  1. I just did. Democrats don't "stack" the court. Democrats do not have their own conservative judge organizational pool as the GOP do. If you are attempting to disagree please cite the name of the liberal equivalent to the Federalist Society. The scope is different enough as to render the both sides platitude worthless. The Federalist Society is a GOP led action committee which develops judges specifically to influence abortion, gun, tax, and etc laws. Nothing like it exists on the left.
  2. So status quo then?
  3. This really isn't a both sides do it issue. Only Republicans have their own breeding stable for judges, Federalist Society. There is not a Democratic version of this. All Republican nominees are literally part of a political action committee with expressed long term goals to reshape U.S. law in their preferred world view. You can argue that Democrats choose more progressive judges all you want but Democratic nominate judge are not all members of singular organization with singular doctrine.
  4. More women (63% of all Rape victims) never come forward impart the struggle and fear of not being believed than men are ever falsely accused. Women not coming forward is a far bigger problem impacting far more people than is men being falsely accused. Many rapists victimize multiple people. It should be a national priority to identify rapists. All the arguments about how long a woman waits, due process, and etc simply encourage the status quo by virtue of being against action till a perfect solution can be found which will be fair and equal for everyone. While the goal seems good it equates to inaction for the foreseeable future. As it stands men have been raping and abusing men since the stone age. Now that some societies are finally standing up against it I find it laughably ignorant to fear for men. History speaks loud here. Men will be taken care of. Men always have been without exception. Even in this thread which references Kavanaugh the man was give a sweet lifetime appointment to the most prestigious court in the land. His life wasn't ruined. He is Rich and powerful in route to becoming even richer and even more powerful. Rather than erroring on the side of the status quo while considering best solutions we should error on the side of believing the women and exposing the most possible perpetrators while considering best solutions.
  5. Ford is not a Democratic politician. For isn't a politician period. Ford wrote to her govt representatives whom happen to be Democrats. If was Sen. Flakes, who is a Republican, that got the vote for Kavanaugh delay so that the FBI could get involved. The only us vs them which exists in the situation is in the minds of people who falsely view Ford as a Democratic saboteur. You have it backwards. The fact that black people are more likely to be jailed for the same crime than white people means society already leans toward giving white people the benefit of the doubt. In the U.S. 20% of women will be raped during their lifetime. The overwhelming majority (63% of victims) will never report. One of the factors for not reporting is fear of not being believed. 95% of the women who have made reports have done so truthfully. Discouraging tens of millions of victims in the name of defending a few men who may potentially be falsely accused simply isn't working. After millennias of women not being or feeling unable to come forward we need to create safe spaces for them to do so. Once that space exists it can be fine tuned and we can look at ensuring men aren't falsely accused. However we should not hold up the development of safe spaces for millions of victims and sacrifice the good in the name of the perfect. Sacrifice the confidence of a several million women for the comfort of a couple hundred men. 63% of rape victims don't report. The system currently favors rapist. That is inexcusable. The system should favor the victim.
  6. Studies have been done on false reporting and shown that only about 1 in 20 reports are false, Here. Only about 1 in 5 rapes are even reported, Here. A minority of victims ever come forward and an even smaller minority false report. Meanwhile 1 in 5 women are raped, not just harrashed but RAPED, Here . There is a real problem here. Far too many women are assualt and too few come forward. Less than 20% of the 20% of women who are raped come forward. 5% (above) of those are false claims so 0.2% of the total number of rape are misrepresented. Which means a enormously small percentage of men are ever falsely accused. 1 in 3 black males born in the U.S. will be arrested I during their lifetime, Here. If 1 in 3 men, or even 1 in 10,000 men, won't be accused of sex assualt. What percentage of men are convicted for Sexual Assualt? Trust but verify.
  7. Christianity was invented and it mythology is full of fiction. That isn't even up for debate. Adam and Eve weren't real, the Exodus never happened, Resurrection never happened, and so on. This discussion is about whether or not a real person inspired the story Jesus. It has already been established that the acts attributed to Jesus is the Gospels are not real. You are attempting to conflate the existence of Jesus with the existence of Christianity but it doesn't make any logical sense. Motives are not relative to this conversation. Neither of us can speak to the motives of the authors of the Gospels. You have no idea who wrote them muchless what their motives aere. Your just filling in an the unknown value with your own beliefs. The New Testament is full of fiction as is the Old. You cannot explain the motives for any of it. What you posted is your own personal belief. Your ability to imagine why someone would or would do something have no impact on what people would or wouldn't do. Imagining scenarios for why you think things may or may not have happened in the past proves nothing. In my opinion Joseph Smith's claim of golden tablets and Jesus in the Americas is stupid. Yet Mormonism is the fastest growing religion in the U.S. today. It is built on fiction. I do not know what Smith's or Brigham Young's motives were. I have no competing scenarios for why Smith would invent golden tablets, magic underwear, or etc. One doesn't need to know motive or invent competing scenarios to know that if Jesus were a real man 2,000yrs ago his absolutely didn't come to the Americas.
  8. Backfire? This question sort of assumes Ford was part of a Democratic strategy. Republicans have 51 votes in the Senate. There was never anything Democrats could do to stop Kavanaugh. Republicans could have voted Kavanaugh in weeks ago if they chose to. Your question doesn't make any sense. There could have been video of Kavanaugh assualt a woman and Republicans still could have confirmed him.
  9. Likewise for Islam. Both Christianity and Islam are abrahamic religions that grew out of Judiasm. The foundation was already in place. Nearly all religious stories and individuals are based on fiction: Poseidon, Horus, Hercules, Noah, Moses, Adam, Apollo, Zeus, Iris, and etc. If Jesus were real it would be an exception to the trend and not vice versa. Religions do not need to be rooted in anything real to proliferate. History has proven that numerous times already. How quickly Christianity grew, when, among whom, and etc is not something which I consider evidence that Jesus was real. By itself, in my opinion, it would be evidence Jesus wasn't real.
  10. The orderly distinction you reference is just your own perception. It isn't something which governs the Universe. Some people view all of time as happening at once, Eternalism .
  11. Seem the Majority of Republicans are either dismissive of the seriousness of sexual assualt or rank get what they want above any sort of moral principle.
  12. If Jesus existed he did not rise from the dead or perform miracles. So whether or not Jesus existed Christainity was perpetuated on fraud. So I silly don't follow your logic. Lying about who a real person named Jesus was and what he did is no easier or more difficult than just making making someone up. Either way fiction was applied. Do you believe Moses was a real person?
  13. I honestly do not believe Roe V. Wade is at stake. As it currently stands Republicans have lost the popular vote in 6 of the last 7 national elections. They also lose the majority of votes for Congressional races too but hold onto power in the house via gerrymandering and the Senate by dominating smaller states. In 16' Democratic Senators received 6 million more votes than Republicans Senators yet Republicans maintained control. Headlines note how divisive U.S. politics are and tend to blame politicians on both sides because it is easy but in my opinion the true reason for the current climate is that the wishes of the Majority are being ignored. People in the U.S. believe the U.S. to be a democracy and yet those with popular national support are subverted. Obama won re-election in 2012 by 5 million votes and Republicans refused to hold a vote on his SCOTUS nominee. Then Trump loses the popular by 3 million and gets to push his pick for SCOTUS though for the seat Republicans wouldn't let Obama fill. It is disgusting. Of course people are pissed off. 6 million more votes for democrats in the Senate yet Democrats are powerless in the Senate. 3 million more votes for the President yet Democrats are powerless in the White House. How that applies to Roe V Wade is that Republican control in govt while currently absolute is very tenuous. Republicans do not have the support of the nation and doing something extreme as overturning Roa V Wade would light a match which would burn their gmitck of maintaining power to the ground. Republicans can't afford to lose even a lone percentage point of their base and still win elections. Over turning Roe V. Wade would cause them to potentially lose double digit percentage points from their base. Democrats would win super majorities in Congress which would open the door to a variety of election and electoral college reforms which would devastate the Republican party. Right now people are mad enough to pace in their living rooms and and punch their car dashboards when the news comes on but that is about it. Overturning Roe V Ward would be marching in the street and tearing down the fences around the White House mad. It would be a catalyst for change that the GOP can't survive.
  14. How exactly can Democrats do that? * Also I am still waiting for a citiation on the implication that Feinstein has planted evidence on the past (a crime).
  15. Trump is the President, Kavanaugh is his SCOTUS nominee, Trump is out making a defense for Kavanaugh at rallies, and it was the White House that chose the manner in which the FBI investigation would be conducted. Discussing Trump in this situation is not off topic. Kavanaugh is Trump's pick and it is Trump's White House who prevented the FBI from interviewing Ford or Kavanaugh and is jockeying Senators for their vote on Kavanaugh right now in real time. Who is making this a political game. The GOP could have held a vote on Kavanaugh already or turned it over to the FBI for a full investigation. Democrats have no power to prevent a vote or turn this over to the FBI. The ball is totally in the GOP's court yet you continue to blame both sides equally for the process.,why? Democrats do not have the power to direct the FBI to do a full "proper investigation". Republicans would have to do that as they are the ones with the control which means Trump, who you don't feel should be involved is this discussion, would have to authorize it.
  16. I wouldn't say zero weight for all people but definitely little to no weight for those supportive or sympathetic to Trumpism, which Kavanaugh absolutely is.
  17. It a bit of corroboration with Bob Woodward book "Fear" where Woodard outlines Trump's approach to dealing with accusations from women is to "deny, deny, deny and push back"Here.Trump criticized Al Franken for "fold up like a wet rag". It is both disturbing and insightful. Trump implies that Franken was weak, a "wet rag", for not pushing back and fighting his accuser while at the same time Trump is being total indifferent to whether or not Franken was guilty. It is Al Franken's failure to deny & push back Trump is mocking and not the sexual misconduct he was guilty of. Al Franken conceding to misbehavior is what Trump sees worth criticism. Whether a person is guilty or innocent Trump seems to think a strong man, which by default in Trumpism is a good man, should fight. Such views held by men with so much power is one of the reasons women do not come forward. It is sad. In resigning Franken did what I wish all guilt parties would do and Trump is mocking him for not being petulant and re-victimizing his accuser with denials and push back.
  18. Between Republicans and Democrats only Democrats who are being accused of character assassination against Kavanaugh.
  19. There is good evidence Paul existed. His writings are known and early copies still exist today Here. It seems you are asking a larger question than whether or not Paul existed. Paul existing is not equal to everything Paul is credited of writing being true.
  20. I don't know if you ever what Trevor Noah or not but yesterday he made a great point about the way Trump uses victimhood. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LZ3P1sv9jE Republicans could have asked Ford whatever they wanted and it is the White House who has prevented the FBI from interviewing Ford. It is those defending Kavanaugh who have prevented these things you are referencing from happening and not vice versa.
  21. If she didn't take one a certain amount of people would be questioning why not. It is a damned if you do damned if you don't situation. Those who don't want to believe her can find suspicion in everything she does. Much like the her detractors primary complaint about why after so long and why now. First Statistically most victims never come forward at all and of the ones who do it is common for them to do so after a long period of time after they have been able to emotionally come to terms with it. How long she waited is normal. Secondly Kavanaugh being appointed to a very high profile position put him back in her life. Prior to him being considered for SCOTUS Ford wasn't forced to see his face or name repeatedly on a regular basis. In defending Kavanaugh's with such arguments the subtle message of speak up immediately after an assualt or forever hold their peace is being reenforced. Kavanaugh can get his due diligence without the use of such disingenuous talking points. The FBI could be given the authority to interview Kavanaugh and his accusers and run a thorough investigation. This matter doesn't need to be a bunch of anonymous people on Twitter and Facebook asking why now. Do you have a citiation for these crimes you are casually implying Feinstein has committed?
  22. Do you have any idea what the motive was for Apollo being invented? If not do you feel perhaps Apollo was real? the question you are asking is has no value to me. Many gods have been invented and I can't speak to the motive for none of them. So what? I do not know why Zeus or Iris were invented. It doesn't matter. Not knowing the motives behind inventing Poseidon doesn't lend credence to the notion Poseidon was real. I am ignoring bits because you insist on re-asking about things I have already clearly stated I do not think matter. My point was that many Gods have been invented which proves it can be done. Not only have other gods but the Christian faith is full of invented characters. If Noah, Adam, Moses, then it follows characters can be invented. In Christianity few humans have communicated with God. All those said to have like Adam, Moses, Noah, Abraham, and etc are invented figures. Jesus being real would actually buck the trend of invented ones. I have never questioned the existence of Christianity. So what is there to discuss? The existence of Christianity is not proof of Jesus anymore than the existence of the Hellenistic period is proof of Zeus.
  23. I already have in my previous post. I don't need to know why someone did something to understand they are able to do it. You are pushing a fallacy. Religious text full of inaccuracies written by authors who were not contemporary to Jesus and have never been identified. These questions absolutely do not matter on any level to me. No larger an undertaking than it was to invent Zeus, Apollo, Horus, or any other God. What of biblical figures like Moses, Adam, Noah, and etc were they all invent or were they real too. If Jesus were real, which he may have been, he is they only meaningful figure who communicated with God who wasn't invented.
