I think he is actually very well informed and has good incites. Would you prefer his thoughts to be finalized but off base? Do you think that Biden, Sanders, or (LOL, can he find Kansas City on a map?) Trump are better informed on the subject circa 2020? How about Buttigieg? Warren obviously has a background on this...but while she takes a narrative, always, Yang looks to evaluate the problem. He doesn't expect or want you to fall in line, never mind berate your ideas if they don't align. I know it's a different approach...not assuming you're right about everything but still willing to submit your ideas to scrutiny and admitting pros and cons of them. I get the thought (not the reality, IMO) that he's not ready yet...that the UBI at $12,000/month is to high (IMO), and that at times he's spitballin (in an honest manner) toward solutions, but he's the best candidate, by a considerable margin, out there (obviously IMO).
-
Many of his policy proposals are simply outlining his thoughts. I think this is, or should be, a good thing in many cases, where he doesn't expect to dictate the details. I know I'm in the OP, but I didn't start this thread. (I do think he is the most capable candidate, including on this subject, in the actual POTUS role to address it) +1 for the post +2 if I could, for checking out his website

12% looks pretty strong for her at this point. Especially being a moderate just behind Biden (obviously not Nationally). She is still a dark horse, but I think this helps. Thanks. So well above 1.1% of the vote, though not significantly different from his polling numbers (there were a lot of optimistic claims that his online support was unreached by the polls) I mean Klobuchar 12% to Yang 1%...not good optics for a guy that has numbers very close Nationally.
-
That could be the death knell for Biden, South Carolina notwithstanding. Klobuchar and possibly Buttigieg is well positioned to benefit if he continues to drop. Warren should have positioned to be there for that seeming inevitability, but chose to tack and cover Bernie, who always goes left regardless of the forecast.
-
So where does the 1.1 percent come from? Neither round fits the bill. Voter turnout would be above 150,000 but below 200,000...correct?
-
Ouch. Any thoughts on why Yang would poll substantially below polling? (not why you think he doesn't deserve better)
-
Thanks INow. So is the intention to release the results from both before and after the second round?
-
How did they get to the second voting, without results from the first? Be pretty unfortunate for Pete if, say that delegate ends up voting against Pete after Biden has long dropped out...and it ends up being the difference... Of course the Republicans will have a field day with all of this...as if it couldn't have happened to them.
-
Good luck tonight. Be interesting to see if Yang outperforms his poll numbers to any degree.

CPAC2020 isn't until the end of the month. I thought Romney's head would already be on a pike by then...

New rules for the Feb 19 debate. No longer do donor numbers matter. They might have considered letting Bloomberg count himself as many times as he wanted...but that would have been too obvious. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/01/31/dnc-shifts-debate-requirements-opening-door-for-bloomberg-110017 .

That could have been true. Only two took that risk. For the rest...that's the risk they didn't take.
-
That is the risk those Rep Senators take. Ultimately nothing has changed as it will still be up to the voters...as it should be. (it would have taken some extreme revelation to change that) Any potential political damage to Trump from Bolton, or others, may be somewhat reduced now and going forward...but moves closer to the election. Seems like a defeat for Democrats but this could end up going either way.
-
+1 INow. You called it. I thought the Bolton news would compel the Senate to call witnesses.
-
As Markus alludes to...net forces must also include drag forces. You are correct of course for an assumed V=0. But it would approach terminal velocity pretty quickly...becoming net zero.
-
LOL. Apologies for not going back to read this "Theresa May Resigns" thread...but discussion of chlorinated wash for chicken was not what I expected. Not complaining...I've participated and contributed in taking threads further off topic...
-
LOL. Well put. Why don't his political opponents get this? They literally move the goalposts toward his wheelhouse when they think they are dragging them the other way.

Debt-free College (Warren's plan) - Split from: U.S. Democratic Primary
J.C.MacSwell replied to MigL's topic in Politics
The ironic thing is that the current leading Democrat, Bernie Sanders, is the one that is advocating what includes these "unrealistic circumstances". I thought that would be added to the above post. Sorry if it is off topic. Please don't open a Bernie Sanders "Truly" Debt Free College thread. -
Debt-free College (Warren's plan) - Split from: U.S. Democratic Primary

Mentioning a 200K refund certainly now seems excessive in this Warren thread. Seemed quite reasonable when it included Sanders, and your previous objection is now valid. -
You're admonishment is longer, and just as off topic.

Right. And in this particular instance of insulting the jury...there is no Republican equivalent (but give Trump time...) Presidents through history have done more than what Trump was actually impeached for as per the known facts. I realize that opinion is a minority one here. He's a piece of work. That doesn't justify overstating it, or making claims of certainty of facts without proof. Dems overstating there case undermines their case. Nothing I say changes that. Similarly, Trump's claim that the phone call was "perfect" undermines his case, at least to any reasonable person. (but note that Republicans, generally speaking, aren't repeating this absurdity) Having said that...I realize a small degree of overstating works...too bad the Dems can't stick to that and roll over Trump, rather than slip and risk getting rolled over.
-
Quite possibly, but how would we know that? If it's more than a comment we can look at opening a thread. If it's because, say, Yang doesn't wear ties that would hardly be worthwhile. https://www.yang2020.com/policies/student-loan-debt/
