  1. omgosh. That has to be one of the coolest suggestions I've ever heard! YT, no worries bud, I'm still broke too, and I don't even have an experiment's worth of data to show from it!
  2. Dudde

    I'm Back!

Welcome back! You've been gone as long as I have! ..Almost... Only your returning story is a lot more impressive! Congratulations on the marriage and the PhD!
  3. I remember last year when some guy found out that someone had JUST taken the last computer he wanted at wal mart, so he found the guy in the front of the store, punched his face and took the computer out of the cart. Luckily I think that dude was arrested, how weak and lame this is what generally keeps me inside, hooray for games!
  4. To be honest, I think most people here are quite well versed in grammar and all that ... stuff... but semantics! Nobody pays attention to that anyway, language detracts from the fun part, the part when shiny things get all bright and explode. You know the ones. Welcome to the forums everyone!
  5. Thanks Pangloss! I agree with the study tests that have the answers, I prefer the method that makes you look to find your answers, instead of providing a method for rote memorization (in which everything you learn shall be forgotten two weeks later anyway) I remember a few years back I was able to actually take and score my CCNA and A+ exams, unfortunately I couldn't front the money, and so never received credit! It used to be funny until I realized I had to take them again:mad: I've been thinking about heading toward security or encryption, which has always fascinated me - any suggestions?
  6. You guys are some wacky smart people, what technical certifications have you accumulated over the years? My workplace encourages (and almost demands) that you constantly study for and get certified for different things, and will even pay for most! But I stopped going for those things years ago - if you have any secrets to studying, let me know! There's a trainer at my workplace with a good 16 or 17, what a jerk!
  7. I find that if you wrap a blanket around your thigh, kind of like a tourniquet, it will cut off the circulation and you can't feel it! erm wait, that could be dis-safe. I didn't mean THAT kind of technology, but when last I lived in Phoenix, I didn't find very many tech kind of jobs!
  8. Yo YT!

Never get a chance to say hi, thought I'd drop on by and say it!

    ..so...hi!

  9. You guys are all crazy. Honestly people annoy me like no other, but it's probably because I naturally rebel against the grain! It's natural for me to strike up the opposing side of an argument, even if I don't agree with it, ...which might make me whatever you want to call it, but it's fun! However, I've become quite antisocial as of late, and go to walmart at 2am because there are fewer people, I think it's time I get stupid and go to the mall! .... except the mall is so boring...what do you guys do, besides defending against zombies, that makes it fun? Reveal your witches secrets to me!
  10. Of course we read the threads, wouldn't be much point in coming to the forum if we didn't! Glad to see you could join us! I've actually been thinking about moving back to Pheonix, but alas, my technology keeps me in Oklahoma. Bah! You're a crazy person! I think you'll fit in well>
  11. Last minute essays are where the inspirations come from! btw, I can't say I've ever been a professional teacher, but I've been teaching singles and groups of people my entire life - it really never gets old when you take something that is complete alien technology to someone, and then watch their face as they finally catch on! The ones willing to learn anyway, you'll always get those who don't want to listen or disbelieve everything you say, but I like them because they end up learning more!
  12. You hold a solid point my friend, all except for that crazy "I don't eat unless I'm forced to" part, how zany! I eat all the time! And some of the others...well...it scares me what some people eat in this forum o.0 Welcome to all the new guys! Hope you find a good home away from (or inside) home with us!
  13. I would say that buma has a more fluid sound, with no sharp spikes in the tone or ...spokenness.... whereas kiki is more likely to be pronounced with a sharp intone at the i, so you have kind of an up-down, or bumpy road impression. After all, when driving on something smooth, you don't get those funny sounds you do when you drive on a road full of construction on the way to work
  14. I don't know guys - that kinda seems like going into an artists workshop and drawing a few trees, then labeling them as our own. We definitely know how to manipulate what's already there - I don't know if we have the processing power to make a truly robust AI yet though. Think of the calculations your brain does, it's insanity!
  15. Unfortunately, the only violence I've ever known, I finished. However, I hated it too, so now I just look like I could beat somebody up and they usually leave me alone - though it helps to be able to back it up! Definitely look into martial arts, smaller people definitely benefit from such - although personally, if they have a gun or better, I usually give it up anyway. I'd say travel in as crowded and lit area as possible, but it sounds like you do that
  16. Hey, that works too! I'm used to working with enterprise server clients, so losing data is an absolute bad - but I'm glad you were able to get it up and working again! Get on up and show that OS who's boss>
  17. Also note, the water cannot go through the steel, as the steel's atomic structure is much more dense - whereas with a shirt, you have interwoven fibers that are designed for airflow (those are the comfy-est), and aren't very water-tight. A ship made with the same principles would probably not get nearly as far!
  18. Craziness - anytime people plan stuff for me, I always catch wind and find an insider who'll keep me posted on progress. It makes it easier to act surprised or happy that way. That looks like a sweet party though, lab coats for the win!
  19. Nice to see all the new people, and Book Worm - who's been here almost as long as I have o.0 Or longer. I have investigating to perform! Welcome to all the new people! You guys rock!
  20. Seriously, that's pretty sweet. Have you tried booting into safe mode with networking, trying to open files on the CD that way? Just hit F8 I think when the computer is booting, you'll get that lovely screen, choose safe mode with networking. Try the CD thing there, as well as running an antivirus if you have a good one installed. Be sure to check your add/remove programs and services (right click 'my computer', manage, services and applications, services) to make sure there isn't anything suspicious looking - If you're willing, try a repair install to recover any damaged or corrupt OS files Repair Install by Microsoft 1. When the Press any key to boot from CD message is displayed on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD. 2. Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen. 3. Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console. 4. In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement. 5. Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP. 6. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.
  21. My sister was a vegetarian growing up, and as I was the main cook of the family, I'll have to admit that it took some time for me to stretch my creativity to learn to cook food well for a veggie person! My new bad habit is Oblivion, on xbox 360
  22. Yeah it kinda sounds like something underlying not havin' a good time there. I actually had a customer once with a lot of the same issues where he had to reinstall the OS in order to get it working again. Any chance we could try to run a repair install from the OS CD? do you have the operating system disk?
  23. You know, you may look at downloading Google Chrome, I downloaded it to test it out and see if it was crappy, but it runs a lot faster than IE and is way cooler. oh. But if you want that to work, you may scroll through your internet security options, it'll be in with the rest of your options in the advanced tab... did you try rolling back to version 6 and see if you had the same problem? or you could try this in command prompt c:\computerwork/now/setonfire
  24. 10 Key For the WIN! I hate the numbers above the keyboard, those are not Dudde Friendly. by the by, bascule, how exactly did you hack an xbox for movies? I know a few people who've done some crazy stuff to their xbox (I know a guy who put ROMs for like every gaming system) - not sure what more you'd want for the movie side though?
  25. And if that doesn't work, you may look at the IEESC Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Add/Remove windows components, scroll down and uncheck "Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration." That jerk gets in the way of a lot of websites, if you still have the problem after turning this off, feel free to turn it back on.
