  1. You're right, I don't think any law states that. It's just me getting caught in chemistry calculations where usually only one variable changes...

  3. Hi guys so this is the problem I want to ask. For part A I got F=mg +k (deltax), And for part B I got P=Patm+F/A (F is from part A.) So part C is where I got confused. What does it mean by here quadratic equation? In my mind if the piston is allowed to reach equilibrium, the volume of the gas would change(in this case, double) and the pressure would maintain the same. But them I saw part D part E and so on and I got threw off. I have no idea how to approach part c. Please help!
