  1. It's widely suspected that Ronald Reagan was suffering from dementia while still in office.
  2. If that was money well spent, James Clyburn's timely endorsement of Biden must be worth billions.
  3. A one day (for voting for) wonder...
  4. But how could SNL possibly spoof it? There would be nothing to write. They might as well just show highlights and we could all laugh...and cry... again. That would be interesting if they took some of Yang's ideas and toned them down a bit (could they then let Yang do the talking?) The downside of course is the mess they inherit, but that would be true for anyone.
  5. Happy Super Tuesday everybody!
  6. I said that assuming Sanders would get the plurality of votes. The way it is heading now that may not even be true, but it very well still could be and seems likely. But Biden is rolling in a way Bernie was just last week. If he ends up in the Whitehouse SC was the pivot point. (and I would think he owes James Clyburn a beer...) Whether Sanders wins the plurality could make a difference for a number of Bernie supporters, most of whom admittedly would still vote Democrat but I think it depends on how many...vs how many stay home or vote for Trump. 12% voted for Trump in 2016 IIRC (I'm recalling thinking I heard that recently). That was after Clinton won the plurality heading into the convention. How many more would have done that if Sanders had the plurality and then lost the nomination? Some of Sanders supporters are anti-establishment and many anti-DNC.
  7. Amazing what SC has done for Joe Biden. Down to 3 old white guys and a comparatively young whipper snapper female... Warren should stay in just in case the 3 of them don't survive until November...
  8. Regardless of who the middle option might be, the Bernie Bros are not going to like them. That will make it harder vs Trump if that option succeeds in getting nominated.
  9. I think Pinnochahontas can give him a run for his money on that one... ...but at least she now has money after reversing on her refusal to accept Super Pac support.
  10. Apparently, James Clyburn's endorsement of Biden just a couple days before the Primary vote was a fairly major factor in Biden's huge margin of victory: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2020/02/29/joe-biden-james-clyburn-south-carolina-icon-comeback/4912936002/ I don't think Bloomberg is going anywhere after watching the last couple debates, but who knows... Bernie could get a majority of delegates without the majority of votes, but if he falls short of that it will probably be a matter of by how much, and what tactics are used against him by the DNC et al. I don't think SC is an indication of "fear of Sanders" but there may be enough of that Tuesday to prevent him pretty much ending things at that point. Despite Biden's weak campaign so far, and not having the ads and infrastructure in place in Tuesday's States, his showing in SC and his name recognition might save him...at least to fight another day. Warren is toast. She never should have campaigned in the lane she did. That's Bernie's lane. He's already won it...it's just a matter of whether he can broaden it enough. As INow says...Tuesday will be interesting. +1 by the way MigL. Congrats on getting to 1000 points...(but any more and Warren wants to take away 2 percent a year from here on...) Speaking of the moderate lane...now Buttigieg is out: https://www.businessinsider.com/pete-buttigieg-drops-out-of-the-2020-presidential-race-2020-2 Is he making room for Bloomberg? VP Buttigieg?
  11. Not insignificant, but you have to take that with a grain of salt. Trump/GOP attacks against individual Democrat candidates are by necessity diluted over the field at this point, and Democrats running for House and Senate seats swing States, have yet to distance themselves from the policies of the eventual Democrat nominee, as they don't know who that will be. Compare with it having been open season on Trump for the last 3 + years, Trump being a very clear target.
  12. There's a huge difference between asking for a 4 year contract that will take you to being 84 years old, like Sanders would be (or 82 like Biden)...and one that would put you around 70. Warren seems pretty fit and energetic for 70. I wouldn't hold her age against her (her identity politics is another matter) That being said, Bernie seems to have recovered well from his heart attack (I wonder if it was done on a fair socialist allotment of medical care?)
  13. Happy Leap Day everyone! Now, what effect on Super Tuesday might Biden winning today in SC by double digits have? Could he spin it as making a comeback against Bernie and use it to rally enough to save his campaign? Or does Bernie have just too much momentum now to give it much effect...especially given that Biden winning SC is pretty much expected?
  14. Never claimed it was equivalent...it isn't...in fact the large nails for his "crucifixion" come from the left...the right can only hammer away with tacks because it is expected. Reasonable is attacking his economics and policies...attacking him for pointing to Castro's good intentions, where or when in fact they were, may be good politics but is less honest. Yes the right has done that. You know who else has done that? The left. Maybe they frame it more as "this is why he's unelectable", but they aren't pointing to any truth in what he's saying.
  15. By the right, left of him, and centre... Gets harder and harder to make honest factual statements these days.
  16. I think we need hockey refs to do the moderating...let them play to a point but then sticking them in a penalty box for a few minutes when they bend the rules too far. "2 minute penalty to number 4 Buttigieg...." Alternatively for entertainment value...WWE refs
  17. Thanks. It could get interesting.
  18. I think he limboed under the bar most of the last debate, after smacking his head on it early. (also Warren kept dropping the bar on him everytime he thought he was low enough)
  19. I expect Bernie will be a little more the focus of attack tonight, given his recent showing in Nevada and Bloomberg's somewhat dismal showing in the last debate. Bloomberg should of course be better prepared than he was last time.
  20. Let's not forget we have an Avro Arrow at Pearson Airport pretty much ready to go at a moments notice: https://toronto.citynews.ca/2018/08/17/avro-arrow/ (moments...months...years....let's not quibble about wording )
  21. Agree...and on it's own it's consistent with what you claim...but not when it's stated as a substantial source of revenues for the social programs Sanders is advocating. It's clearly more than just that. He sees it as money better spent on social programmes. Is that a bad thing? Whether any or all of that is true or not, I gave you my own opinion, unconstrained by whether it might align with anything Fox News might or might not come up with. Out of interest I tried google: "No results found for fox news "sizable reduction in the US military"." "No results found for fox news "sizable reduction in the military"." 4 results for fox news "sizable reduction in military"...but none were fox news links Doesn't seem to be a term they use... OK. I've noticed. I've also noticed the left misrepresenting the right. False equivalency? I don't think so. How exactly, are they doing this manipulating? Seems to me both sides are manipulating, and primarily through wording.
  22. LOL. Give your head a shake. And no where did I mention "troops". The US isn't even in the top 2 in troops. I think your "assessment" of my "rhetoric" is a little off the mark.
