Well how would that work? If I had a twin and he lived on Mars, he would appear to not live as long as I, so when he died, I would still be alive, but he would not notice that he was dead?

There is no justification in telling a religious person that they are disallowed from acknowledging God just because an athiest or someone who calls God by another name is within earshot. If you read your own post, and try to view it from the perspective of a religious person, you might see that. How is it an act of reaching out to people of all faiths and all philosophies, to tell some of them that they cannot acknowledge their concept of a supreme being in a voluntary recitation of a pledge of allegience that is voluntary in the first place? I thought that schools were a place to explore ideas. A place to become aware of the great variety of differing points of view. How can those things be accomplished if one of the first things we tell our children is that the word "God" is taboo? Edited to add: Especially in a school where we talk to them about fellatio and cunnilingus.

So, if time passed slower on Earth, we would live longer than if we were transplanted to a planet that has lower gravity?

Wasn't DS9 a large cylindrical tube? It appeared to be several miles in diameter and was rotating. All of the rooms and buildings were laid out on the inside of the tube and because of the rotation, that provided the artificial gravity. If we built something like that, say 4 miles in diameter and 10 miles long, how fast would it hafta rotate to achieve 1G?

If gravity can stop time, is it proportional? If you lived on the moon, would time pass faster than here on Earth?

If it is the pledge of allegience that you object to, then again, it is a voluntary act. No student can be forced to recite it, not can a teacher be forced to lead it. To assert that a student cannot participate in something that is voluntary--absent any illegalities thereof--clearly attempts to restrict the rights of those students. It would make as much sense to restrict students from having photos taken for a yearbook on the basis that Amish children are opposed to having their pictures taken. Oh, I think that one could say "Darth Vader" in place of "under God", if he wished. Who would stop them, and under what penality? But there is nothing in that rule that specifically forbids the referrence to God in the pledge. Yes, it says that the school will not teach religion, but it is still an open question as to whether or not the "under God" language constitutes a violation of this rule. The courts will decide the issue in due process of time.....

Teeth that replace themselves as often as needed, eyes that do not quit on us 50 years before we expire, hearing that does not dull with age, and a natural ability that makes Viagra obsolete?

I am not sure what you mean by this' date=' but if you mean that that is why I could not be involved in a homosexual relationship, that is not it. Homosexuality between males is an absolute turnoff to me, either from the standpoint of an abserver,[b'] or[/b] as a participant. Now, as I said, between women, that is another story.

If the pledge were mandatory, I would agree, but since it is voluntary, it looks more to me like an infringement of freedom to exercise, or of freedom of speech. I think it a little premature to say that the government has made a decision to remove anything in this case.

I use an optical mouse on a multi colored pad with a picture of a Tasmanian devil on it. No problems.

I read something the other day to the effect that gravity was not limited by the speed of light. As I understand it, the sun has a certain gravitational effect on the Earth and if something happened to the sun to suddenly cause it to have less mass, it would affect the Earth immediately, rather that the 500 or so seconds that it takes light to get here. So, if all bodies in the big U are affected to some extent by all other bodies in the big U........then, maybe If there was some way to affect gravity and make that affect into a pattern, and if a receiver was able to interpet that pattern it would be instantanious, right?

I don't know that there is one. I was just speaking to the fact that a lot of people have little kinks that other people muight think is, well, "funny".

Actually, I am kind of turned on by it. I suppose it could be seen as somehow discriminatory, but I suppose a lot of sexual things are that way.

Not finding the intellectual responses here that pique your lust for battle? Try..........http://glocktalk.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=57 You will find that you have more than enough in the way of opposition. -
I don't know about you guys, but I don't find the idea of two females having sex together, any where near as inappropriate as two males having a sexual relationship. What does that make me? Chauvinistic?

How many of you have received 404/forbidden errors?

If that is to me, no, I am using AOL 9.0 for broadband. -
It was more of an observation pointing to what I thought was an inconsistency on the part of many people. That they see the mere mention of "God" as somehow dangerous to children, yet those same children are deemed to be quite capable of attending "diversity classes" to make them understand that some boys like boys, instead of girls. While I have no problem with teaching kids to accept differing sexual orientations, and to be tolerant of them, I think the same thing goes for accepting the fact that some people are religious and should be respected for that also. Whenever I see a double standard applied, I begin to wonder if the people who are objecting, are objecting on scientific grounds, or if it is just another prejudice rearing it's ugly head. So, to the extent that it examines the motivation of the prople who are concerned about the "G" word in school, I think it is releant--don't you?

I do not get any error messages, but often-- about once in every 5 or 6 posts, that I post-- I will get spontaniousely disconnected from the internet. This does not happen elsewhere, only on this forum, and I am subscribed to several. When I get back to where I was, the message that I tried to post is posted all right, so it must happen after the posying connection was made. I am on AOL, with a DSL service through Verizon, if that resonates with any of you who are more computer literate than I. -
To me, it is a matter of empathy for the killee. I have always been a little grateful that my mother opted to carry me to term and that so far, no one has seen fit to murder me. I am willing to treat others as I would be treated. Isn't that one of the basics of what we call "civilization"?
