  1. The argument that breaks ID for me is irreducible complexity. Proponents claim the human eye is so ridiculously complex that it MUST have been designed by an intelligent creator, yet ignore how badly this designer botched the job. Today, one could easily design a much more effective eye from scratch, and it's obvious from the current design that the human eye has changed over time to produce the clunky version we have now.

  2. Lagos matches your Kansas July daily high pretty well 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Plus our humidity is higher. And yet I've grown habituated to it and can manage mainly without aircon albeit at the cost of an occasional outbreak of prickly heat (solution = cold showers). My pool hall (Tipsy Bar, Bodore Road, Ajah) has no aircon, but a two foot gap between the walls and the ceiling stop it from becoming too stifling. I can't help thinking that the OP is asking the wrong question. It assumes as a given that the OP has a right to enoy optimal comfort in a location where the ambient conditions are beyond his comfort zone. Relax that assumption and ask why the majority of the world's population (who manage to survive within the range of their own cimate variations without undue resource consumption) should bear the brunt of the OP's disproportionate demands for fossil fuels and fresh water. Should he not consider relocating to a location more in tune with his own particular physical requirements? It's easy to pick on the southern end of California because it is such an ecological disaster zone for so many reasons, but one must question whether any of these most hostile high population density areas (eg northern end of the Persian Gulf that can reach 500C near saturated in August-September) are worth maintaining as areas of human settlement. Better to put survival of the most before optimal comfort of the privileged I think.

  3. A relative of mine was born in 1988. He plays piano. Clearly this was destined to be. Born '88, and a piano has 88 keys. God reveals things. Still doubting? Then consider this: he developed a fondness for jelly rolls early in life, and Jelly Roll Morton was a famous piano player and composer. Finally, when his mother was pregnant with him, she and his father were driving through Texas and drove through the town of Plano. As they entered, the city sign had a spot of pale dirt on it which altered the lower case L so that Plano looked like Piano. Piano, Texas. It was a sign! Well, it was literally a sign anyway. IOW, people look for signs that will somehow validate their choices and/or elevate their importance, and this is a form of selection bias.

  4. Yes, some berm house are made by building up soil rather than major excavation. They're left open on the front but with soil built up everywhere else then stabilized with sod. I was unfamiliar with Disney tunnels, our family was never into theme parks like that. So I looked them up, learned that Walt saw a cowboy walking through Tomorrowland on his way to Frontierland and felt that messed up the guest experience. Which led to the utilidor system. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney_utilidor_system Sounds like the sort of places people take refuge in an apocalypse novel. Your termite mound sounds similar to the sci-fi concept of the arcology. I have reflected on the inefficiency of having stoves that release their heat into an air conditioned house, or fridges that also do that. In the USA, the range hood is a rudimentary approach which vents some of the heat. In the 19th century through the early 20th here, some homes had "summer kitchens" and a stove would be set up in an enclosed porch so that its heat wouldn't go into the home interior.

  5. Can build up soil around a structure to create a similar effect. Disney's tunnels are an extreme example, though high end homes and hotels will do it too sometimes.

  6. I read your post and it made me happy. Well, I was happy until I realized since I couldn't detect 'happy' with my five senses that is is not real, and thus I am not 'really' happy. Now I'm sad. But wait. Since I can't detect 'sad'.... <endless loop>

  7. Pretty much as I saw it. Hobbit holes! Nice idea in a middle England bucolic nostalgia sort of way but a little too low density for dealing with the bulk of the population. Taking the original OP scenario of high ambient temperature, low humidity. It would be nice if we could make use of the general principles, but construct them above ground in multi-story medium to high density accommodation units each suitable for populations oto 10,000 individuals. Basically a version of a scaled up termite mound. Let's run with it a while. Since hot, dry areas tend to have cool nights, natural convection can exhaust the internal heat of the structure (and critically, a large central water supply also) out through a central 'chimney' by (in principle) natural draught alone if you get the engineering right. During the day air inflow reverses (due to the reversal of thermal gradient) and is tempered by the high thermal inertia of the structure itself augmented by, say, underfloor cooling by the cooled water store, and further augmented by evaporative cooling which can also up the humidity into an appropriate comfort zone. In principle, temperatures within the structure will float between somewhat above the night time low and somewhat above the daytime wet bulb temperature without recourse to heat pumps at all. At least this is should be sufficient for people to exhaust their body heat without sweating like the proverbial christmas goat. Where does the cooling water come from? Recycled effluent plus a structure of this scale has potential for economic condensate recovery via eg. gas/gas heat exchange etc. In 'the best of all possible worlds', the community would not have individual cooking stoves, refrigerators, freezers etc, but centralised communal facilities that exhaust their waste heat directly outside of the structure (ie not overheating the living/working spaces). It looks to have possibilities. If you don't mind the termite social model. But then they have had well over 100 million years of practice and seem to be doing okay..

  8. It seems to me that all efforts of spacetime interpretation of quantum states are akin efforts to prove Euclid's fifth axiom. The discovery of states which exist independently of spacetime sheds light on a deeper structure of the world of events.

  9. And the other way around: geodesics define the parallel transport, the covariant derivative, and the connection. But not necessarily a metric.

  10. I think it suffers from the same problem as the opposing claim - you cannot ever disprove the existence of a designer. The best we can do is show that the laws and processes of physics as we see them arise without need for outside intervention - but at the moment we can’t really do that yet. But even if we can do this, the mere absence of such a need still does not necessarily rule out a designer - it could have been designed even though there wasn’t a need for a designer. So I think looking for evidence for either claim is ultimately a waste of time, unless the alleged designer chooses to reveal himself in indisputable and unambiguous ways.

  11. No, it’s a religious belief you have chosen to adopt. As I have shown you, patterns can arise independently of any intentional creator, so this is not evidence for your claim.

  12. The war on drugs has been a long and costly battle, with significant impacts on society. Some of the potential harms of the war on drugs include: Increased mass incarceration: The war on drugs has led to a sharp increase in the number of people incarcerated, particularly for nonviolent drug offenses. This has had a disproportionate impact on communities of color, which are more likely to be targeted by law enforcement for drug-related crimes. Violence: The war on drugs has also been linked to increased violence, both in the United States and abroad. The drug trade is often associated with violence, and the war on drugs has led to increased militarization of law enforcement, which has contributed to further violence. Public health harms: The war on drugs has also had a number of negative public health impacts. For example, the criminalization of drug use has made it more difficult for people who are addicted to drugs to seek treatment. Additionally, the war on drugs has disrupted traditional drug markets, which has led to the proliferation of more dangerous and addictive drugs. It is important to note that the war on drugs has also had some positive impacts, such as reducing the supply of illegal drugs and increasing awareness of the dangers of drug use. However, the potential harms of the war on drugs are significant and should be carefully considered. In conclusion, the war on drugs has had a complex and multifaceted impact on society. It is important to weigh the potential harms and benefits of the war on drugs when making decisions about drug policy.

  13. How does this have any bearing on the alleged design of an alleged creator? You do understand the da Vinci didn’t actually witness the last supper (painted just before 1500). How can the symbolism in it mean anything relevant? And Tennessee? Which only came into being a few hundred years after da Vinci?

  17. Please think about your use of the word coincidence. All that it means is that wo or more things happen in the same place and/or at the same time. Since there are billions upon billions of things happening at the same time and or place at every time and place and each and every one of them is a coincidence there is nothing special about this.

  21. I am the end. The culmination. Hence the name. And just because you deny or reject the idea does not render the presented information invalid. Yes there were various languages, subjects, locations, etcetera, employed at various stages of the sequence. The point is it all culminates here, with the explicitly expressed theme and general idea presented. That’s part of the beauty, part of the magnificence of it. All of the variation, all of the complexity culminated in commonality, in a clear message. All previous parts of the process have ultimately led to this moment. One can argue whoever utilized whatever language at whichever stage. The point is it all coheres, it all culminates with this. It is intelligible. The sequence is there. The coherence apparent. The significance revealed. Now what are you going to do about it? Play football? XBox? God does not doom humans. Humans doom humans. Through their actions, their inactions and misdeeds. God provides parameters, God provides knowledge to help humans avoid such doom. In people’s daily lives events occur and details emerge with no real substantive connection. Details can be massaged, manipulated, forced to relate to seemingly connect. Details are even invented, fabricated to force some connection for whatever reason. Then there are real parallels. Details and events which truly coincide and point to something greater. It has been claimed, it has been suggested that the material presented before you was massaged, manipulated or forced to seem as though it connects. It has been argued that I have “created” such coincidences. That these coincidences, these connections expressed were simply invented by myself. How could that be so? I have not formed the Earth; I did not form the topography of the planet, the geography of Tennessee. I did not name Tennessee. I did not name myself. I did not choose where I was born or raised. I did not name my father. I have no influence over the motions and movements of planetary bodies. All of these things were beyond my control. I simply identified their connections. And they do indeed connect. As illustrated. I did not wake up one Tuesday and decide, “Yeah, I’m going to play this role”. It was revealed to me, like all others, in real time. As stated in scripture: “As for the exact day and hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” Matthew 24:36 It is easy to dismiss such as manipulation of events, manipulation of details. A misconception or misinterpretation of things. It is difficult to accept it as truth, as the actual significance it could be. Even believers like to think they believe. They claim they believe. Do they really? For they seek at every opportunity to deny such significant events and what they may imply. These events are significant because they reveal, yet again, the glorious Creator. These details reinforce the presence of God. It helps bring us, as a species, closer to God. If scientists were to investigate such matters what would they find? What could they find? If scientists were to have investigated Jesus’ interactions millennia ago what would they have been able to confirm? These events and details are significant because they actually connect. These events and details together point to a higher order, an arranged structure only a higher intelligence could be held accountable for. As stated on the first page this is not all about me. I am simply part of the sequence relaying information. Many will review the material and simply see a man trying to claim divinity, a man claiming to be Jesus. It is more than that. This alludes to a higher power, a greater intelligence, a superior creator and designer of that which we are now witnesses. A glorious, wonderful creation we all are part of. A glorious connection of us all, through us all, around us all to embrace and communicate so that we may be aware of its significance, so that we may be aware of our commonality and act through love to improve and grow as a species. To begin to usher in the Kingdom of God. We are parts of a glorious creation, we are part of magnificent, glorious events. We are in the presence of God. We must act to spread this awareness, we must act to make it known.
