophical and has been pondered by humans for centuries. Different individuals and cultures have various perspectives and beliefs about the purpose of life. Here are a few common interpretations: 1. Religious or spiritual purpose: Many people find meaning and purpose in their religious or spiritual beliefs. They may believe that the purpose of life is to fulfill a divine plan, cultivate a relationship with a higher power, or attain spiritual enlightenment. 2. Personal fulfillment and happiness: Some individuals believe that the purpose of life is to seek personal fulfillment, happiness, and self-actualization. This can involve pursuing passions, developing meaningful relationships, achieving personal goals, and finding joy in life's experiences. 3. Contribution to society: Many people find purpose in making a positive impact on others and society as a whole. They may dedicate their lives to helping others, making a difference in their communities, or advocating for social and environmental causes. 4. Pursuit of knowledge and understanding: For some, the purpose of life lies in the pursuit of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. They may seek intellectual growth, explore the mysteries of the universe, and engage in lifelong learning. 5. Connection and relationships: Building and nurturing relationships with family, friends, and loved ones can bring a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Many people find meaning in fostering meaningful connections and creating a sense of belonging. It's important to note that the purpose of life can be highly subjective and can vary from person to person. Some individuals may find a combination of these purposes or have entirely different perspectives altogether. Ultimately, determining the purpose of life is a deeply personal and individual journey. It's up to each person to reflect, explore their values, passions, and beliefs, and find what brings them a sense of purpose, meaning, and fulfillment.

  11. That's absolute laughable rubbish. They are both clearly expressing my opinion. You would have to be a bit backward, to understand it any other way because it's clearly stated that way. Backward, or deliberately nit picking for it's own sake. Of course, I'm saying it's the second. If I say, "nobody's going to want to watch blah blah blah" this is how english speaking people give an opinion in english. Of course you can come along and nit-pick on the wording and say "how do you know NOBODY will want to watch it? " . At my school, we did that for laughs until we reached our teens. I did expect more adult posting on here.
