  1. Yeah, look at our president, prime example.
  2. The thing is, stereotypes don't start from nowhere. There is a small grain of truth in every one. For example, the stereotype that all whites are racist certainly isn't helped by guys like the KKK.

    E.t.

It is highly probable for life to exist on at least one other planet. But have we made contact with them? Not a chance.
  4. I have not dismissed metatrons posts as crap, although some would believe this is uncharacteristic of me. I just want metatron to explain it in simpler terms, because after a few sentences, it becomes a mishmosh of wierdness and vague terms. I would also like a picture of this "gaia egg" and a short explanation of exactly how it puts such a large hole in current evolution theory. Explaining why metatron's alleged big discovery has not made news yet (as it should have) or been studied by any mainstream scientists would also be nice. I am a skeptic, but I am not skeptical of anything supported by evidence, if it exists.

    Halo 2

I actually just got done beating Halo 2 for the 6th time. In single player, there are things called "skulls" that you can find on legendary that can tweak the gameplay. I think at one point you can find an easter egg that allows you to use the Scarab gun.
  6. I've been to this, and a lot of other creationist sites. Hovind calls himself "Dr. Dino" as you know, but he got his education at a diploma mill, and refers to plesiosaurs as 'aquatic dinos". This is nothing more than a cheap publicity stunt. When pressed, he revealed the only way to win the prize is to travel back in time and confirm that life started via abiogenesis. Hovind is a idiot, and an embarassment even to other creationists. Childish delusions. Some PhD he is. He's seriously one of the only creationists that still use these as evidence. "Up to date scientific info" aka "whatever new b.s. some creationist dreamt up." And yeah, there are lots of dinosaurs around today. They are called "birds". Even if reports of kongamato and the mokele mbembe were confirmed, this would still not hurt evolution. LOL bascule, I'm glad you see the humor in this as I do
  7. True. Hey, even Americans are stereotyped. I actually laugh pretty hard when we are portrayed as rich, stupid pansies (not that all of us really are), but you really have to learn to laugh it off. Heck, there are stereotypes for people within individual states here.
  8. well, duh! Exactly what are they talking about here? Yeah, creationists love to point out, or imagine, flaws in evolution and use it as proof of their religious creation story. Yah gotta love it. I whole-heartedly agree.
  9. Thanks Any Mod's wanna give away the secret about the new plans for the Religion forum? I'm very intrigued.
  10. thanks. you're, um, welcome.
  11. Thanks for explaining that more in depth, island (welcome, BTW), In truth, I don't know much about physics, just a smattering of interesting stuff, hence the liighthearted jest at myself above.
  12. you are forgetting about the nature of chemical reactions, and the fact that evolution is not totally random. The entropy of an organism can decrease, becasue it is not a closed system. Even I know something about thermodynamics .
  13. No, and why would it? Creationists are the ones that think evolution should "stop" with more complex organisms (microevolution/macroevolution). Do you know anything about the scientific theory and fact you are presuming to attack? Yeah, god used the fossils of "space dinos" to make the earth.
  14. Evolution. There is simply no better explanation.
  15. I'll take that as a compliment.
  16. sorry if I lept to conclusions then.... On the contrary, all of the recent threads in the religion forum have been polls asking people their opinions, i.e. "do you believe in god", "what god do you believe in", etc. And "no god" is always one of the options. Atheist opinions are therefore certainly not unwelcome. Past threads about the bible or god, you will notice, contain no posts (from me anyways) butting in to simply say "why are you guys talking about this, there is no god..." or something to that effect. That would be silly, IMO. I don't believe in what they are talking about, so I don't offer my opinion. But I agree with you, the word "proof" has no place in a discussion about faith, and you will see that I recently humorously heckled a member for saying as much. Again, if the thread is asking people for opinions about religion, atheists have every right to participate. Maybe in some cases they do want to antagonize, but I haven't noticed any overt attempts to do so.
  17. I didn't want people to think this is how I feel. I just wanted to point out that each viewpoint's adhereants are as entitle to express themselves as the other. Although I do not believe in the same things as theists, I recognize that they are as entitled to their opinion and worldview as I am. I will defend myself and my atheism when necessary, but do not think thiests are full of crap or have the wrong opinion, but I recognize that they simply have an opinion or beliefs which I do not share. This may be true in some cases, but as I said, I am more than willing to let everyone have their own opinions. Faith is faith and science is science. As long as they stay seperate, and both sides of the spectrum recognize this, then there shouldn't be any conflict of this sort. But since all of us here are scientifically inclined, this conflict is to inevitably result every once in a while.
  18. heres a link about raven intelligence http://i.gms1.net/midas/?typ=1&vcid=&cid=2XDQLB&aid=0&plid=0&sid=0&cat=0⊂=0&pop=&frq=&click=&swf=true&ref=819393893524249696962374878078857982917823768886248277249174957887928487889685787780782475829177759174828778772381938685&ccb=87946476 (holy crap) and another: http://www.wilderdom.com/intelligence/IQExampleTests.html
  19. The paper should be interesting, to say the least, Deified. I find crow and raven intelligence fascinating, as I see these birds every single day, and the the fact that there is a thinking animal in front of me astounds me.
  20. and you have convinced me of that, BTW
  21. Why should we? Its under "Other topics"' date=' and your post count won't go up by posting there. Other forums may not have it, but so what? I find it rather enjoyable to have an all-purpose forum where I can not only discuss science, but other unrelated topics as well. Atheists are entitled to their opinions as well. I personally take offense to you labeling everything an ahteist says about religion as "bullshit". Our opinions are just as valid as yours, so don't be a hatemonger. No one is twisting anyone's arm to not simply do this. The same could be said for theists and their arguments (although I don't automatically assume everything they say is crap, like you do about atheist opinions) I agree with you about faith, but so far, the only member with this opinion is you. Basically you want the religion forum removed because you don't like atheists posting there. Nice. Good luck to ya buddy. If you want to petition the admins, a better idea would be to post a poll under the "suggestions" forum.
  22. I don't believe in censoring pornography, or anything for that matter. For guys, it is sort of a right of passage and a learning experience, if you watch it the right way.
  23. Hello to all new members. I know I don't post many greetings, but welcome to the forum.
  24. its all in plain sight when you are reading the threads in a particular forum.
