Not that I believe in any of this, but I don't think there's anyone (or at least many people) claiming that everyone that dies becomes a ghost. Pretty sure it's normally a rare event involving unusual circumstances. Anyways, I agree that that sort of stuff doesn't exist. More interesting to think about why people can be so convinced it does. Looking at the website this appears to be a real movie, yet there's no way. Is this just one of the best followed-through comedy trailers ever?

How do I add photoshop objects into program code?
javagamer replied to seriously disabled's topic in Computer Science
I've heard it's easy to use and I believe it works with TGE, not sure about the others. It doesn't have a game-engine built-in like Blender, but you could certainly use it to make stuff. I've never used it before since I worked on Mac and now Linux, so I can't recommend it from experience, but I have heard it easy to use. -

I strongly suggest you use an existing engine for your game rather than writing it from the code up. An engine handles most of the behind-the-scenes stuff like getting your objects in the game, networking, displaying the graphics, menus, and everything else that isn't actually part of your gameplay. I recommend the Torque Gaming Engine if you're just starting out. It's a good solid engine with great support and a relatively cheap price compared to other commercial engines. If you're not ready to spend any money there are some open-source engines available such as XreaL which I' can also recommend, though it's not nearly as user friendly as TGE is atm. Also, if you use Blender to make your models it may be easiest to use Blender's built-in game engine. While I have no experience with it, it appears to be in a usable state and of course it should integrate well with Blender, though you'd be using Python. If you're new to programming and game making then I would actually recommend Python over C++. Anyways, good luck -
How do I add photoshop objects into program code?

Generally people use 3D modeling programs to made 3D objects in games. While it's probably possible to use something you made in Photoshop, you'd have to write your own code to convert it to a 3D object in a game. I highly suggest just making it in something like Blender, which is a free, open source 3D modeling program. Also, it highly depends on what you're using to make your game. -
C can run much faster, so if you're doing something processor intensive you might want to write that in C to make the best use of your CPU while keeping the overall program in Python to make the best use of your time.

What about something else like Tylenol Cough and Throat which has acetaminophen (paracetamol), dextromethorphan, and doxylamine succinate? I've heard somewhere (from a possibly unreliable source so I'm asking here) that inflammation is part of the healing process so anything that reduces inflammation also slows down recovery. Is this true?

Hi, I appear to have come down with some sort of minor illness. I have a slightly sore throat, stuffy nose, and mild headaches. I'm not seriously inconvenienced by it in the day, but at night it's near-impossible to sleep for more than half an hour even if I stay up far later than usual. I'm sure some Nyquil would help me sleep through the night, but would it help me get better soon or could it actually slow the healing process? I haven't taken anything yet because I don't mind being rather uncomfortable if it means I'll get better soon, but I'd hate to put myself through unnecessary (though mild) suffering all because of some irrational fear of modern medicine. So, my question is will taking OTC medicine slow down the time it takes for me to fully recover from whatever it is I have?

What is the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for Nanotubes?
javagamer replied to hermanntrude's topic in Chemistry
That is the greatest link I've ever seen. I think you changed my life hermanntrude. -
The link has an extra 'res' added onto it. This link http://mikebloggle.blogspot.com/2008/05/a5-designer-makota-makita-hiroshi.html points directly to the page about the Zero. Sounds really awesome, I'd assume it's pretty pricey too though.

If done properly (under a trash can far away from buildings on an extension cord) it can be entirely safe. He is legitimately doing pyrotechnics so my parents trust him a bit, however I don't think he's really going to reconsider safety until something bad happens and that's something I'd much rather avoid. I don't think it will be a big issue once I mention it to my parents, but I just want to be sure I have stuff to back up what I say. They're very reasonable and I'm pretty sure this won't be a big issue. I can be overly concerned with my safety at times so part of the reason I posted this was to be sure I wasn't worrying over nothing.

Whats the most dangerous chemical you have used / seen?
javagamer replied to RyanJ's topic in Applied Chemistry
You listed RDX twice. Also, to add on to what nitric said RDX is also incredibly stable. Apparently C-4, consisting primarily of RDX, can be shot with a rifle and lit on fire without detonating. Also, nice point with the alcohol. -
Unfortunately we're both still in school (K-12) and we live with our parents, thus I can't kick him out. My parents are very reasonable though, so if I make a good case they won't let him do it. Just want to be sure I have all the sources I can.

My brother claims that it's safe to mill black powder indoors and he plans on doing this in a ball mill he's constructing. He's using non-sparking lead media of course, but I'm still worried that it's not a good idea. Most sources I found all say to NEVER mill inside and say to protect with sand bags or at least a large trash can. He cites a video he can no longer find which shows how they test the jars so that in the event of an explosion only the lids come off. I'm wondering what the members of this forum think and hoping I can find some sources that point one way or another. Thanks in advance

Geoff: That was me. Just wanted something quick double check that the sulphuric acid I got was indeed 93% like the MSDS claimed. tomgwyther: I'm pretty sure I saw that thread on roguesci. There was some pretty scary stuff.
-
If it was oxygen that'd be pretty safe, right? I know they have oxygen bars where you can just go and breathe an enhanced concentration of oxygen for a fee (there's supposed to be some health benefits or something).

What would be the most worrisome thread to see to come across? I'm thinking something along the lines of "How do you store a pound of AP?" Anyone think they have something better?

inhubad - There was a post in between my first one and your first one. Thanks for the help with the legal stuff. jdurg- Thanks for your help and advice too. Also, my original questions still haven't been answered.

Inuhbad - I guess you missed this from my above post. I am well aware of the dangers of sulphuric acid, that it dehydrates skin as it burns leading to more severe burns, and what to do in case of a burn. I wouldn't ever think of working with it without the proper safety gear and precautions. I've already looked extensively into it and I am determined to make nitric acid so I think it is unlikely you will be able to persuade me otherwise. Chemistry is inherently dangerous if you don't take the necessary precautions, but your safety is always in your hands. Also, I'm pretty sure that it's common knowledge (at least here) that the Anarchist's Cookbook contains less information than most cartoons. I can't imagine why anyone would endanger themselves by using such an obviously flawed source for anything. The only thing it's good for is a quick laugh. I never did consider that my state might have laws regarding nitrations. I understand that certain chemicals like phosphorus are illegal, but I never thought a state could/would ban nitrations. I'd be interested to here where I can find out what laws my state has on amateur chemistry as google came up with nothing. I'm also surprised to hear that you have to report possible chemicals to the fire marshal as well as fill out a form. I don't think I have any chemicals that can't be bought OTC and I've never heard of anyone having to fill out a form to buy drain cleaner or reporting they have charcoal or denatured alcohol. Also, here (SFN) it would appear from what I've read (I've been reading for months prior to posting this) many, if not most, people get their sulphuric acid from OTC sources. Besides, from what I understand even pathetic sulphuric acid will work for making nitric acid, though obviously yields wouldn't be as good. Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed response and your clear care for my safety. Edit: I'm not sure I understand your second question.

I gave the cardboard box a few minutes and it didn't appear to do anything more than color it black (b/c the sulphuric acid is black, not from charring). To start off I'm really interested in nitrocellulose and that is almost certainly what I hope to do first. I have a retort to make the nitric acid, all glass bottles to store it in, and I've read extensively on what to do, plus I have nitrile gloves, splash proof goggles, and an acid resistant apron. It's Floweasy Drain Opener and the MSDS is available at http://floweasy.com/webadmin/doc_manager/uploads/123_Floweasy_MSDS.pdf.

I took a drops and put about 5 drops on a cardboard box and it did nothing. That's how I determined the buffers are quite a problem.

I scored a 23, which I guess makes sense. My parents claimed that I'm on the border of autism (they said I probably have "non-verbal learning disability", which isn't really a learning disability, more of a social awkwardness, I think). Anyhow apparently if I had taken some official test I'd qualify for special treatment at school. I'm sure had I taken the test a few years ago I would have scored much higher, I'm much better socially now. Also, I don't consider whatever form of autism I may have a con, it's just who I am.

Greetings, After searching every store I could I finally came across a source for sulphuric acid in the form of drain cleaner. I was pleasantly surprised to discover (thanks to the online MSDS) that it's 94% sulphuric acid. Unfortunately the "12 buffers" added appear rather effective, making a few drops incapable of harming a cardboard box. Clearly I need to purify it, but I'm not entirely sure how. After asking on the IRC (thanks UnintentionalChaos and Nitric) I learned that I should do something along the lines of adding activated charcoal to it, filtering it through fiberglass, and then concentrating to make up for any water gained in the above steps. I do have some questions about the specifics though. First of all, how much charcoal should I add? Is it just a pinch, a spatula full, or is there no such thing as too much? Second, I've read concentrating it is as simple as boiling until thick white fumes emerge, is there a temperature I should aim for and how can I best judge how concentrated it is? Measuring the density? Also, if it's alright to name sources I can post a link to the MSDS and website if that would help. Thanks in advance, Javagamer (I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this so feel free to move it to where ever it belongs) Edit: One of my main uses for this sulphuric acid is making nitric acid and nitrations. I've heard that you can use rather awful acid to make nitric acid, could I use unfiltered acid for this? If so would it also be good enough for nitrations?
