    Rat Dissection

In high school bio, we dissected living, but stunned frogs. A lot of the more squeamish people refused to do it, and had to write an essay instead. The classes the years after me got to dissect a yellow perch, a lamprey and a frog. (Lucky!) It wasn't that bad, I mean, I like frogs, but I like hands on learning too. Just try not to think of it as alive, more like, a science project and you will do fine.
  2. LOL I guess if they do this, I might just go see it then.
  3. yeah I don't get showtime. Darn it. Do they have any DVD's out or anything?
  4. I am inclined to think Newtonian is joking. Does he ever explain how this is supposed to bring about immortality? Or is it "just magic"? Another good excuse. Blame science and drug companies because we all want something so beneficial "suppressed". If this out there claim was really true, and drug companies knew about it, they would be selling it like crazy. Please. Was this thread meant to be a joke? Seriously.
  5. oh man, I owe you one, Phoenix, thanks.
  6. Putting cool things in cars is ok, i guess. i would never spend the money to do so, but doing so is different than some of the lame cars on that site. I like the red one that says "Sleeper" on the windshield.
  7. I really like what those guys do, I read about them a lot on James Randi's site. What channel and at what time are they on?
  8. Yeah it was cool. It turns out they (neandertals) are a side branch of our family tree, and not our ancestors (for those who didn't already suspect as much) based on very different anatomical features. They are also shorter and stockier, and more strong than we thought. I love how science is always improving. Yes, I heard about that new hominid find, but the article disappeared befor I got around to reading it. Fully erect before australopithecus and paranthropus! I can't wait to read about it. Oh yeah, anything will do, thanks a lot.
  9. This is great. i thought i was the only one who is completely sick of the import car crapola that I see. It seems that after "The Fast and the Furious" came out, every guy thought that putting altezza lights on his car and tinting the windows would make him Vin Diesel. The city near where I live has a ridiculous population of guys who own crappy little cars with cheap Auto-Zone attachments on them, driving around and racing each other with their bumblebee-sounding mufflers going. Its utterly obnoxious. I would love to submit some of my own pics to this site, with me pointing and laughing at them. utter genius.
  10. cool. On a side note, I noticed things are really happening with bioanthropology lately. An article I read about last night dscribed the complete reconstruction of a neandertal, and new insights into their anatomy. I will try and find the article, if anyone is interested.
  11. I live in upstate NY, in a state park called the Adirondacks. The winters are long, the summers short, the tourists obnoxious, and the jobs crappy. But it is so beautiful up here, with Lake George a few miles away, and a mountain range outside my window. But its cold almost all year round here. The winters are so horrendous some years. Summers would be great if not for the legions of tourists that come from downstate that turn the small town I live in into a cramped metropolis for 2 months. SO I guess there is some things to like about where I live, maybe I am tired of it and pessimistic, but I really want to move.
  12. Although I am far from surprised, this is still pretty darn scary. And you guys beat me to all the 1984 references too, dang it.
  13. you might be thinking the same thing as me. Whats the correlation that is ringing the warning bell for you?
  14. I think the program is only based upon evangelical christianity.
  15. Thats really interestin, but I'm afraid I don't know who did the study or anything. Try googling it.
  16. LOL!!! that was really funny. I like the part about alien mind transmissions.
  17. Understood.
  18. My postition is of tolerance and respect of all sorts of ideas and people. I guess my definition of political correctness differs from yours, but I am sure you stand fo the same. I agree that for the most part we are differing on semantics, and I apologize in that I was not aware. This is true. Thats what I meant about political correctness getting out of hand. I wouldn't say Bush is my nemesis, and I wouldn't say political correctness could do all those things better than evangelicals if they were so empowered. No argument there, except that now instead of political correctness I will say 'tolerance". I agree, people should be able to say whatever they want. But the fact remains that the governement if forbidden from endorsing religion. The non-religious view is actually a neutral one. I disagree with the ACLU a lot too. If by public space, however, you mean government owned space, then I would say this is wrong. OK sorry about the confusion. You are right of course. But neutrality isn't exactly absence. True, it doesn't. I could not agree any more. Well said. You are right. I think what you meant is that Timmy should think about the answer for himself. you're darn right I would. yeah, sorry about that. Sometimes that is a problem with debating.
  19. oops yeah, running mate.
  20. If the idea is testable, but still taken on faith in the light of contrary evidence, it is a pseudoscience.
  21. Just to clear something up: I am not just attacking republicans and republican programs here. I happen to be a democrat, but they are capable of being absolute jerks too. I just pick what is often the lesser of two evils. Heck it was Al Gore and his Vice president that said stuff about there being "no freedom from religion in America". Whether that was simply lip-service in order to get more votes, or he really meant it, it is scary.
  22. Thats my whole point. It seems the programs are more concerned with converting people than helping them. True.
  23. Yes, I am interested in examining this. And I don't need any more reasons to dislike bush. political correctness is not garbage. What truth are you talking about here? Ideally, yes it is a nation neutral on religion. So what is most of us Americans are Christian. That won't change our government into a thoecracy. You are confusing "secular" with "atheistic". Secularism is neutrality on religion, exempliefied by the US seperation of church and state. Atheism is simply the absence of religion. Promoting a specific point of view is pretty much what politics is all about. Yes, thats what the consititution is for, among other things, but it also says the church and state business. It is the family's business to tell their children what they want about religion. The government should have nothing to do with that. To not promote one religion over another. Secularism is not a religion. Examples?? So you think only religion agendas will teach safe sex? Prostelytizing is going door to door, or simply being in your face relentlessly preaching and trying to get you to convert. Religions can do this all they want, but I personally find it obnoxious. Where is this deception? There is nothing wrong with political correctness, it can be a little annoying when it gets out of hand, but there is nothing inherently wrong with it. I won't argue with you here.
  24. Joke all you want, if there were no Mods around, this site would be crawling with trolls.
  25. I never said I was happy about that, either. Because the united states is a secular nation, that means the government is (ideally) neutral on the subject of religion. Secularism is not a religion. There is nothing wrong with seperating the church from the government, and that is the very definition of secularism. The difference is that secularism is not a religion. The American government is supposed to be tolerant of religions, but to not actively endorse them I don't have kids, but if I did, i would want them to learn safe sex, instead of someone saying "just don't have sex, we won't cover what happens if you do". Thats potentially dangerous. Abstinence is a good idea, but not every teenager will listen. Thats why its a good idea to teach both. I don't see what this has to do with the above subjects, by the way. Do you think seperation of church and state is a bad thing?
