  1. I agree. However in the case of FB's filtering which laws currently even exist? Not just FB but Youtube, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and etc are nearly all totally self policed. This is an industries worth hundreds of billions of dollars. I can't think of any other industry at this level which is unregulated. It isn't a matter of different political administrations arbitrarily changing the law every 4yrs. There aren't any laws in place at all.
  2. In the UK public health officials recommend everyone, not exclusively dark skinned people, eat more foods like eggs, dairy, liver, tuna, and salmon or consider taking a vitamin D supplement during the winter. Moving out of the UK to someplace sunny isn't the recommendation. You are suggesting something which no nutritional experts have. In a post apocalyptic world where people couldn't access reliable sources of foods which contain Vitamin D or supplements there'd be graver concerns to health like a lack of vaccines, clean water, antibiotics, and etc. Things that are known to greatly impact a regions mortality rate. No one is denying that vitamin D is important. All vitamins are. People need healthy level of many different vitamins and minerals. You are describing a post apocalyptic world where humans basically go back to the neolithic era and then are asking if darker skinned people would be forced to move towards the equator for vitamin D. People only lived to be between 20-30yrs old during the neolithic era. Treatable Injuries and tooth abscesses are known to be among the main causes of death during the neolithic era. Take away modern medication and humans have a lot of different things to worry about. In your scenario I simply do not believe Vitamin D would take precedence over other needs.
  3. Guns are regulated. Not to the level I wished but they are regulated.
  4. I know. I was just pandering for a response to my post.
  5. Any country can change there laws at anytime. Laws are fluid. Doing nothing doesn't change that reality.
  6. Absolutely not.
  7. CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, Washington Post, and the other "Fake News" outlets D.T. cries about are doing just fine.
  8. The marketing Pornography, Alcohol, Tobacco, businesses are all regulated differently than hair salons and Real Estate. Different rules can and do apply for different things.
  9. The Federal Communication Committee (FCC) has never been adequately updated to regulate the internet as they do TV and Radio. Now that we have clearly passed the precipice were people receive the majority of their news and marketing information online vs TV/Radio Regulators need to evolve.
  10. It isn't a one sizes fits all. Regulators should be mindful of areas where people have been disenfranchised or which have been exploited by criminal activity and regulate according. The process should be fluid and change as needed. I think people have taken too much of an all our nothing attitude towards free enterprise and speech on the internet. More and more we are seeing crimes exploiting the lax attention paid towards regulations online. It is a problem.
  11. That's not what I posted.
  12. Paul clearly is not a reliable source. That doesn't prove Paul is making it all up but rather simply means nothing Paul says can be used to prove the existence of Jesus.
  13. This is an excellent point. I think there should be a law which forced companies to let customers know when data is being collected on them. Costumers should have the options to opt out. If the label on a product at a grocerystore says $1 than the price should be $1 and not $1 plus the potential sales value of my data. Considering how many retailers have been hack and lost their customers data (credit card info in particular) don't you think it is perhaps time for govts to interject with some better consumer protection laws?
  14. I think these types of conversations are too often filtered down singular answers centered around principle. In application nothing is absolute. Micro targeting can be a very effective way for a business to find an audience and save on advertising costs. It can be a good thing. It can also be used to discriminate against people or promote disinformation. It can be a bad thing. Both are true and both should be addressed rather than one picked over the other out of principle. Cities with larger populations and heavier traffic have more street parking rules than those with less people and traffic. Problems should be addressed where problems exist. There is not a history of people being disenfranchised by the African American salon industry. There has been a history of disenfranchisement within housing and real estate. So the same rules which apply to marketing for a Hair Salon perhaps should not apply for a housing complex. While it seems unfair to burden one industry more so than another I would point out that different standards for different industries already exists. Liqueur companies have various rules specific to their industry regarding how they can advertise. Likewise so to does the adult modeling and film industries. When I was a kid Cigarettes use to have commercials that aired throughout the day, were sold in vending machines, and some companies had animated characters. Today all that has changed. Some industries need more attention paid to them than others. Housing and real estate is especially a sensitive area because of the investment opportunity. Their is an associated return on investment related to Real Estate which doesn't exist with getting ones hair done. Micro targeting specific costumers for housing developments is almost like insider trading. There should be public announcements made and everyone should have equal knowledge to the investment opportunity. Long story short both you and your friend are right with the the perspective industries you both referenced.
  15. Even if Democrats were to win both the House and Senate in Nov. I doubt they'd act strongly against Trump out of fear of public reaction. From Franken being immediately disavowed to the continued concessions about the kind of candidate Clinton was or wasn't Democrats are very sensitive to criticism. Too sensitive to stand up to some like Trump who'd make a nuclear level skeptical of every disagreement. I actually think Democratic weakness will boost Trump's 2020 odds. Currently Trump is struggling to find someone to blame for all his lies and failings on. Blaming the media has been successful in some circles but not good as blaming Crooked Clinton was. Trump needs an enemy and a Democratic led Congress which lack the courage to impeach is the perfect punching bag for Trump to publicly denigrate and blame everything on.
  16. Selling and production would be a separate issue. In the U.S. Alcohol is legal but laws vary state by state. Some states only allow Alcohol to be sold in state ran liquor stores with limited hours and days of operation while other states allow liquor sold nearly anywhere 7 days week around the clock. Taxation varies by location and some counties within states are dry and do not allow alcohol to be sold at all. As for production that too is at the mercy of local govt. Different States, counties, and cities have there own standards and limitations for production. A selling and production conversation would be one about taxes, jurisdiction, licensing, legal definitions, and etc. It is a separate conversation.
  17. No one can. I have seen it argued that during his life Jesus wasn't viewed as important so historians and other literate people in Jewish and Roman society simply didn't bother to record his existence. Problem with that argument for me is that had Jesus been real he must of had a devoted group of followers who thought very highly of him. Otherwise why did they carry his story forward for decades after his death. Yet none of them bothered to record anything or save any of his stuff. Even Bart Ehrman who has come up a lot in this discussion argues that there is zero contemporary historical evidence for Jesus.
  18. The whole situation is very disgusting and has seriously altered the way I view both the Constitution and law. I always understood that on a certain level laqs we're arbitrary but believed somethings were concrete. Nothing is contrete. From the White House Trump repeatedly bullies (obstruction of Justice) the Attorney General, asst Attorney General, and the special counsel. He breaks the law in plain site and nothing happens. MSN takes an oppinion about how it people feel. Trump stood next to Putin and sided with him over his own intelligence community led by his own appointees and his approval rated didn't even blip. We know for a fact members of Trump's campaign knowingly met with Russian officials with the purpose of getting info, that at least one Trump advisor (Stone) had secret correspondence with Jullian Assange of WikiLeaks, all while Trump continued to claim "maybe it was China". These are matters of record. Either recorded or admitted to under oath yet Trump will still get his 2nd SCOTUS pick.
  19. I lived in San Diego for 4yrs. My favorite beach in so-cal is Newport. My wife and I would regularly drive up for the day on weekends. Highway 1 between San Clemente and Balboa Island is exceptional. That said I hate driving. In San Diego I road my bike to and from work everyday. When we'd go to Newport my wife always drove. When I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area and then later in Idaho I drove everywhere. My wife and I had 2 cars. Once I ditched driving and we dropped down to just one car I quickly realized what a chore driving is. Being on the road everyday one become conditioned to it. After breaking the cycle though it is tough to go back. In my opinion people treat driving too carelessly. It is an extremely dangerous activity. Tens of thousands of people die in accidents each year and hundreds of thousands of people are hurt. Yet most driving are numb to the threats and more interested in getting into the lane they want to be in than safety. So I only drive when I absolutely must nowadays. I walk, cycle, and use public transportation 95% of the time. What is cool about untethering ones self from a car is you get a better sense of a location. A car in climate controlled and one isn't seeing their neighbors eye to eye. I walk through my community and say hello to my neighbors and smell the fresh air. Sometimes it is humid or other times windy but it all adds to my experience. When one walks they literally can stop and smell the roses if they choose. While in San Diego I lived in East Village and I don't think there is a single street in Little Italy, Gaslamp, East Village, Golden Hill, North Park, Hillcrest, Old Town, or Mission Valley I didn't walk down.
  20. This sort of sums up you position of fake news. Anything you don't like you are calling fake. There have already been 35 indictments and 5 guilty pleas. Trump's own personal lawyer has rolled over on him and is claiming Trump new about the Russian hacks and meetings between his campaign and Russian officials. You can split hairs over which crimes were committed but to say your stilling waiting for evidence, as if none exist, is ludicrous.
  21. Trump's ongoing feud Omarosa Manigault Newman is a good example of how meaningless either a compliment or a condemnation is from Trump. Prior to their most recent public escapade Trump had fired Omarosa from his reality show a couple different times and the fall out has always been scandalous including back stabbing and name calling. Omarosa is one of Trump's favorite protagonists. He involves her in all his public ventures just so there can be drama. I will honestly be shocked if she doesn't hit the campaign trail with Trump in 2020. A million dollars back in the 70"s is closer to 7 million today but it is more than that.He also had access to his old man's lawyers, accountants, advisers, fixers, and etc. A whole successful real estate infrastructure ready to go. Millions worth of logical support and services in addition to the cash he was given.
  22. Right, I was simply providing more context on the "son of god" legend part of your post. Today some religious extremist believe we are on the precipice of a second coming and mix they radical views in with their politics but back then Religion was inseparable from cultural identity and politics. Just new political movement today change the focus of a nation so to did the rise of different religion change law and society and the way those in power choose to reflect on history and preserve it.
  23. Jesus is supposed to be the fulfillment of prophecy from the old testament. It isn't a story which begins in the era associated with Jesus but rather predates Jesus significantly. To the authors of the new testament Jesus was the messiah Judaism prophecies is coming. Christians split from Judaism specifically over their competing views about Jesus. .
  24. It is sort of ironic that the same many of the same people who argue James's title of "Brother of Jesus" literal must mean James was the biological sibling of a real human Jesus yet don't feel Jesus's title is literal. They read the Gospels al la carte.
  25. I wasn't implying the govt. Nor was I saying I agree that FB should allow the govt to have access. I was simply stating that for all we know someone or some group already can access it. No judgement associated. I wasn't implying otherwise. As stated in a previous post I their probable cause to a court and petition for such access on a case by case basis. More over FB should do their part and resist each time.
