  1. I think that it had lot to do with Iraq, since we declared war on terrorism and Iraq was a known supporter of terrorism. Of course there was terrorism before 9/11, but nothing on the scale of bringing down the WTC with people of all nationalities inside. Just because they were not all American nationality is no reason to ignore their loss. Nooooooo, I am suggesting that when one accepts the job as president, he is expected to lead. Which, of course, is precisely what W did. Whatever.....all I am doing is responding, mostly to you. I would be all for a hit squad taking out Saddam, but if it were that easy, we would have found him a lot sooner that we did--right? Oh, so now that you can't point to the 9/11 report as a condemnation of the Bush administration, it is useless? I don't care what you do.
  2. Terorism existed before 9/11, but 9/11 was the worst thing to date that had happened to us. Don't you think that that would require a President to take action beyond what had been taken before?
  3. No, I think it is empathy for the victums of terrorists. Tell me that had a terrorist captured your wife and buried her in the desert with enough oxygen to last her for 12 hrs, that you would not favor any method of extracting the burial site out of him.
  4. Have you read the 9/11 report?
  5. Oh, I quite agree to that. What do you have in mind?
  6. Well, there you go again. On the one hand, you criticize me for not staying on topic, while in the same post respont to the very post that you are criticizing.....
  7. Well' date=' OK. Does that mean that I am not supposed to [b']respond[/b] to queries?
  8. ?? I don't see what you are getting at here.
  9. I don't think we are at war with the Nuslim faith. I think we are at war with Islamist fanatics. The average Muslim has no more use for these terrorists than we do. That if why we are not fighting 30,000,000 people in Iraq, but only a few fanatics. The exit stratigy is that as the Iraqi government establishes itself and their army and police force is established and trained, we can withdraw and they will be able to maintain their own government--as a democracy, which is much better for the whole world. The bottom line is that terrorism thrives on ignorance and poverty. Democracy tends to reduce both of those things. Make no mistake, this is a big job that will no doubt take decades to accomplish, but it is a job worth doing because the alternative (submission to terrorist demands) is unacceptable.
  10. I said that is response to the proposal that we should remove our troops from Iraq. Not germane to the topic, perhaps, but it was responsive rather that initiative.
  11. Since the events of 9/11 initiated the war against terrorism, and since Saddam was a known supporter of terrorism, it would seem to follow that he would either have to change his ways or be removed from power. He refused to change his ways.
  12. If you are talking to me, the answer is that our troops are in Iraq to save American lives.
  13. Demouncing them comes second to saving lives. It would be a great crime of our own if we stood on principal at the cost of the lives of our citizens. We need to realize that if we insist on being the good guys while the terrorists have bo rules to follow, we do so at the expense of American lives.
  14. If the man is a terrorist, and if you know that he has information about another terrorist attack where people would be killed, then get the information out of him, whatever it takes. My preferrence would be drugs, but I would be open to any suggestion that would yeild the information. These people are human garbage, they don't deserve to be treated according to any "rules."
  15. Oh, I don't know about that. You otta come to the East end of Battle Creek some Friday night and see what some of these guys drag into the bar with them.....
  16. But if the trial takes 2 years to get started becuase the defense is not ready, and then it drags out for another year during the trial, how relevant would whatever he knows be?
  17. I kinda think so too, and in today's world, wouldn't it be possible to check out the DNA of bones known to be Neanderthal for markers that might testify to whether or not present day man has a Neanderthal heritage?
  18. I 'spose.
  19. Oooooooohhhhhhh. Thanks.
  20. Why "teraflops?" Why not terahertz? It was kilohertz, then megahertz, then gigahertz, and now teraflops?
