  1. I think it really depends on what you mean by like-minded. My husband and I both have the same ideals, goals, and about 90% of our interests are exactly the same. We almost always agree on what must be done in any situation. Some would call this like-minded, and in this way we are. However, our minds work in a completely different manner, and we have different talents. He is better at math than I am, and I am better at all things artistic. We may come to the same conclusion on something, but the path we take to get there is different. He thinks ina more logical manner, and I think in a more creative manner. So when we work together, he is able to bring more logical thinking to my train of thought and I am able to bring more creativity to his. I would have to say that generally it is best for the people closest to you to be at least somewhat like minded, but that it is healthy to regularily correspond with people who are not, but only if you don't get overly worked up by conflict. It's pretty difficult to learn and grow in an environment of conflict.
  2. This is all purely speculation for fun! I'm no expert on these things, so please excuse any errors there may be in anything I say. Some theories state that Venus once had as much surface water as Earth, and that the lack of a magnetic shield allowed cosmic bombardment to eventually burn away the oceans, creating the runaway greenhouse effect that we now see in present Venus. So my question is - if ancient Venus once had a habitable atmosphere and temperature, would it have developed life forms similar to Earth, but unique? Intelligent life? Since it could have had a more earth life environment for anywhere between 200 million years to a couple billion, it seems to be a possibility. And what would it be like, if so? A single revolution of the planet takes some 224 Earth days, so there would be no day and night as we know it. It would likely be much more humid than Earth due to the oceans evaporating at a faster rate. Would there be an oxygen rich atmosphere (if so - giant bugs!)? How would the weather patterns be? Most likely storms along the line of the dark and light side, and some interesting ocean currents due to one side being warmer than the other. There would be no seasons due to a fairly nonexistent axis tilt. The sun would be much younger and dimmer - that would play into how plant life/animal life would develop as well. If there was intelligent life, how would their environment shape their culture? What would they look like to live in an environment that is similar, but also uniquely different from Earth's? Essentially I'm trying to paint a detailed picture in my head of what ancient venus may have been like. I don't know enough of the science to paint a completely accurate one - which is why I'm bringing it here to see what you all think! I can't seem to find a lot of articles out there about this, probably because there is no real way to prove what it may have been like until we can gather more data on the surface. My husband and I have been talking about this for a couple days and having fun with all the weird stuff we've been coming up with so I'd love to hear what you guys can come up with!
  3. I've found the best way to lure people into learning something new is with humor, or by putting the information into an attractive looking infographic. Think of websites like pinterest - they're so popular because people love it when things are divided up into little bites of information. You just need something to catch their attention and arouse their curiosity.
  4. 1. World unity - instill a sense into all people that working together for the greater good is more important than our petty differences 2. For us to discover a clean source of energy that is both abundant, sustainable, and very easy to obtain. 3. Wipe out all genetic abnormalities thus gifting better health to all another fun genie game can be to list some wishes and have others try to figure out how to ruin them, since genie's are tricky and love to screw you over. For example, a wish for world peace could be interpreted by the genie to remove the human race from the world - thus making the world very peaceful!
  5. Another random person joins the ranks! Hello all! Mostly came here looking for other people to discess nerdy sciency stuff with me!
