    Time

I know this is not very scientific, but I see time as more of a perception than a fact.
  3. Joel and no hair on my fingers. However if I didn't use my hands for walking so much, I am sure some would grow there. Edited: By the way, I am 68 years old.
  4. You think this is bad......you otta go over on glocktalk and look at some of the stuff that gets on their politics forum. Most of it requires a gas mask just to read it?
  5. Yes, that is much more compatible with other browsers...... Every time I see these pictures, I am awed by the dimensions of space. It is truely humbling to contemplate. I saw one nebula that looked like a big stump with some hair-like protrusions comming out of it and the caption said that a little dot on the end of one of those protrusions was about the size of our solar system.
  6. Take a look at these pictures. I hope everyone can access them, they came off the AOL home page. http://rl.channel.aol.com/space/hubblegallery Edited: I checked it from the Foxfire browser and it seems that you will need an AOL screen name--sorry.
  7. They can't. But neither can the drug companies.
  8. Most of the money they make is on the increase in stock prices. Their salary is usually supplanted by healthy stock options so if they run the company in such a way as to increase profits, the stock price goes up and we all make money.
  9. Actually Sandi, I would bet that it was a little before that. Maybe not though. When Reagan took office (Jan 20 '81) the interest rate on a mortgage was 18% and that was a serious setback to construction, but with the implimention of sound money policies, that rate was drastically reduced during his first term.
  10. Isn't prevention pretty much in the hands of the patient? What I mean is a healthy lifestyle is pretty hard to put into a bottle.
  11. That is correct. Like it or not, we owe a lot to GREED.
  12. I have been reading this thread and I am not sure I understand what you folks mean when you refer to "the universe." Are you talking about all the matter that was created and blasted out into "space" at the moment of the "big bang?" The galaxies, stars, nebula and such? Or are you talking about whatever there was out there before the BB?
  13. Sandi, I really think that nuclear power is in the cards for the future. Perhaps I am wrong, but as the oil reserves run dry, I think people will be less and less concerned about nuclear power plants and they can be built as needed to replace older methods of producing steam. Perhaps in some cases even be retrofit to existing plants. In any event, I don't think we have anything to be concerned about because the big shooters in the economy are not going to let things go all to Hell in a handbasket when there is money to be made. So, once again, GREED will come to the rescue.
  14. In Coventry. Actually in California the Mountain Lion attacks were of joggers and bicycle riders. I don't know what they did to be disrespectful. And I agree that it is off topic.
  15. I think they have a ways to go before they become the worlds strongest economy: China: GDP - per capita: purchasing power parity - $5,000 (2003 est.) USA: GDP - per capita: purchasing power parity - $37,800 (2003 est.)
  16. I got .2664, not bad for an old man.
