  1. why then, do species all seem to have that one mutation, i know, natural selection kills off the weak, and leaves the ones with the good mutation, but that means that multiple organisms of the same species would have to have that same or similiar mutation, and then mate, and those kin would have to mate with others that have similiar mutations, but not their relatives, because that causes mutations in its own{does that mean that inbreds are more likely to have a good mutation too}, and the odds just stack up dont they? so how can one species all change like that? like the white wolf in snowy climates, or brown in forests, those odds are just too high, arent they? its beleiveable to say that the ones with the good mutation live and the bad normal ones die, leaving only mutated ones, but that means that theyed have to find another of the same species with the same mutation, if the mutation is recessive and not dominate. so lets say 5 cubs are born{ill go with wolves}, well out of those 5 cubs, 2 come out dark and eventually die, so 3 cubs, need to find others to mate with that have the same mutation as them, and more of that mutation than anything else{like parents with that mutation}, and now this has to be done like 30-40x. {judging by quick rounding in my head and population limit for extinction is about 100, or things get inbred and mutations are bad and they all die} really? that sounds pretty unlikely to me, though i could be wrong. thanks.
  2. that sounds promising for a cancer cure. maybe we could use this in our bodies. just less extreme. thank you mr. skeptic. someones getting rep points.
  3. how much energy does a vaccum use to suck all the stuff out of the container? can vaccums be made with simple tools?
  4. how do they actually split it? thats whats puzzeled me, do they slam a particle into a uranium atom to split it? no.
  5. but they cost so much. there like 50 bucks plus, i dont where glasses and it costs extra to get my eyes measured. bummer.
  6. no, i believe you guys, and i have looked at a couple of those links, and your right, hes wrong. and, actually, i asked him about it earlier and he still stuck with the idea that he was right. he said that water does get past the latex, it just takes a while. but that still says that if it takes a while then the holes are pretty small, and way too small for hiv to get past it, but i didnt push it, because my question was in front of the class and he was getting angry. eek.
  7. i have bright blue eyes, so there already pretty cool, but id like some even lighter eyes, like near white. thatd rock.
  8. why dont we see big mutations like different amount of arms or stuff that often then? thanks for your help man.
  9. why dont we humans have mutations much? do we? i read that cancer is a mutation. not a very good one though. is this true?
  10. he didnt really say not to use them, he just said that they dont help against hiv much. but your right, i should have looked at experiments and data. my bad.
  11. is "he" still the chemistry guy? i thought you guys broke up?
  12. ahh! damn, stop the feeding frenzy, i give up. jeez. my professuer lectured us the other day that people should be aware of this{what i talked about}, i was just saying what he said. im not trying to say anyone is wrong, i just thought i was right, and that all of you knew what i was talking about already. i didnt even think about water moleculed being smaller than hiv, it never really occured. i guess im gulible when it comes to him teaching me stuff. i kind of like the guy, ill belive what he says and not even think twice about it. i plan to ask him about it tomorow. so tell the vultures to stop pecking, my bad.
  13. what can we do or take to increase its levels? would it be toxic? I WANT AWSOME EYES!
  14. god, i know right. stupid normal gene fusing. Merged post follows: Consecutive posts mergeddoes anyone know if melanin is naturally occuring substance?
  15. i ment microscope woops. out of these, what are the best for cell observation and whats the cheapest? so are afm's the best for this? what does this stand for? i know stm is scan-tunneling-microscope, but i havent heard of the first. thanks.
  16. when i think of something like this, i think of a blue whale floating freely in space. whats the image that you guys would think an organism like this would look like?
  17. would it be possible to alter someone to produce metal instead of bone? different food intake would be required, but why not? but motors are alot heavier than muscles right? so why would they be better than them in this?
  18. i got my info for post 25 from my biology professuer.
  19. maybe have many animals genetically altered in space. so it would be an ecosystem in space. something that i was wondering about, is, what would things use for movement? could a gyroscope like movement be used?
  20. look up rhino. its a pretty good one. you can get a bootlegged one for free too if you look hard enough. but to tell you the truth, i tried it out, and i just would rather draw it out on a peice of paper and build a prototype myself. i think thats one of the funnest parts of it all.
  21. in space without any protection it would have an outer layer itself to protect it from the harsh space environment. wich could be constantly repared by cells and others. it could also, i dont know, recycle its own air by having plants and bacteria or algae living inside of it itself. like a living spaceship. probably be closely related to a blue whale id think. so, ya, i think its possible.
  22. no. its not. now im not defending any religions, but i know that wearing a condom doesnt do squat to preventing hiv. in latex there is small holes, wich increase in size once stretched. these holes are small enough to stop any spermatoid cells from slipping through, but hiv is much smaller than sperm. hiv can slip through. wearing condoms dont increase the chance of hiv at al, and saying that was quite stupid, but they dont do much on preventing it either. as for the rest of the article. i agree with most of you guys, it is essentially popularity suicide to do what he did. yet it was for a good cause, just the totally wrong action.
