Because cranks would say they are filming in the studio.. ? Seriously, ISS is too small spaceship.. look what they had in "Elysium". https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1535108/ The bigger radius of circle, the smaller gradient difference between head and foots.

Element Creating Machine/ Simplest Formula To Change The Universe
Sensei replied to GreatScott1's topic in Speculations
There are exotic atoms https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exotic_atom They are unstable because their nuclei is made of unstable particles. Any charged particle, positively charged meson or baryon can have electron-cloud, or opposite charged particle cloud, around it.. so it is just a matter of discovering exceptionally long stable or absolutely stable particle, to replace normal protons role in ordinary atoms. It would open completely new exotic atoms chemistry.. -

Element Creating Machine/ Simplest Formula To Change The Universe
Sensei replied to GreatScott1's topic in Speculations
... you would have to surround the Sun and everything by Dyson Sphere, to disallow energy escape out of it, to be able to utilize it for much longer time than now.. e.g. fusion releases energy, energy is harvested, gathered and used to split existing heavier isotopes, to lighter isotopes and then to Hydrogen-1 or Deuterium, and basic fusion fuel bring back to the Sun, where it can again being used for fusion. Iron could be used to cool down the Sun to disallow going to red giant phase of star evolution. There are needed simulations of star, what will happen with star if some isotopes of heavier elements are bring to star. -
How did homosexuality evolve?
Sensei replied to Itoero's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
They simply had to hide in the past.. not revealing their true orientation to public, as it could lead them even to sentence to death.. Even in modern times, in Syria thousands of people were murdered recently accused to be homosexual. -
How did homosexuality evolve?
Sensei replied to Itoero's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
But difference between animals and plants, and homosexual humans, is such that 100% homosexual people usually have no children, so can't spread their genes (if their homosexuality was result of some genetic mutation) for further generations, so eventual mutation immediately ends up on them. I am interpreting and extending original Itoero question "How did homosexuality evolve?" like it would be "How did homosexuality evolve when we know that homosexual people usually don't have offspring, so it can't be result of genetic evolution?".. And I answered how it happens in 2nd post. Scientists who found influence of testosterone (and other hormones) during development of embryo, in the wrong moment of development, even made such experiments: drilled little holes in chicken eggs, used syringe with testosterone and injected it, then observed sexual behavior of newly hatched chickens.. and 100% of them were homosexual.. Experiment was repeated couple times, always with the same results. Single egg human twins can also have different sexual orientation. If you compare their DNA they are nearly the same. So it can't be result of genetic mutation. -

Yes.. XXI century.. the all modern airplanes should have Full HD or UHD cameras recording what pilots are doing the all time. Then videos should be routinely checked, even if there is no crash, to check if pilots are e.g. following procedures from control lists, or ignoring them. Poorly educated and/or unsafely flying pilots would be detected at early stage. Also there should be external cameras for pilots, showing engines.. Once pilots shutdown good working engine, and continued to flight on damaged engine, which resulted in catastrophe. When they realized their mistake there was not enough altitude and time to restart previously shutdown engine. Damaged engine caused so huge shake of entire airplane that pilots were unable to see control panel (poor design of warning information which engine is working good and which is damaged partially influenced bad decision of the pilots).

It's at least third thread about the same subject in the last half year. So instead of copying and pasting the same text, I will better give you links: -
Environmental change.. ..day by day.. ..month by month.. ..year by year.. ..thousands of years by thousands of years... Too quick environmental change disallows (non-intelligent) living organisms to adopt to new environment.. (which results in extinction)

Australia's Highest Ranking Catholic sentenced to 6 years;
Sensei replied to beecee's topic in The Lounge
Returning to the topic. Pedophile-priests are confessing their sins to other pedophile-priests in confessional. Then they exchange roles and repeat and bidirectionally release their sins. Pedophile-priests are collecting unpleasant incriminating evidences against other priests, and church hierarchs. If their molestation is revealed, they are blackmailing to reveal hierarchs wrongdoing. So hierarchs are becoming "slaves" of pedophile-priests.. Have to do what they ask or else.. -

...in advance? No. Thing didn't happen, yet.. Using your the above logic the all schools should be dismantled because a few per mile to few percent of teachers are molesting students.. ..what with dentists.. ? They may use sleep medicament and abuse unaware patient.. Dismantle the all dental clinics? etc. etc. No. It is example of overreaction and collective responsibility and collective punishments for sins of minority.. -

This is very similar case as in spies and intelligence agencies. Newbie members and old members of CIA etc. organisations are routinely checked on lie detectors (that does not help with involuntary releasing of information, but limits intentional actions). Even in private companies, somebody accused of stealing a large amount of money is often asked to be verified on lie detector. Similar standards should be adopted in such organizations like Catholic Church, to get rid of criminals who should not be there at the highest positions.. -
That would be instant violation of Lepton number conservation. Electron has Lepton number +1. Antimatter, antiparticle of electron, positron has Lepton Number -1. Neutrino has Lepton number +1. Anti-neutrino has Lepton Number -1. While beta decay minus there are emitted electron and anti-neutrino. Lepton numbers +1-1=0. Still zero. While beta decay plus there are emitted positron and neutrino. Lepton numbers -1+1=0. Still zero. While typical double beta decay minus there are emitted two electrons and two anti-neutrinos. Lepton numbers +1+1-1-1=0. Still zero. While typical double beta decay plus there are emitted two positrons and two neutrinos. Lepton numbers -1-1+1+1=0. Still zero. While annihilation of electron and positron there are typically created two gamma photons. Lepton numbers +1-1=0+0. Still zero. Before reaction and after reaction. That's what is quantum number conservation. There are cases in which quantum number conservations are violated, and quantum physicists and scientists are working hard to try prove some violation, but this one case is not..

Mixture of Sodium Bicarbonate and Sodium Chloride
Sensei replied to pennieloot's topic in Applied Chemistry
@chenbeier https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solubility_table Sodium Chloride has solubility in water ~360 g/L Sodium Bicarbonate has solubility in water ~70 g/L You should be able to separate them using water. -
Use clear raincoat (aka "rain poncho"). https://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/clear-raincoat They are extremely cheap, and easy to fold/unfold and hide (my has size 18 cm x 11 cm x 1 cm).
-
No. That's exactly reverse. Free proton has mass-energy 938.272 MeV. Free electron has mass-energy 0.511 MeV. Hydrogen-1 has 938.272 + 0.511 MeV - 13.6 eV. Free neutron has mass-energy 939.565 MeV. and decays via n0 -> p+ + e- + Ve + 0.782 MeV (939.565 MeV - ( 938.272 MeV + 0.511 MeV) ) = 0.782 MeV
-
Deuterium (Hydrogen-2) has nearly double mass-energy of Hydrogen-1 (single proton + electron)..
-
1) free neutron has larger mass-energy than free proton and free electron together. 782 keV larger mass-energy. 2) bound neutron in isotope changes rest-mass of nucleus quite significantly (unlike electrons which are ~1836.15 times lighter than proton) 3) bound neutron in isotope changes nuclear spin of nucleus. e.g. Helium-4 has nuclear spin 0 (even number of protons and neutrons give always spin 0), but Helium-5 has nuclear spin 3/2−. It's also unstable isotope that has unique decay mode via neutron emission.
-
If you're rejecting existence of neutrons, then you are rejecting nuclear bombs and nuclear powerplants all together, as hoaxes, misinformation and world conspiracy? Neutrons are essential for fission to work in nuclear powerplants.. If you bombard otherwise stable isotope by free neutrons, nucleii can capture free neutrons and change to other stable isotope or to unstable isotope which will decay after a while, or it can cause fission like in reaction of Uranium 235.

Should I talk to girls I like about quantum mechanics?
Sensei replied to Vexen's topic in The Lounge
I don't have any problem with it with any mortal human.. -
Like John mentioned, with limited explanation, we have two things to bother, voltage at required minimum, and current at required minimum. P = U * I If you have required voltage U (e.g. 12 V), but current I is too low, you have too low power.. Batteries connected together in serial have increased voltage. Batteries connected together parallel have increased current. Batteries connected together both serial and parallel have increased either voltage and current, thus the higher power.

...that is extraordinary far fetched statement... Check statistics of depression, bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia.. "Here are the latest depression statistics: 300 million people around the world have depression, according to the World Health Organization. 16.2 million adults in the United States—equaling 6.7 percent of all adults in the country—have experienced a major depressive episode in the past year."
