  1. sorry, that was a knee-jerk post, and I apologize, I didn't understand the question, or topic. I kinda thought he was joking. I don't think its ludicrous.
  2. there is a "science" of it. Stage tricks, sleight of hand and conjuring.
  3. Researching and reading about someone who claims to be psychic is not "flippantly dismissing". Go to randi.org and read the commentary. There is lots about Uri Geller there and I have read it all.
  4. Another thing: Why did you feel it necessary to come out of the woodwork, to reveal (rudely) your opinion about me? Did I do something to you in the past? Have any of my posts ever offended you? I doubt it.
  5. I said previously "there is no evidence". Thats different than saying "science disproves it".
  6. couldn't have said it better myself.
  7. along with carnivorous kangaroos, and truly gigantic lizards.
  8. mine's the Hunter-Killer Hydralisk from StarCraft. I just love that game and think they are the most useful unit to have.
  9. Just a fun question: What is everyone's avatar, and why did you select it?
  10. can I get a "I disagree" answer option please?
  11. one thing: I don't think anything like "the spirit world" has any evidence going for its existance. Sounds like this topic is right where it belongs.....
  12. I could imagine dolphins like orcas being dangerous, but not bottlenose or common dolphins, I would love to be in the water with them. Orcas kind of scare me though. Its also hard for people to anthropomorphisize sharks. They aren't mammals, they don't communicate and they known to be dangerous, eating machines. To be honest, I would rather be in the water with a dolphin than a bull shark, no matter how much I love sharks. I could understand why people wouldn't care if they all were killed off, until there was an ecological disaster. Maybe Disney movies like "A Shark's Tale" could be good for something?
  13. Thank you!!! This is what people muct keep in mind in discussions about animal intelligence.
  14. I don't really have much more to say than this is what is accepted as true.
  15. there is no such thing redundant room with brains. It takes a lot of energy to fuel a large brain, so all of it better be worth it. Remember that elephants and large whales also have large bodies, some have social structure and both have good cognitive abilities as well.
  16. my point being that our ancestors probably never found a reason to need to hold their breath that much, but we have innate reasoning skills that allowed us to figure things like that out. Holding your breath is as simple as thinking about doing it. Thinking about things is something humans have the ability to do all the time. Its not like its' some innate instinct that evolved for a special purpose.
  17. I personally reject the aquatic ape hypothesis. All of the reasons given for our supposed semi-aquatic adaptations are features we have for our former savannah habitat as in sparse hair, low body fat etc. I am sure our ancestors did go in the water at some time, but considering the dangers crocodiles and hippopotamuses pose to anything in savannah watering holes, I can't see any small primates swimming around with them. Sure we can voluntarily hold our breath, but remember that humans are smart. It doesn't take a lot of our brainpower to figure out that simpy holding your breath while diving will keep you from drowning.
  18. well, provided the comapnies are privately-owned, and have nothing to do with the government, I believe they have the right to discriminate if they desire. Doesn't make it right though.....
  19. "That guy was crazy! Why'd he bite me!?" - Truck driver from Resident Evil 2 "Napoleon, don't be jealous because I've been chatting online with babes, all day." -Kip Dynamite "Yeah right, which one of us knows illegal ninja moves from the government?" -Napoleon Dynamite "I caught you a delicious bass" -Napoleon Dynamite "No amount of belief makes something fact." -James Randi "I believe we are on an irreverable trend towards freedom and democracy-but that could change." -Danforth Quayle "There ought to be limits to freedom" -G.W. Bush
  20. Thats ludicrous.
