  1. There are a lot of misconceptions about the First Council of Nicea. Isn't that one of them?
  2. What do you think of ISIS?
  3. synthetic biology - a science which marries disciplines such as biotechnology, molecular biology and evolutionary biology. Synthetic biology offers hope with incurables http://www.nzherald.co.nz/health/news/article.cfm?c_id=204&objectid=11367827 That sounds really exciting. I could imagine huge fortunes could be made from exploring this technology.
  4. Who's intention was that?
  5. Where is the proof of that? How come you had to forgive some the day before if that was the case?
  6. No one said it was easy!
  7. Interesting idea. Would that mean we never set out do deal with our enemies for they were forgiven the day before?
  8. Today the father being under attention would ask for a DNA test to prove that he really was the paternal parent. I'm sure Joseph would have asked for the same in the case of Mary had it been available.
  9. Fair enough. Jesus needed food to live as we do. As you say God made (created) Jesus, so God could make (create) you a Christ too. They say all things are possible to God, so you can't say that is impossible. Once you become a Christ you could give life too. I know it sounds impossible but the logic is there. It is the difficulty of doing this, not that anything is too hard, but it is your cooperation that is needed too. We aren't programmable robots. I don't think Jesus was either. I'm sure he had to learn like we do. You make it sound like Jesus was a programmed robot doing exactly as he was programmed to do.
  10. What is "pure energy"? A infrared photon is like "heat" and heat is energy. Photons come close to being like "pure energy" having both energy and momentum. I know what he is meaning but was it the right word?
  11. From my days of doing programming logic a statement like "This statement is False" would be a circular reference or something like that. The word "This" would be referring to a prior If statement. IF (test) is FALSE THEN "This statement is false." ELSE "This statement is true." END IF
  12. The way I look at it is, if The Ten Commandments say "Thou shalt not commit adultery" that rule applies to gods as well. With Mary betrothed to Joseph he was the only lawful father of Jesus To be the Messiah he had to be a male from the male lineage of King David which has to come via Joseph (for he was of the House of David). The virgin birth thing is just a matter of circumstance, coincidence and rare events. There are lots of ways that that could be arranged.
  13. Poetry 10 out of 10. Truth zero.
  14. The point I made was that because brothers are in the same family if one has a 75% chance of being true the reverse relationship must be true. If you are my brother, I am your brother. Wouldn't they have the same potential? You then brought up Lazarus on the basis that it was unlikely, but I tried to show you since there is a town and a tomb named after him, have you looked into the reasons for that? Surely there would be reasons for doing this. The prejudice has nothing to do with the discussion. OK I have listened to Mel Tari describing his experience of raising the dead in the revival in the 60's in Timor, so whatever happened there it could have been similar for Jesus and Lazarus. Now that is all on YouTube as well today so you all can hear about it.
  15. Would the logic of that reason fit the set of criterion? I find an argument like that truly prejudiced. I am quite offended really.
  16. I was quite surprised by this. I am going to treat anything you say as suspect from now on.
  17. What I said was still correct, whether or not I was present at the resurrections described by Mel Tari. I know it is hard to believe, I struggle with it. Who says the criterion are set correctly? Lazarus' Tomb The place of Lazarus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al-Eizariya
  18. I had a feeling a town was named after him as well. Is Lazarus not mentioned in any Jewish records? How can we trust a criteria that measures "how well it fits the Christian agenda". And as we examined above there is inconclusive evidence whether miracles don't occur. If I hadn't met a person who raised people from the dead I probably would be sceptical too.
  19. No "reserves" like in a sports team with players on the bench ready at a moments notice. With epigenetics there are genes ready to be switched on when needed.
  20. He won't bite the hand that feeds him. I like what you are doing here. I haven't understood it yet, but it looks interesting.
  21. Has climate changed, so with the shortening of the growing season, flowering plants are assisted by insect pollinators who have also evolved ways of surviving over winter.
  22. figure out how trees lift water. I have found roots of trees that have been dead for years that still seemed to be filled with water
  23. What is the water going to be used for?
  24. Could anyone become a son of God? Could you become a son of God? Could you become the Christ? IMO there is no reason in my mind why someone who is the son of Joseph and Mary could not become both the Christ and the Son of God. They are titles bestowed on a person, nothing to do with parentage.
