Thanks Yahya. I have never spoken to a muslim before, but I have often wondered how we would differ. In my theory Jesus and John were twin brothers, so do you think Muslims could accept a teaching like that? When you say you "see Jesus as a unique creation of God like an angel in the shape of a human" it sounds like your view of Jesus goes a bit beyond "Jesus as an ordinary human" unless you see all humans as a unique creation of God. How can you say the two things about the same person?

How does a divine Christ differ from Jesus just a man? He got tired and hungry and needed sleep like the rest of us.

Just as an aside but it could be important to know for the discussion, I prefer to think of it the other way around, the air moves and pushes the Earth with it. It is hard to visualize but I do believe that the total mass of atmosphere is super rotating the Earth, but only very marginally, not as severe as on Venus or Jupiter. When you make a jump, something I have not done (Yet!) the plane would be moving with respect to the wind, so it really makes no difference to the parachute jump other than the speed that you'll connect to the ground with. In a strong wind you'll hit the ground moving sideways as well as dropping. So I'd try and land into the wind and deflate the canopy asap.

That is super interesting, for you seem to be saying the same method results in all of you (3) having a similar experience, what they commonly call an out of body experience (OBE). I must go back and see if that fits in with sleep paralysis. Has anyone called what you get as an OBE? For that Demos Shakarian guy ( talked about him earlier) had a type of OBE where he traveled around the Earth looking at the people, and that has been one of the driving forces behind his mission, even though they never make a lot of noise about it, for it seems an incredible thing to do, The early Christians also had OBE experiences where they transported their consciousness to even places like Heaven etc. Have you ever tried to go further away from your physical body, i.e instead of going back going on? They have done studies on this too. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/science-news/3351798/What-really-happens-in-out-of-body-experiences.html http://fgbmfamerica.org/overview.html

Plate tectonics relation to Earthquakes.
Robittybob1 replied to Dr. Funkenstein's topic in Earth Science
Fair enough, but when you look at the physics of a rotating Earth with the Inner Core always displaced 60 km toward the Moon or the Moon and the Sun (combined) I was able to demonstrate with a simple experiment how the Inner Core ends up rotating faster than the whole Earth and the Outer Core moves slower than the whole Earth (the bulk of the mass being in the Mantle and the Lithosphere). From the motions of the masses and liquids it was possible to see why the Earth's magnetic field is established, but I could not see the mechanism why there would be pole reversals, so the concept still had faults. From the motions of the masses and liquids it would be possible to see how heat is generated, for the work done in the core is at the expense of the earth's angular momentum, with the early Earth spinning considerably faster than it is today. We will have to wait till Funkenstein responds then. -
He cursed a tree simply because it didn't have fruit on it (out of season) and he drove a herd of pigs over a cliff. He overturned the tables of the money lenders and made whips and used them. OK maybe a charge of drunk and disorderly could be laid. I'll try and answer the the other questions later.

Doesn't your quote support their view. It says "leave it to the wrath of God". Once Jesus was arrested he is hardly in the position to organise any revenge.

Plate tectonics relation to Earthquakes.
Robittybob1 replied to Dr. Funkenstein's topic in Earth Science
That T link was some sort of error in the quote function. But recent studies I have completed would indicate that there could be heating of the core. The reason I say heating is that there is work being done on the core by the gravitational attraction of the Moon and the Sun and it causes the Inner Core to be offset by up to 60 km from center. i found out about that in this study "Earth Inner Core Periodic Motion due to Pressure Difference Induced by Tidal Acceleration"http://arxiv.org/abs/1302.3960 This continual stirring of the Outer Core must logically result in some form of frictional heating. -
So is the whole of the Koran spoken to Mohammed by the angel Gabriel or is this version of what happened to Jesus just Mohammed's own thoughts? It sounds like you are saying that it was Judas Iscariot who took the place of Jesus on the cross? For he is the one who is blamed for betraying him.

Plate tectonics relation to Earthquakes.
Robittybob1 replied to Dr. Funkenstein's topic in Earth Science
Thanks for checking that but what is going through my mind is not so much the temperature increase but the since the distance to the Sun is less the strength of the gravitational forces will be greater then too, probably by the same proportion (6.9%) being a factor of 1/(r^2). Now I haven't actually run the figures but it should be in the same proportion to incident light logically. The Moon too would be having larger fluctuations in orbital distances so there would be more stresses in the Earth's crust during the 3 months either side of the perihelion and coinciding with full moons. We had a person in NZ predicting earthquakes and when I studied it there was a 1-2% increase in the frequency of earthquakes at the times of the full moon (+/- a couple of days). Since then I read that there was no difference in the frequency, so I'm unsure now. I'll just leave you with those thoughts for I want to spend time on another issue. -
What did you teach them in order to cope with sleep paralysis? My stance was I was going to see if I can prove who wrote Gospel of John, but I have had a day in the garden pulling weeds, so it has been out of my mind today.

Children with nightmares is certainly a problem for parents. That is not good. Sorry to hear it, it brings back memories of raising my kids. Every night at 10:30 -11:00 one of the three would have horrendous nightmares.

Plate tectonics relation to Earthquakes.
Robittybob1 replied to Dr. Funkenstein's topic in Earth Science
From memory since the Earth takes an elliptical orbit the Sun is closer to the Earth when the Southern Hemisphere is in summer. It might be worth checking this out. -
Well what is the explanation then, were the numbers answers or were the symbols your subconscious brain offering your conscious brain clues? I don't think it would have ruined your life. "Sleep paralysis"? I did read about that but I will have to refresh (from Wikipedia). i like that bit about "preventing the sleeper from acting out his dreams". My friend tells me I awoke her and I was dreaming but I had my hands around her throat strangling her and I was saying "let me go".

Plate tectonics relation to Earthquakes.
Robittybob1 replied to Dr. Funkenstein's topic in Earth Science
Forgive me then, for I understood "OP" to mean Opening Post so I looked at the first post and the words metallic core were not there, but now I'm told it was in post #4. Does OP mean thread starter to you? Don't think for a minute I'm in agreement with Funkenstein. I've only been here a couple of weeks and I hadn't come across that thread yet. At a glance it seems too technical for me. -
That is a bit rough! So you have no unusual sightings in your long life. Yes and I'd say most people don't get medication simply because of that unless you are referring to something that happened to yourself.

Good grief - you sound like my mother! The OP was not referring to the metallic core either. Which other thread are you referring to? The heating of the crust during summer was what the OP means. -
Firstly thanks. Reading that I wonder if we don't all have personal stories like this, where we have seen something but have no explanation for it.
-
Well I'm still looking into the authorship of the Gospel of John. It is certainly different. Was the wrong guy given the glory? That is the question that goes through my head. It is bad enough with brothers let alone with twin brothers and who should get the birthright and inheritance. How do you plan to tell me the other story? "I have a better story by someone else" Thanks. Well was Jesus real to you? Is it true that Jesus was not crucified? Tell me how you see it please?

Plate tectonics relation to Earthquakes.
Robittybob1 replied to Dr. Funkenstein's topic in Earth Science
Well that is good to know we are on the same page. So the real problem is Mr. Furkenstein. I had a lack of sleep problem yesterday, I'll see if I can get it right today. Sorry about that confusion. I'll have to remember Acme is OK! Yet it is you who uses the word "core" in the sentence "While there is greater land mass in the Northern hemisphere this has nothing to do with the temperature of the core". OK, maybe you don't mean the Inner or Outer Core of the Earth just the substance of the Lithosphere. -
Plate tectonics relation to Earthquakes.
Robittybob1 replied to Dr. Funkenstein's topic in Earth Science
Earthquakes aren't occurring in the core so what do you mean? They are occurring in the top 200 km of crust the Lithosphere. If the Southern Hemisphere has a greater proportion of crustal plates there might be more Earthquakes in the Southern Hemisphere. I doubt if the small difference in air temperature will have any effect on the occurrence of earthquakes. -
Are you Coptic Christian? I think there are varieties of Christians and even though we are all Christians we don't really understand each other, especially in the theology side of things. Like can you understand me?
-
Or knew in the case of the Gospel of John. I am certain it was written or dictated to a scribe by John in his later years. What evidence do you have that John is/is not written by St. John?
-
Sorry I'm a bit lost in you reasoning now. What is the assertion at this stage. Forget the vision (treat that just as a thought), are the research findings still just an assertion?
-
Yes true, it wasn't like the side of the wall had text on it, it definitely was within my head and I realise I can't show it to anyone or to show it to someone else, was it was like a dream, but it was of a different nature to my normal dreams. But I then set out to see if there was historical evidence to support it, and I gradually found there was a legend about Jesus having a twin brother, but no one had ever decisively pointed out who was Jesus' twin brother. To me it is absolute proof of why John looks after Mary upon Jesus' death for that was their custom, the eldest was expected to look after the parents in their old age, but in return they received a bigger portion of the inheritance. Do you accept there was an apostle called John? Do you believe he looked after Jesus' mother? But you don't accept that Jesus was real!
