  1. That question does not make any sense at all. You can't go back in time. So it doesn't matter what would happen to the first universe. And why is this in the Astronomy/Cosmology forum?
  2. The energy of motion turns into m, your mass. The faster you move, the heavier you get
  3. Did you smoke crack?
  4. Sorry but I disagree. So far only governments have managed to explore space. It's gotta be more open to the public in general. Go to the street right now and ask a random stranger if he knows the New Horizons spacecraft, for example. He won't know it. It has gotta be more open to the public, or at least the space agencies should do something more interesting, like I said in the article, a reality show on Mars. THAT will bring the public with them
  5. Tell me one person you know (friend, family member, etc.) that has sent a probe into space. Just one is enough for me I agree with every single word you said. Also, people will only care about something if that something can be dangerous or harmful to them. Otherwise they won't care less about, say, how a magnet can magically "glue" itself to a fridge. I don't want to sound like an asshole, but geez, there are people who still blindly believe in the legend of the flying zombie jew.
  6. What they are really trying to say is that there are many, many galaxies out there
  7. It can't be seen because it is energy. It is not matter or something that reflects electromagnetic radiation
  8. Once again, thanks for the replies. But... When I said "that's so obvious" I was referring to the fact that the milky Way is on the way. The Universe being flat or not is something a totally different subject which I still don't think I understand. What made scientists believe that the Universe could be any different than flat? (which is like the Standard)
  9. Oh the line is the milky way on the way. That's so obvious. Thanks for the replies so far. However, I still don't get it. Astronomers believe that the Universe is "flat". But what made them think it could be spherical or hyperbolic? If you randomly pick three points in space and add the angles together, it will equal 180º. That's pretty obvious.
  10. Hello. First of all I'd like to apologize for the shitty posts I made since I joined. But hey, poeple can change. Well, now to the topic: Most physicists consider the Universe to be flat, right? But what does it mean to be flat? The Universe expanded in three dimensions, so how can it possibly be flat? Also, I'd like someone to explain me what that flat region in the cosmic microwave background radiation map is. What does that mean? Does that mean that the Universe is hotter in that flat region, and if so, why is that? I got a feeling that my second question might answer the first one, but hey, I'm confused
  11. Well, thank you. @ajb Haha, i get your point. But the Universe is different. I believe people HAVE to know the Big Bang theory, to know our place in the Universe... All these examples you mentioned are secondary stuff.
  12. As obvious as it may seem, Dark Matter is Dark Matter. It is matter that doesn't interact with light and accounts for most of the gravity we see
  13. If more people were able to go to space, then there would be more astronauts. If there were more astronauts there would be more people interested in space. Or in Astronomy.
  14. this may be my favoriteimage ever
  15. I was talking about going to space. If you at least read my article on medium you'd know what I was talking about
  16. After God washed the fabric of space time, he wrung it but forgot to iron. That's what dark matter is, the wrung space time
  17. nothing is impossible
  18. link removed As a psychology student and an amateur astronomer I decided to write this, I hope it can accurately describe you! Share your thoughts
  19. Web browsers do that all the time. You can see that it is a link to Medium.com . It is just a website where you can write and publish your stuff
  20. Ok, I'll sum it up. 1- Space isn't accessible 2- Big Numbers 3- It usually doesn't benefit us 4- Astronomy education could be better 5- light pollution in big cities. If you can think of something else, keep listing.
  21. Hello guys. Well, I'd like to share an article I wrote about that. I really felt like I had to write this https://medium.com/astronomy-cosmology-space-exploration/cd70cb8cb68f Feel free to tell me what you think, if you agree or not and why. advertising link removed It kinda saddens me that most people are too ignorant about the big stuff out there
