How could it negatively affect me? Do you realize that nobody could possibly give you any 'ideas' since you did not give enough information to know what you are talking about?2 points

If you don't have a previous trajectory as a referee for anything in the way of 'well known brand of journal group's member journal', I would suggest you might just have been targeted for a phishing attempt, and you should be careful. There are other less dangerous attempts to scam you that would look very much like that. The very fact that you feel compelled to 'investigate the reason for the case' suggest to me there might be something 'phishy' behind this. It's just a gut feeling. I hope none of this negatively affects anyone.1 point

Not sure what almost exponentially is, but maybe not important. I think there's a basic problem in using statistics to hire individuals for a job. This problem is clearer when the statistics are used on women or various ethnic groups. On average, Latinos are 1.45 times as likely to drop out of college in the first two years. So we shouldn't admit them to our school. On average, women are three times more likely to miss workdays due to childcare duties. So we better not hire any women. Etc. Age limits seems to get into similar territory. I see no reason some independent testing office can't be established, for annual competency tests of public officials. And, who knows, if the cream sometimes rises to the top, someday we might get a Chomsky or Bertrand Russell president, ushering in an era of great progress in their 90s. (also biological age is kind of a moving target, given what we are learning about nutrition and health)1 point

I think his presentation always comes up o this topic as it strongly challenges many false and simplified notions. Also relevant are his other talks related to gapminder, dismantling many global misconceptions. It is not a coincidence that folk lamenting about overpopulation rarely make the case to first reduce the population that is overconsuming resources.1 point

More that the role and universality of language assumes a much greater depth and simplicity at the same time, with proper recognition the Objectives and subjective. No, I can't. As stated I'm very far from being a mathematician. It should not be essential to the purpose regardless. It may or may not complicate my attempts at explanation. Its basic language of subjective to objective informs the language we commonly use. Perhaps the disconnect may be occurring through how we define 'value' in this context? I would say through relativity. Any objective considered in relationship is a value application. All relationships are value expressions, Mathematics and spoken/written language are only two ways of expressing value. Training animals is communication, expression of values, and their recognition. The interplays of environment on objects and organisms are value expressions. All subjective. The effects of biological selection and evolution are value expressions, as is our Human condition.1 point

I am trying to keep my discussion at least covering a much wider field than just Mathematics. I am impressed by your choice of title an in particular the usee of the phrase 'nature of existence'. In my opinion this is so much better than asking what is existence, as so many do. I am also impressed with 'the nature' of your discussion in this thread. So +1 for all that Existence is a noun. The English language admits of two kinds of noun viz abstract and concrete. This is very useful in exploring existence and its nature. It is useful because it is possible because concepts are, in general, abstract nouns but we are, in general, interested in the effects of something in the physical world. So it is easy to see how a concret noun like 'football' can affect another concrete noun like 'window' (by breaking it). But the game becomes really interesting when you realise that abstract nouns can affect concrete ones and the action in the physical world can give rise to (many) abstract nouns like toughness, vulnerability and so on.1 point

Yeah I've never even written about trillions of dollars in any discussion before. Not sure what point you're making if you're just picking on it. Do you know what asking for investors' money mean? Let me put it this way. Someone ask you for $3000 dollars for something that could be done for much less than $300, on top of the fact that he already acknowledged elsewhere to someone else that spending money on that particular thing would be useless. Are you still not going to call this a grift?0 points

Trillion. T Yes correct, but you missed some then repeated the mistake again AFTER making this edit0 points

Oh. It's the 8-ball. If "demonstrating a coincidence" was in order, then rolling a die inside a fluid container for the answer would be apt. I'm not. I'm wondering whether I should look into retroactive reporting for the people I've blocked...-1 points

There’s likely benefit in additional practice of your moving on skills, as not everyone enjoys continued beatings of deceased equines as much as you seem to.-1 points

I already backed up my argumentation, where's yours? How much is a chip plant or a GPU firm, and is it anywhere near $7T? No. Did he contradict himself? Yep. I don't see anything from you except empty rhetoric. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and what the heck do you mean "you don't see any engineering"? Chip fabrication and LLM machine conditioning (I don't call it "training") ARE engineering. Here's somewhat of an indication of Altman going: "I've not idea what I'm actually planning, except I'll scale it way up and contradict what I've previously said":-1 points

Clear misrepresentation. He already expressed the futility of LLM scale before, yet here he is, asking to scale to the tune of 7 BILLION... Way past any groups of vertical semis are even going for. Futility of scale + orders of magnitude over cost = clear fraud-1 points

how may a well known brand of a journal try to give harm to me? (I do not say that it cannot be a case, but do not know much too) I contacted to their support service, they confirmed that that manuscript was waited my decision to accept the invitation or not. meanwhile, am I allowed to share the name of that brand? note please I saw the manuscript abstract also in my account of that journal. They say I need to make a decision on whether I wanted to accept or not and I need to send my comments (assessment) to them within 14 days. I think that this is an official request but why did they select me is interesting. Because I thought just like you. ok. continue to act in that way. you will eventually learn how it is. joigus, what is your personal idea? should I reject the invitation? I have no formal academic background except a strong BSc program. if you meant that someone else may give harms to me, then could you clarify how?-1 points

The Samster just asked for a whopping 7 billion investor handout: https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/sam-altman-wants-to-raise-up-to-7-trillion-thats-uh-a-lot-of-dough/ar-BB1i3ay5 C'mon... This is clearly bullshit. I can see the "plan" from a billion miles away: 1. Raise trillions 2. Pay himself billions 3. Fuck all, laughs in people's faces as expensive house of cards folds after the smoke clears 4. Open golden parachute to the tune of tens if not hundreds of millions ON TOP 5. Maybe even just repeat that same shit again somewhere else afterwards- It's not as if he hasn't done all this failing-upwards crap BEFORE This is as transparent as it gets as far as criminality is concerned. You know how much is a network of chip manufacturing plants? Biden's CHIPS Act is "only" 52 billion, and that's spread across multiple companies. Guess he wants to start up an entirely new multi-trillion dollar semiconductor manufacturing corporation which dwarfs market behemoth Samsung at a "measly" $370 Billion......... https://companiesmarketcap.com/samsung/marketcap/ ...and what's more, this is AFTER he already said that scaling out LLMs don't work! https://www.wired.com/story/openai-ceo-sam-altman-the-age-of-giant-ai-models-is-already-over/ He just contradicted himself. Now, I'm wondering which oil prince in the UAE is gonna fall for that, and what happens once they find out this is a scam.-2 points
