  1. You sound like me, I have a high metabolism and have to eat like a wolf.
  2. So there is absolutely no way you could isolate it from other emotions? On the other hand, fear messes you up. You are overwhelmed by emotion, you can become irrational or just seize up. A brave person can fight their way through these things but they're still affected. Do you really need to feel threatened to react in the appropriate way? I don't fear mild to moderate pain, but it doesn't mean I'm going to crush cans with my head.
  3. No we don't. I didn't say we owed them something. I merely said THEY don't owe US anything. Look at it this way, is it ok to grab a random person off the street and do some experiments on them? Nope, thought not. So why another mammal?
  4. In theory I would have no problem with it, in reality you would probably get hordes of parents who all wanted blonde blue eyed children with an IQ of 140 or over. Like someone else already said people would end up all having the same DNA. Plus lots more families seem to want sons for some reason. You would probably get a skewed gender ratio as happened in China when they enforced their one child policy. Also if you created people with very enhanced abilities you could end up with one section in society being vastly superior with the 'normal' people being discriminated against. As much as I like the idea of being able to decide what your kid would look like and what they'd be good at, I don't think it should be legal unless for medical reasons.
  5. How is it limiting anyone's personal freedom?? Animals don't owe us anything. The argument that a few should suffer for the good of all doesn't cut ice with me, either. If someone feels that so strongly they should volunteer to be the guinea pig themselves.
  6. **** the Pope. If a bunch of kids created a whole church around their invisible friend in the playground, would anyone take them seriously? Nope, and the pope is no different, except more powerful.
  7. I would prefer not being able to feel fear - you would still have the rational judgement to know you were in danger, without the unpleasant emotional effects and clouding of reason that fear causes.
  8. Just removing the ability to feel fear is not damage, it would be useful. I mean: if you can do complex neurosurgery, surely you can do this without injuring any other part of the brain?
  9. I'm a vegetarian.
  10. Indeed. Though I feel like getting pregnant and aborting it just to spite people who believe that it is a sin no matter what.
  11. If you can do complex neurosurgery, surely you could make the necessary alteration without doing damage?
  12. No....like wings made from carbon fibre or something such, attached to your back...
  13. That's ****ing horrid, no one has the right to do that to an animal. Why can't they use this technique on people who receive organ transplants? It would save them taking immunosuppressants.
  14. No I meant an inorganic device that was attached to the body, like Wolverine's adamantium skeleton, but outside...
  15. What would happen if an amphibian were to live in salt water for any period of time? Would they absorb too much salt through their skin and suffer health problems?
  16. Could you somehow alter the brain so that a person was unable to feel fear? Like that girl Gaia Moore in that series by Francine Pascal?
  17. Couldn't the wings be inorganic rather than biological? Like a carbon fiber device or something?

    Thanks for answering that Mokele

I was thinking of 2 sisters who I go to kickboxing class with, they both have very little fat and not much visible muscle, and both are disproportionately powerful. Could such "wiry" people have most of the muscle taken up with the contractile stuff?

How come some humans can be really thin without much muscle and still be disproportionately strong?
  21. Cool, I'll check them out.
  22. Blue Oyster Cult? Sounds cool. I must check them out.
  23. I'd have it done definitely, if I could keep the thing offline for security reasons.
  24. It certainly relieves negative emotions, but doesn't necessarily relax you. Listening to metal for example always makes me feel better, but it's not relaxing, it can really get your adrenaline going. If you specifically want to listen to music to relax, listen to something slow with a heavy bass resonance, like Massive Attack.
