Corona virus general questions mega thread

Another effect may be more people utilizing online courses going forward. Much of many universities brick and mortar, and support structure for it, could become redundant. -

I was also thinking you would be more critical of the US Governments as they are, at least in theory, more responsible to you. -

Same reason you would hold Canadian Government/s to higher scrutiny than, say India? -

I don't think China, especially, or the WHO have acted well...but there certainly was enough information out there that was, tragically, ignored or overlooked. -

He's making Trump look good by comparison. They're also heading into their flu season, and of course lot's of homeless, so they could be particularly vulnerable. -
From the administration: Seriously people. Stop taking life jackets! There is no proven benefit to the passengers, who have not been trained to put them on, and if they keep taking them there won't be enough for the captain and crew. Here's how to easily make your own personal flotation device....while not an approved life jacket it may keep you afloat for an unknown period of time...

I think we are all in agreement and see why this won't happen. But I think they'd win... Both Biden and Gabbard both appeal to the centre in different ways, the DNC crowd would reluctantly get behind it and Tulsi has backed Bernie... Also Tulsi is tough as nails.

I would be on board with Gabbard, but I don't see it happening. Klobuchar would be a good fit for him, but not sure what she brings votes wise, partly for that reason.

Sorry Zap. There's a lot of pretty smart people on this forum that have proven time and again that they can think logically and base it on solid assumptions. Even in the political threads. And then they go off the rails. I'm not talking about the odd bit of hyperbole. I know it's not just here on this Forum, or even just in the States. Maybe you can explain it? Having said that...I realize we all suck when emotions get involved...at least to some extent. Some just recognize it more than others.

You can't break even. Every significant part of the process requires a net increase of entropy. (degradation of available energy) But, if you have a sufficient source of compressed air at the bottom, or heat for the balloons at the right point/s in the cycle, then you have, in principle at least, a system that can harness that available energy source. Just don't waste your money on a patent without confirming those sources are available, and ascertaining that's the best way to harvest it.

Corona virus general questions mega thread

My limited and non technical take on it: I do think more exposure over shorter time periods allow the virus to take root. I just don't (of course) know how much over how long, and I think this would vary with individuals and circumstance. An earlier low dose exposure may actually be helpful (but don't try it at home...or anywhere else!) It's not really just an accumulation from exposure, as it's replicating in the body while the immune system is fighting it off, and some parts of the body are more vulnerable than others. Every body is a different battlefield, but I think it can be quantified to some degree at some point, as more becomes known about the virus and it's effects. -

We can. Where do we start? Or just number of copies inhaled over a given time? -
I would on that part. The right, generally, rejects identity politics. (the "alt right" would be an exception...and not in a good way) Note the "quotation marks" in each case though. I consider liberals to be reasonably left, and conservatives to be reasonably right. Neither being part of "the left" or "the right".

Yes. It can be suspended in the air and you can inhale it. I'm sure it can carry further than 13 feet. The question is at what level, and what level does it take to "catch" it. My take right now is that if you follow the intent of the guidelines, you have done your part to flatten the curve. This won't guarantee you won't get it though, so if you are at risk health or age wise you should do more...up to complete isolation if you feel it's necessary. -
I would call Bill Maher "left leaning" (as opposed to "the left" as I described it) “So when someone says, ‘What if people hear Chinese Virus and blame China?’ the answer is, ‘We should blame China.’ Not Chinese-Americans, but we can’t stop telling the truth because racists get the wrong idea. There’s always going to be idiots out there who want to indulge their prejudices, but this is an emergency! Don’t we have bigger tainted fish to fry?” He continued, “Sorry Americans, we’re going to have to ask you to keep two ideas in your head at the same time: This has nothing to do with Asian-Americans and it has everything to do with China... https://sportscool.com/2020/04/11/bill-maher-blasts-pc-uproar-over-chinese-virus-label-we-should-blame-china/ I would agree with him, with the caveat that I think Trump should make more effort to make it clear that Chinese-Americans, especially, and Chinese as a people should not be blamed. (He does on occasion do that type of thing, but IMO not often enough...and when he does "the left media" tends not to report it) Because, as Maher says "there's always going to be idiots out there".
