  1. The pressurized container is above ambient. The pressure outside the container would be at ambient (generally speaking 14.7 at sea level. give or take)
  2. That movement requires a similar force (I think you get that) in either case, excess pressure escaping or vacuum pulling ambient pressure. The difference is that with the vacuum you are creating a pressure less than ambient in the container and over the area where the vacuum is being pulled, so the net force will be toward the vacuum in that case, where it will be net force in the opposite direction in the case of the contents escaping due to excess or above ambient pressure.
  3. “It would not be impossible to prove with sufficient repetition and a psychological understanding of the people concerned that a square is in fact a circle. They are mere words, and words can be molded until they clothe ideas and disguise.” ― Joseph Goebbels
  4. Quite possibly what occurred...and Warren "remembered" it as Bernie claiming "a women can't win", which is what she accused him of. I really don't believe she did. I think she tried to throw Bernie under the bus and stumbled under it herself. I guess time will tell.
  5. Got a little heated between Warren and Sanders after the debate. Knowing her history with the facts, I suspect Warren deliberately took something she and Sanders discussed in 2018 out of context, and Bernie refused to confirm it...but who knows? She accused him of calling her a liar after the debate and refused to shake his hand: https://www.cnn.com/2020/01/15/politics/bernie-sanders-elizabeth-warren-debate-audio/index.html https://moneymaven.io/mishtalk/economics/neverwarren-trends-to-top-spot-after-her-enormous-debate-fiasco-l3oVMWKZa0Shk-GUqDtu-g
  6. You can. But it's not an inertial frame. It is a set or continuum of inertial frames. There's some truth to this. I may have replied differently if it wasn't Janus, but I've gained a lot of respect for his posts over the years. But it isn't that uncommon for me to reply in the form of a question, even if it is just an average poster.
  7. Another of note is Tulsi. Does she count as visible minority? There's also African American Deval Patrick (I knew he was still in, but had to look the name up)
  8. This. Especially as it is Janus. But I also have not had the time to work through it, as I was also watching both the Democrat debates and a hockey game... I think this is correct.
  9. Thanks
  10. Somewhat naive question...but what stops a less than fully scrupulous military aircraft/drone/missile from squawking mode 3 as if a civil airliner, assuming they are checked mode 3?
  11. Joules? I think I need to digest this a little. I suspect I might get some incite from this as it doesn't seem quite right to me. (not that that holds any water) 1. Given that they're not in the same frame, and energy is frame dependant...why do they both measure 100 joules? 2. It's the same number of photons...at different energies. 3. Does the expansion during transit not matter?
  12. True...even if that symmetry break happened tomorrow...
  13. I do. I think he is the most genuine and balanced candidate in the race. It also helps that most of his ideas align fairly well with mine, as I've been pro UBI since the recession of the early eighties, and was in favour of Canada's VAT (our GST-Goods and Services Tax) when it was introduced to replace the hidden Manufacturers wholesale level tax that was in place back in 1991 (I was definitely in the minority on this...and subsequent governments got in promising to repeal it...but it's still here...guess what...we have to pay our bills somehow). I do think the $1,000 a month (Yang's "Freedom Dividend") is a fair bit higher than I would advocate, but in principle I think it is right, and economically workable, for reasons right across the "Right/Left" spectrum if done correctly...and I think Yang could do it. It might be tough to implement but nothing in comparison to the suggestions of Warren and Sanders. (Sanders is at least honest about his socialist approach, but seems not to understand the benefits of free enterprise and capitalism...which need to be properly harnessed for everyone's benefit...not killed) Warren has incredible energy but I find her more than a little disingenuous...apparently by recent polls others have as well...which is a shame as I think she would be a capable POTUS. I think Biden's platform is solid except I don't think he is up to the task. I hope he picks a good VP if he wins the nomination. I didn't like Butigieg's comments blaming Trump for the Iranians shooting down of Ukraine Flight 752, but I think he is capable and his platform reasonable. Same for Klobuchar, who I think won the last debate. I probably like Tulsi Gabbard second to Yang. She is another rare one that is willing to address people right across the political spectrum and avoid the identity politics. (which was the downfall of Booker...and with Harris...Harris also struggling with honesty)
  14. What are the chances the regime change, after all the bloodshed you mention, results in any better government and freedom for their country? I guess we can hope.
  15. Looks like Booker is out: https://www.cnn.com/2020/01/13/politics/cory-booker-ends-presidential-race/index.html He might be my pick for A. Yang's VP though...
  16. Was just "rubbing it in" as per request... My next door neighbour in Niagara Falls, 1970/71, worked for Cyanamid.
  17. Ontario schooling?
  18. She was about to spike into the lead...
  19. i think they might have set the missiles to automatically shoot down any incoming missiles and the system didn't know the difference between the plane and missiles.
  20. I suspect this was the case. I'm not sure it matters to me whether it was mechanical failure or accidentally shot down by Iranian defences (the most likely intent). Some may blame Trump if the latter is the case. I won't. I'm hearing at least 5 from our area and of course that is upsetting even with just minor details I've heard on 3 of them.
  21. What kind of kind did you think it was that Zap referred to? I assumed it was a military strike equivalent to last nights missiles. I agreed with his hope Trump would not respond in kind. You, for some reason, didn't think Trump could be that stupid. Why would you say that? It seems what Zap hoped for is happening...at least for now: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-51039520 Some of the students killed in the crash are students at our local universities in Halifax.
  22. Trump isn't stupid enough to not respond in kind? Somehow you have quoted Zap and attributed the second part to me...???
  23. I hope you are right, what you hope for happens. Trump does seem to be more affected by casualties...and having taken out Soleimani and being generally unpredictable...who knows, maybe he can revert to economic pressure tactics for now. Sad about the plane crash. I hope it was a mechanical failure as originally suggested, and not related to some military error.
  24. Trump gotta Trump...
  25. The argument, which if true is a solid one, is that doing so would put their intelligence sources at risk, and expose their methods of collecting it.
