  1. I am currently looking into the following questions and would be open to hear thoughts, credible research findings in this area, or any reccomended references. Typically, what germs or bacteria is there on food items purchased in the supermarket such as frozen food packages? If so, are the known germs/bacteria harmful to humans on average and how long would they stay 'alive' on the items? If freezing food items that are packaged/boxed, what does this do to any potential germs/bacteria on the packaging? Would wiping down the boxes/bags of frozen items after removing them from the freezer actually remove the germs (such as wiping with warm water or antibacterial spray/wipes)? Thank you in advance for any information.

  2. i wouldnt say this is a brain teaser or puzzle but just something to think about and discuss If you were to pick any 5 Countries to rule the entire world what would they be (feel free to include maps of what the boundaries would look like) Mine are the nordic countries like Sweden, Finland, Norway, Netherlands, etc

  3. I think what iNow is referring to is how the abrahamic religions often support multiple things that are contradictory, allowing the leaders an answer, no matter how absurd, to any question a follower might have. If they get you to believe one bizarre thing, you're much more likely to believe the next thing they tell you. Sunk cost is definitely part of the larger question of how we lessen the grip of religion in our society, as well as the grip of politics, imo. They aren't what will save us, they're part of this obsession with populism that's killing us.

  5. None, because you've just described colonialism. Which is terrible. Government is how societies seek to solve their particular problems on a macro scale. Swedes, no matter how well-meaning, can't do a decent job in problem solving for people in Bhutan or Congo. At best, if Sweden had really excellent forestry experts, say, they could offer them as technical consultants. There was a time when about five countries were running most of the world. (a few countries like Ethiopia managed to resist, but not many) Without scrambling for Google, I will say at a guess they were Britain, France, Netherlands, Spain and Portugal. This didn't turn out too well for most of the globe.

  6. Heart rate is mainly a brain stem thing, in terms of regulation. You might ask your healthcare provider about vagal maneuvers, which can help the vagus nerve (the major connector in the parasympathetic nervous system which regulates the heart, breathing, digestion, and making whoopie) calm the heart and breath and reduce negative feedback loops from anxiety. The main purpose of the parasympathetic NS is maintaining homeostasis by regulating the body's visceral organs. It is the relaxing system of the so-called gut-brain axis, which counters the sympathetic NS which turns on fight-or-flight responses (and the panic attacks you described in the OP) - responses your inner hunter-gatherer ape also needs. The PNS is sometimes described as "relax and digest," which is seeking a functional balance with the SNS and fight and flight. I leave, an exercise for the reader, which system the other F depends on. (the F that fills the blank in the famous Four Fs of animal behavior - fighting, fleeing, feeding, and _____). Again, discuss particular techniques with a healthcare specialist. Some are quite powerful, but you need guidance from an expert to do them properly. I can't provide that.

  8. If they were beating people over the head with a hammer, am I supposed to consider the hammer harmless? Or should I treat the hammer and those who wield it carefully like the deadly weapons they are? What if you consider just about everything in that book has caused abuse for generations of humans, told believers what pieces of shit they were born as, and has allowed the Church to rape and pillage its way throughout history, until today where they serve as a real estate holding scheme for pedophiles and murderers? I think you're making the mistake of conflating an enormous, multigenerational scam perpetrated by various Abrahamic Churches with anything remotely ethical or moral. And when it comes to unacceptable morality, I don't need to read what it should be about, I have their unacceptable behavior as my guideline. So shame on you for the "out of hand" part, like you're the only person who'd thought hard about this.

  10. I don't think any sensible strategist would take out any leaders in this stage of potential hostilities. Killing a leader would create too many new geopolitical outcomes. We need hose-pipes, not flamethrowers.

  12. Not much chance of an assassination. A mountainous area where fog can spring up very quickly, and flying in a Bell 212 helicopter, which is, at best, 1970s vintage, is a recipe for disaster. How it gets spun by the religious leaders to their people, is a different story.

  13. No it won't. Deflection at any point in it's orbit will make a new orbit and new trajectory and it will be less likely any Earth crossing orbit object will ever cross Earth's orbit again.

  14. Assumption from another thread that you aim for computational models running on currently available computer hardware; Any thoughts on how to get the resources needed to develop and run? Current state of the art machine learning requires quite a lot. Some old numbers from 2020; note that this supercomputer has not resulted in anything resembling AGI as far as I can tell: Reference https://news.microsoft.com/source/features/ai/openai-azure-supercomputer/#:~:text=The supercomputer developed for OpenAI,the top five%2C Microsoft says. That said, running a simple generative AI based software that generates text can be done on a consumer computer. It has nothing to do with developing intelligence but is useful in some contexts.

  16. What metrics will you measure to confirm AGI has been achieved? Are you already leveraging any of the countless many free Jarvis style agents out there, the ones with hundreds of billions of investor dollars funding them?

  17. Thank you for repeating that. Proteins are made out atoms which have electrons. So at the very most basic level what is happening is literally ionization from light in the dna composing the retina. Yes when you get to the cellular level things like photosynthesis seem more complex but it's all just light and electricity interacting with each other just like the computer.

  24. Well a cheetah has a smaller head than a lion and the cheetah can still breathe as efficiently as possible. A larger head in terms of breathing might be more about multitasking where you can still breathe mostly efficiently without having to focus as hard on it. So someone with a larger upper body can indirectly use their larger neck muscles to assist their breathing even if their larger neck muscles weigh them down a bit during running.

  27. Many adults and teenagers with smaller heads can still be very intelligent and athletic. Yet when we admire a larger bodybuilder like Arnold Schwarzenegger we forget that he might be helped in maintaining more upper body strength simply by having a larger brain and head size. So even though many track athletes have a diverse head size it’s still possible when we think of lions that their larger muscles can be helped by having a larger head to breathe more efficiently.
