Yes, I understand this. What I'm asking is how this occurs, how does a photon form out of the energy of the electron?
-
Okay, how does a electron absorb a photon? Can anyone explain this to me, or is it one of those things in physics that can't be broken down into laymens terms? Or is their even a mathematical explanation of this phenomena?

In the wiki entry on time, it says http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time#Physical_definition Can anyone better help explain what physicists mean by time in general relativity?

I think I disproved evolution
Peron replied to Peron's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
I did think about about it and the only conclusion I could come to, is that the reason most humans engage in hedonism is because we are intelligent to the point that we can subvert our genes. Humans can recognize their instincts and choose to not carry them out, if we don't want to. I think another explanation came from Richard Dawkins; in one of his lectures, he describes how humans can replace their genes with social memes, these social memes mimic genes, producing the illusion of brotherhood or kinship i.e religions. I liked that explanation, but I needed to cross reference it. -
I think I disproved evolution

You seem to be a little hostile towards the post. I want to understand things better. -
Okay, so if I want to launch a Krasnikov type mission to a globular star cluster 25,000 light years away. The people on Earth still have to wait 25,000 years before the spaceship can get there? Or since the krasnikov tube is a tunnel through time, then as soon as the ship leaves, the ship comes back with out the people on Earth having to have to wait?

Okay if natural selection only selects the most beneficial mutations to the organism, then how does sky diving, or skiing, or even wearing a condom benefit humans. In a way humans are going against their nature, we engage in tasks that are not beneficial to our own survival, using a condom ensures that we don't pass on our genetic material, when clearly natural selection should have programmed us into sex maniacs to ensure that we propagate and survive. And why do people adopt other peoples kids? Some birds actually through out their cousins from the nest to ensure their own survival. Humans are a complete 360 from what nature should have made us. So, whats going on, is this the first crack in evolutionary theory?

Well, how would a society progress if the society is stressed environmentally or economically, if they adhere to a single unchanging doctrine?
-
Opinions that are baseless and "fact-less" (like the tea party movement) should be thrown out the window.

Am I missing something about conservatism or am I right? Here is the thing, if conservatives want to "preserve" traditional economic and political systems, then how can they react to economic, social, or environmental changes? Wouldn't conservatism stifle changes that are so needed in society? If societies stagnant and do not progress economically, socially, and politically, is that society at risk of collapsing?

I'm having trouble understanding how the Krasnikov Tube works.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krasnikov_tube Is it a time machine? Is it only a F.T.L drive relative to the crew that departs Earth?

This might not fit into the evolution thread, but I had no where to put it. I recently picked up a book called "I don't believe in atheists" bu Chris Hedges In it he makes some very crazy claims. "is a critique of what Hedges perceives as a radical mindset that rages against religion and faith. Hedges states the book was motivated by debates he had with atheist authors Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchens whom Hedges feels excessively demonize religion, particularly Islam, in ways that Hedges believed were eerily similar to the thinking of Christian fundamentalists." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Hedges#I_Don.27t_Believe_in_Atheists_.282008.29

Thanks for all the information.

A electric universe theorist nagged me about Einstein's famous mass=energy equivalence equation, arguing that a Italian physicist was first to propose the equation. Has anyone got any information about this topic?

Sorry about not explaining as much as I should have. http://quantummechanics.ucsd.edu/ph130a/130_notes/node512.html Vacuum polarization can lead to degeneracy pressure, which causes repulsion. Since, this effect can move objects, I was wondering how you can make a space drive using this effect to move your spaceship.
-
Hmm, no replies must be a bad idea.
-
In quantum mechanics, the vacuum is composed of a boiling see of electromagnetic waves. Thats what gets polarized. This can lead to a repulsive force, Im wondering if you can use it for propulsion.
-
If the vacuum is polarized around a object, it can lead to a repulsion force. Could a spacecraft polarize the vacuum around itself and use this as a propulsion device?

Kind of a evolution question.
Peron replied to Peron's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
Hmm, so their are no statistics. What about acceptance rates to lets say science? -
I'm writing a paper on evolution I would like some statistics about how many papers on evolution are submitted, how many are accepted and how many are rejected, every year. In other words how many papers on evolution survive the peer review process? Thanks.

Oh, I didn't have enough time to go through all the posts.

Turns out it's all a scam!!

People are always acting like their are only two types of systems in existence. Why not give, Syndicalism a try, or Anarchism? Merged post follows: Consecutive posts merged Their are more modern economic system out their, that are less popular.

So, what is a magnetic field made out of then?
