ISIS has been getting away with a horrendous murder rampage across Syria and Iraq, but now they went too far burning the Jordanian pilot alive. Beheading is tame in comparison. Jordan is reacting saying they will revenge this murder. Why have I not heard the two magic words when it comes to defeating ISIS: INFILTRATION and DEPROGRAMMING? Train people to join ISIS and appear to be "normal psychopaths" which is what ISIS needs. If ISIS cannot trust its' recruits any longer, it will collapse. Also there are a lot of impressionable youths who need to be deprogrammed in an Islamic deprogramming camp. The good news is probably Jordan and some other local countries will get busy with an infiltration program.

Earth is over 2,000 times the mass of the entire asteroid belt (1) in that relatively small region between Mars and Jupiter. Don't you think Jupiter would pull such a huge mass off balance and slam it into either Mars or Jupiter is short order? (1) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceres_(dwarf_planet)
-
Since the total mass of the asteroid belt is far lower than the mass of the Earth, in fact Ceres is only 600 miles across and it contains a third of the mass of the asteroid belt, I would suspect that an Earth-sized object orbiting in the asteroid belt would NOT be stable because it is so much more massive than the asteroid belt.

Milky way galaxy mass vs. black hole mass
Airbrush replied to David Levy's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
Supermassive black holes have a mass of about 1% of the mass of the galaxy, or less, I'm not sure. Does anyone remember the ratio? The mass of the galaxy depends upon the mass of the SBH. During its' quasar phase it pushes gas and dust away which terminates the growth of the galaxy. You would think that SBH must form very early in the universe because you need the critical amount of matter close enough together. So how long after the big bang did the first SBH form? How long after the big bang until the first matter congealed from energy? -
Gather up radicalized youths who intend to join jihad and take them to a reprogramming camp where they stay until "cured". You have the very best, most charismatic Imams to explain to these misguided youths, over and over, all day long, that dying for jihad is not smart. The camp will be very strict about religion and everybody needs to do ALL their prayers and listen to all the deprogramming. And read the Quran for several hours a day. Same for "white power" skinheads who are nominally Christian, or any other radical religious group that promotes fighting and dying for them. They should all get a relevant, quality deprogramming camp to re-educate them.

I googled "Charlie Hebdo English version" and the best I can judge by reading the top 4 articles is that there still is no English version. And I think if an English version appears it will probably be like this utube which will show the cartoons in French with a note on the side translating some of it. I was hoping for a totally English version, not a French version with small English side notes. If anyone learns how to order a single English copy for $3.50 plus P&H, please explain here, thanks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U56q428amN0

Yes we all have the right to insult, but there is a possibility of being in "trouble" that whomever you insult may take the law into their own hands and hurt you because of it. Then you have to acuse them of battery, but that does not fix your physical injury. The person that hurts you physically, because of your verbal insult, needs to believe you will NOT call the cops on him, which is a delusional attitude. And delusion is very common among all people. Hey folks, Charlie Hebdo will be available in English, Spanish, and Arabic, so buy a copy or subscribe today! Arnold Schwarzenegger purchased 10 subscriptions. I'm going to see how to buy an English copy. My research finds it's a weekly mag and a year subscription is $181. US (about $3.50 per issue) on Amazon.com, but I need the ENGLISH version and there is no mention how to obtain an English version. Also it seems stupid there are a number of articles ABOUT the next Charlie Hebdo, it will be 3 million copies, but not one gives a clue HOW to by one English language issue. Is Charlie Hebdo stupid? If not, why don't they give a clue how somebody can buy a damn copy? http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=subscriptions+magazine&tag=googhydr-20&index=magazines&hvadid=49843307905&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=150884328278866957&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_349lsgbhzr_b

Making pejorative commentary is not loony. What is loony is how secure they felt, even after the firebombing of their offices and anonymous death threats. I would have packed up, taken down my shingle, and moved to another location, and this time not put up my shingle. Either that or make a public apology. But that would be the end of their free speech. Sorry they were delusional and they have lost their ability for free speech by being dead. These kind of terrorists attacks are common in the mid-East, now France had a rude awakening. The good news is other satirical magazines will now be more careful. How often do people die falling out of bed? Anyhow that is a very amusing comparison, however exaggerated. Other than that, I agree with you.

Thank you for the translation. Does anyone know if a disgusting portrayal of the Prophet is to Muslims as bad as in the USA for a white person to use the N word? They are killing people who create disgusting portrayals of the Prophet because even though they will not look at the images themself out of their piety, NO ONE should look at such images. Do moderate Muslims think it a crime for ANYONE to look at such images and get pleasure from it? I don't recall Mad magazine ever using the N word. Would Mad magazine be "tame" in comparison to Charlie Hebdo? How about "Zap" comics similar to Charlie Hebdo?
-
Could you please translate this into English for those readers that don't read French?
-
There is the argument that the "wicked" satire of Charlie Hebdo was RACIST against Arabs and/or Muslims. It is comparable to white people using the N word. As for satire, I grew up reading "Mad Magazine" which is critical of everyone.

The merger will probably involve the supermassive black holes orbiting each other and spiraling inward over time. Each SBH will be dragging stars, gas, and dust with them, so each SBH will crash through the other's accretion disk. This will stir up everything around both SBHs so both will start feeding on the chaos of stars, gas, and dust.

The magic word is "DEPROGRAMMING". That is how you fight this kind of terrorism. Whenever you capture youths trying to go and fight in Syria, you take them to a deprogramming camp. You keep them there until they are deprogrammed of their cult programming. Change their minds through persuasive means. Maybe you can even turn them to work for the good side. Train them in anti-terrorism and send them into the cults to take names and call in drone strikes. Dismantle the extremist cults from the inside.
-
This also shows how loony the cartoonists are. These cartoonists think having mere "police protection" will make them safe. Now..... everyone in the industry .... beware. Be discreet, but get your free speech out there, and stay alive doing it. Moving is not a big deal to cartoonists and writers, since most work in solitary at home. All you need to move is a few desks, file cabinets, PCs, printers, etc. They are not like a church, saloon, or restaurant, that needs for the public to have easy access.
-
The lesson to be learned by all radical magazines that insult radical Islam that having a "rent-a-cop" around is not protection enough. You need to take more steps to maintain your safety so you can continue FREE speech. I suggest you do not walk around in public places with your free speech written on your back. They had police protection, but that was not protection enough. "Swamp Fox, Swamp Fox, hiding in the glen, He ran away to fight again."
-
The world SHOULD be the way we would like it to be. It is not. Better to live in fear of intimidation by criminals, if that is how you can continue your free speech, than to die courageously which terminates your free speech.
-
Making yourself accessible to delusional killers is not a smart way to support free speech. The way to CONTINUE your free speech is from a safe location, not to die. Salmon Rushdie is still alive because he went into hiding. The terrorists are delusional actors, and the fine people at Charlie Hebdo, who I admire, would still be practicing their FREE speech if they were NOT delusional. Sorry, even good people can be delusional occasionally. My father was a cartoonist all his life until age 90. He got me into an illustration class with a famous illustrator. One of the first things the illustrator told his class was "During times of political upheaval, the first persons to hang are the CARTOONISTS. Now draw yourself as a political figure." I could not do that because I could not imagine myself as a political figure. When he came by my desk and saw I did not draw anything, he asked me "Why didn't you do anything?" My answer was "Because I can't".
-
That is absurdly rhetorical and very easy for you to ask. If YOUR life is threatened, you take steps to be safe, or you are an idiot ready to die for your cause. Right? The people of Charlie Hebdo, who were killed, were living recklessly, and even joked about it. They could still be alive and doing their magazine in safety if they simply moved their operations. Magazine producers have no need for public access. I am not a cartoonist making fun of Islam, and I value my anonymity anyway, and I am sure you do too. We all know why cartoonists and writers SHOULD hide from threats to their lives. The answer is to survive. Duhhhh. Cartoonists and writers who insult such a sensitive group as radical Islamist, SHOULD not have to. But the world is the way it is, sorry about that. You must roll with the punches. Don't be delusional about your safety, do whatever you must to be safe.
-
For what reason would the cartoonists and writers of a satirical magazine, that had been fire-bombed and received death threats, NEED for the public to know where they are located?
-
In the future, publishers of such provocative magazines should maintain anonymity of LOCATION, so the bad guys don't know where the magazine-makers are located. And the magazine is available on thousands of public newstands as well as online.

Recent terrorist attack in Paris (12 killed and 4 seriously injured) on the magazine Charlie Hebdo, and I have not heard anything about getting their message out to the world to counter the intentions of the terrorists. So what I propose is some big publishing company, covertly behind the scenes, coming to the aid of Charlie Hebdo and translate their magazine into English and Spanish, the most widely spoken languanges on Earth, and send it all over the world to supporters of free speech. It could prove to be a big money-maker. Translate it into as many languages as possible to show these terrorists what their actions will inspire. I would subscribe to a year of Charlie Hebro if it was available in English. That is how you counter delusional actors. If N.Korea attacks Sony over a silly comedy, then "The Interview" becomes popular, most downloaded. Same should happen to Charlie Hebdo. And I don't even know how good a magazine it is. "The Interview" was stupid and offensive, but I defended their right to be so, and so I enjoyed watching it!

The merging of the 2 galaxies will certainly create a double quasar that will oribit itself until they merge into a single larger quasar. That will last millions of years until it goes dormant. As stated above, only those regions of the new supergalaxy "Milkamada" blow torched by the quasars' polar jets will become uninhabitable.
-
The beginning of the movie "The Interview" shows a N.Korean assembly to hear a girl sing a song that is extremely, unbelievably anti-USA. Is that fictional or do they traditionally express in public an obsessive hatred for America?
-
Some in the cybersecurity community think the Sony hack was an inside job, and not North Korea. The cybersecurity experts presented their case to the FBI, but the FBI is sticking with their original claim that the hack was by N.Korea. Cybersecurity experts say it is possible N.Korea did the hack and the evidence for this is not available from the FBI, maybe because it is too sensitive. http://nypost.com/2014/12/30/new-evidence-sony-hack-was-inside-job-cyber-experts/

why most of space videos & images are CGI?
Airbrush replied to Ganesh Ujwal's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
Most space videos are CGI because they can illustrate for the viewer better than the data we get from cameras. Yet the CGI is totally based upon photographic evidence. It's all about catering to our eyes and imagination. Also, CGI can be manipulated so you can see an object from different angles, where the actual camera cannot.
