  1. I apologize for calling baseball boring. There are probably many fans of baseball around here, and good for them. The important thing is to get some exercise from any sport...that is a good thing, no matter what sport.
  2. That makes sense. It takes a lot more cleverness to draw a road map than cleverness to merely read it. Maybe someday something in Einstein's work may proven to be not absolutely true. The person who discovers this is not necessarily "smarter" than Einstein, rather they just worked harder on an area that Einstein did not focus on.
  3. Yes, to answer your question. You would need to understand what Einstein did, PLUS more to disprove anything. That means being a bit more clever than Albert.
  4. Baseball without a catcher? What would it be like? It would then become some player's job to walk over and pickup the baseball off the ground after each pitch, adding painfully more time to an already dead-boring sport. Your suggestion is a false equivalence. Soccer with no goalie is a breeze! You can shoot at the goal from further away. Maybe goals beyond a certain distance can count 2 points? Defenders do their best to block the shots, but cannot use their hands or arms. Penalty kicks are simply shot from the midfield line, or further distance to compensate for no goalie. You can even make the goal smaller in height and width.
  5. That is a great reason to not have a goalie, feelings of guilt at not stopping goals. What kid wants to NOT run around on the field with the others? Who wants to be different? What's wrong with higher scoring? Standard soccer is great also, don't get me wrong, I love the game as it is...just so someone ELSE plays goalie. But what if there was an alternative?
  6. In the discussion about the World Cup Soccer some were debating the concept of trying out a modified version of soccer where the goalie position is eliminated. This would result in much higher scoring (or you can make the goal smaller). One poster said his kids play in a youth group where they play with no goalie, 6 players per side, and a smaller goal. What do you think of this? I propose an experiment with a high-school league to try out this kind of soccer using no goalie. My experience in playing soccer informally in high school and college was that goalie was NOT a popular position. Most coveted position was center forward. Everybody wanted to be free to run around on the field, passing the ball around, making tackles, lobbing the ball in front of their goal, and attacking their goal. When nobody wanted to play goalie, we had to rotate, and when I was goalie I was not happy. When it came time for a penalty kick someone told me to just choose a corner and dive for it. What a lousy position to be in. At best I had a 50% probability of diving to the correct corner.
  7. Apple Gabriel, or Albert Craig, of Israel Vibration fame, "We A De Rasta." First turn up your subwoofer to enjoy reggae totally! Then go to the river!
  8. I was also wondering that. Is it possible for the kicker to "read" the goalie and change direction during the kick? My guess is that in general the kicker has more accuracy kicking with their dominant foot to the opposite side of the goal. For example, since I am right-footed, I would have best accuracy kicking towards my left side of the goal, which would be the goalie's right. In the World Cup match France Vs Croatia, the French penalty kick was low, towards the kickers left (goalie's right) but goalie already made the decision to dive to his left. If he had decided to dive the other way he would have easily blocked the shot. That is why I ask why don't world-class soccer players practice hitting the top 2 corners which are impossible to defend? Because when you practice shooting HIGH whenever you miss, the ball sails a long way to be retrieved. They should shoot at targets on a wall to practice. Right. The goalie dives to one side and forward to restrict the angle of the shot.
  9. Does that mean a universe composed of bosons can overlap our universe? I'm ok with the prospect that an infinite number of universes could overlap in the same space, just on different dimensions.
  10. Can anyone explain the rules for a goalie, and the kicker, during a penalty kick? Is the goalie supposed to not move until the kicker kicks, or when? When is the optimal moment for the goalie to dive for whichever corner he decides to dive for?
  11. How can two things occupy the same space at the same time?
  12. The most recent message from the stable-genius, "our favorite president" about Putin's "incredible deal" of exchanging with the Mueller investigation, which includes sending 12 of Putin's enemies to Moscow for questioning (maybe execution?). Trump thought over the "incredible deal" for several days before answering that he "disagreed" with Putin's "sincere offer." This is getting Orwellian. Trump just does not see it, because of his delusion. He really thinks everybody is just like his employees (with non-disclosure agreements) or other people he manipulated and coerced by his wealth. He got away with stupid ideas, ALL HIS LIFE, and those around him merely said "Good idea, Donald!" When he came up with the absurd idea to explain any confusion about his Helsinki performance, by saying he meant WOULDN'T and not WOULD. Everyone around him said, "yes, yes, good idea Donald!"
  13. That's a different case. My special case is IF the building blocks interact. Dark matter doesn't interact with anything, except gravitationally, and DM is not considered another universe. Interesting, could you please elaborate on this and how orthogonal number lines can represent physical reality where several universes that are infinite in size can co-exist? I'm trying hard to visualize. Yes because how can something finite in size become infinite in size? No matter how fast the expansion rate, something with a finite size, in 3 dimensions, cannot "grow" into something infinite in size in a finite time period. Over an infinite period of time would it approach infinity?
  14. Perhaps if you eliminated the goalie position, scoring would be higher and even more people would be interested!
  15. No, I agreed with you completely. Zapatos: "I thought we were speaking hypothetically. If we are talking about two universes that expand like the Big Bang in all directions then I agree it cannot happen." There you agreed with me. Now let's not speak hypothetically for a moment. Let's speak physical feasibility. You cannot have 2 universes, that have infinite sizes (in 3 dimensions) co-existing. If you can, then explain how you can. "Vector universes" are infinite in only one direction, but that can't happen physically, it seems to me. And I just made up the term "vector universes."
  16. Theoretically, mathematically, you can have an infinite number of infinities, you cannot have more than one universe with an infinite size. Unless someone can explain how you can? Universes are not shaped like number lines. They are 3 dimensional structures.
  17. Yes but the space between numbers can never grow to an infinite size.
  18. His diehards are with him no matter what because they believe the ends justify the means, at any cost. The "ends" is to make America great again. To his supporters it doesn't matter how outrageous Trump is, he is just doing the dirty work for our own good. Now I wonder what percentage of his supporters were fans of "The Apprentice"? This looks like a cult of personality more than anything. Trump gave his most recent performance yesterday, explaining all the confusion in Helsinki was simply word choice, he meant WOULDN'T and not WOULD. Did anyone notice how he looked labored reading from the script? It looked difficult for him to say the word "conclusion". He looks aged and his speech was nearly slurred but muffled like the Godfather. It looks like he is transforming into Marlon Brando as Don Corleone in front of our eyes.
  19. "President Donald Trump attempted on Tuesday to clarify his widely criticized comments in Helsinki, saying that he had misspoken when he said a day earlier that he did not see why Russia WOULD have meddled in the election. Trump said Tuesday he meant to say he did not see any reason why it wouldn't have been Russia that interfered. "I thought that I made myself very clear, but having just reviewed the transcript I realized that there is a need for some clarification," Trump said Tuesday at the White House. "The sentence should have been...'I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be Russia'." https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/24-hours-later-trump-claims-he-misspoke-in-helsinki-meant-to-say-russia-did-have-reason-to-meddle-in-election/ar-AAAdJrm Again, Trump assumes everybody is too stupid to notice his absurd "correction." There is no way he really meant to say "I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be Russia." That is contrary to the context of what he said before and after, that Putin is "strong and powerful" (BTW that shows some mental lapse since strong and powerful are the same thing.) If it was true that he really thought it was Russia, then he would, or should, have confronted Putin with lying to him. "Mr. Putin I believe you are lying to me." People who were spoiled their entire life think they can always get away with anything, here is another example.
  20. If you average the quarterly economic growth of just the last 4 years of Obama, that is an average of 2.3%. Compare that to the forecast of 2.8% this year and 2.4% in 2019 for Trump. You would think his tax cuts and deregulation would have more impact than that.
  21. Yes, but how does a "vector big bang" happen? That is counter-intuitive. A big bang has to be an event that expands in all directions. How can it expand in only one direction?
  22. That is hard to imagine. So they end on one side and are infinite on the other side? Vector universes? Sounds implausible.
  23. Yes it "took a wicked deflection." The ball would have entered the goal within reach of the goalie. The head-nudge pushed the ball higher and out of his reach! The goalie was trying to figure out the new trajectory of the ball after the header and didn't have time to react. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fY3Z3od-kE8 The foul is at 0:30. Looks like a real free kick foul. However, it also looks like the Frenchman did a good job of faking contact. Hard to tell.
  24. I was not aware of that. Good point. Pence and Trump are soooo connected that they may go away together.
  25. Ok you got me there. I accept that multiple universes can occupy the same 3 spatial dimensions as you describe. Now can you show me how they can co-exist IF the building blocks of Universe A must interact with B. If it is impossible for them to NOT interact, if they must interact, then you cannot have co-existing universes that are infinite in size.
