  1. The catch 22 is the necessity of recognizing the physiological differences, often statistically, on one hand, with the importance of recognizing that not only might some assumed differences be exaggerated or off the mark entirely, or might not apply at all to an individual, on the other. Many are incapable of holding opposing thoughts in their heads. They like to generalize. Generalizing can still be an important tool, as long as it doesn't lead to mental blocks. There is a lot of truth to this post of course, along with the obvious bias. I'm not sure what OP list you are referring to Phi. My statement certainly wasn't limited to it in any case.
  2. Somewhat of a catch 22. Especially where in health care where both economics and efficiency are almost always essential, even while personal stakes can be very high.
  3. Are there reasons mental health might be harder for men? Also, of course! As others have implied it's important to understand the differences while not assuming they apply to a particular individual.
  4. The square cube law applies here. Smaller objects of the same substance will have proportionately more frontal and surface area for their volume and mass, so will generally dissipate their kinetic energy relatively faster in the atmosphere prior to colliding with the Earth.
  5. I knew nothing of the particular history. My comments were general. I sometimes object to the mods but I trust them. At least they explain what they do. I do like the positive side of the system.
  6. I've never been too keen on the neg reps, especially for newcomers that have no way of knowing how the rules are going to be interpreted (if they even read them...(put up your hand if not a mod and have read them all...a quick scan notwithstanding) Some grandmothers are fine with F-bombs, while others, not just grandmothers, might be offended by the language in your second paragraph, and be a little surprised it's actually a +1. Should they not be welcome here while they adjust? The mods can weed out the bad ones without our help...beyond reporting of some of the worst posts. Just my $0.02
  7. Voted Harris. She's playing the hand Biden gave her pretty well so far IMO.
  8. That doesn't hold much hope for humanity.
  9. LOL. Could he help himself? LOL. Could he help himself?
  10. Nice to know at least 34 other sites "read" the same way as us. Is it still okay to give joe a like?
  11. I don't know much about him but I like what I'm hearing so far... ...I guess I need to tune in to Fox News so I will know what to really think...šŸ˜„ Ol white guy though...obviously a DEI pick but at least they had the sense not to announce it as that this time...
  12. I remember author Robert Ringer (libertarian individualist) paraphrasing it (not in support of it) to: "Ask not what those in power can do for you...ask what you can do for those in power"
  13. I wonder how that would go... "At least Trump does it himself and doesn't leave it to subordinates!"
  14. Cue Saturday Night Lives sequel to "I Don't Wanna' Go!" "I Don't Wanna'Go Against Harris!"
  15. Lol, just give the nomination to Niki Haley already...this is getting too easy... If you take Trump and the GOP since the last election and condense it...you've got the makings of a good Monty Python skit....
  16. A long way to go but so far so good...
  17. Seems Vance might turn out to be "too much of a good thing"? Trump may now be regretting his choice: https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-better-off-with-nikki-haley-jd-vance-bad-decision-2024-7 On one hand if Trump managed to get in I would certainly prefer Haley as VP (despite her taking a hit in my books for endorsing Trump). On the other I think Trump would be more likely to win with her on the ticket. I'd prefer he stick with Vance. Hopefully I won't regret it.
  18. You forgot to add in brackets: (unless potentially influenced by the ridiculous woke cancel culture over compensating politics we hope doesnā€™t lead to Trump winning another election) AKA How to lose votes and negatively influence people
  19. Kelly himself can go one better. He can say heā€™s met our Swansont!
  20. ā€œI refuse to take advantage of my relative youth, my sex, or my colourā€¦but campaign on my purpose, commitment to democracy, and my record working with my President Joe Biden. I believe I am the best person for the job as President of the United States of Americaā€¦especially given the alternative offered by my adversaryā€¦democracyā€™s adversary.ā€ Hopefully something along those lines ā€¦Kamala Harris circa late 2024/near future
  21. The type of voter that wonā€™t vote for her because sheā€™s a women or of colour would probably tend to vote for Trump anyway. She just needs to avoid the mistakes she made in 2020, stick to accurate accusations against Trump, get a good running mate that compliments herā€¦and sheā€™ll be fine. She is certainly more capable of defending her/Bidenā€™s administration than Biden could have, and more than capable of attacking Trumpā€¦thereā€™s certainly plenty of ammo for her to do it honestly. As I said at the time, she should have been announced as the best available running mate. Sheā€™ll need a good deflection for that and keep it about Trump. Sheā€™s by far the better alternative.
  22. Assuming Trump survived, attendees at the RNC would all show up with holes in their headsā€¦
  23. +1 INowā€¦but it doesnā€™t make me feel any betterā€¦
  24. The good news in my opinion is that itā€™s probably a poor pick in terms of Trump electability. The bad news is that it probably wonā€™t matter and if anything he might be worse than Trump with regard to Ukraine.
  25. Wellā€¦I guess thereā€™s no snowballs where heā€™s goingā€¦ Too soon?
