How to insert a formula into the text of the topic?
Robittybob1 replied to IgOVa's topic in Suggestions, Comments and Support
I was meaning can you search for posts that have used laTex to display formulas, for it is more complicated than it displays so what would you type into the search box? You notice when you quote a post with laTex. Then it reveals its true complexity, hence it is not that great as a search term IMO. -

So does your computer have excel, for then when we do the calculations if we both use it we will have similar looking equations. -

Can you search for laTex? It is better to have words/characters that can be searched for in titles. -

OK and what do you do your calculations on? Like I tend to use Excel formulated worksheets for each problem. That way I can vary the magnitude of one variable at a time and drag the formulas down and graph the results and that way I can get a feel what the equation is doing. Then repeat that for the other variables. With the DDE and P-R effect we should be able to see how each operates at the same time. Do you do that? -
Are there Universal Laws? Can you break them?

Anti-gravity technology maybe possible in the future. What changes to the laws would we have to make to account for this futuristic idea? Personally if humans did it we would make antigravity a separate case and account for it. It would not change the existing laws IMO. -

I looked into it and Wikipedia has a list of variables but not really in a form that one would be able to copy and paste onto a spreadsheet. I was thinking of trying to simplify accessing these variables so I thought someone might have list like that already. With enough searching maybe one would find the right thing on Google. It is a time and effort thing. As you may see I have made the suggestion of having an application with many of the physic formulas already presented ready to calculate issues. I sure a type of macro would handle this sort of problem. Just asking. -

when you say there was a time before we knew about negative numbers we must have known about subtraction. Even Neanderthals would have known if you see 4 bison and kill one you have 3 left. Is that -1 a negative number? So isn't 3 - 3 = 0 a solution (3 minus 3 = zero. the minus 3 is that a negative number? I doubt if the Neanderthals would think of this: If they kill 5 bison when there obviously only 4. Deep in the cave that night Big Chief asks: "How come you killed 5 bison when there was only 4?" Hunter replies: "No problem that's because there is negative 1 bison left out there". -

I have read that there is deuterium fusion during the T Tauri stage as well. I'll get references later, as I'm just re-reading the thread to see if there are gaps in the discussion. Lithium but nothing about deuterium. But this was a very important post. Thanks Pavelcherepan. Appreciated 5500 degrees Kelvin bigger hence higher luminosity, and spinning faster so the DDE is "stronger??? The simplicity still makes a lot of sense. Thanks. -
What I would like is to have access to a totally formulated physics application. Imagine if you want to know the answer to something you type in the word of what you want to find and selection of formulas show up and you choose which one you intend to use. Then it goes through the quantities you need to operate that chosen formula - type them into the appropriate fields and when enough information has been given the formula calculates the answer and along side the answer is the expression written in LaTex that can be cut and paste into a forum discussion. Dream to good to be true? Can anyone see what improvements should be designed into the application? A type of cooperative venture?

Having that list of words along with the best symbol to use would be great. Because then it could at least be listed alphabetically. This is bound to be in Wikipedia but if anyone has it please could they share it. -

did you type all of that or use a LaTex editor? -

An axiom is a proposition regarded as self-evidently true without proof. The word "axiom" is a slightly archaic synonym for postulate. Compare conjecture or hypothesis, both of which connote apparently true but not self-evident statements. Is it because the triangle inequality is not self evident? Look at that; there is another level of description "a conjecture". What is that? Merriams dictionary defines Conjecture (archaic definition not included). -

As in Darwinian or Neo-Darwinian evolution rather than just technological development. Is that what you mean? -

It will be more likely an evolutionary process rather than technology. -

I have read all the posts in this thread AFAIK. A list of laws etc I remember thinking there was nothing I could say in response to that. That was something I was going to look up "triangle inequality". I wasn't sure what that was about. What is the key point to your understanding of the triangle inequality? seems logical you could even say "Triangle Inequality Theorem. The sum of the length of the two shorter sides of a triangle is greater than the length of the longest side." It seemed pointless adding the short side to the longest side on the vain hope it will be more than the other shorter side. What happens when all 3 sides are of equal length Rob? Decision process would be stuck in a loop trying to decide which two of the three sides to add together. -

If we want to detect them we have to match theirs. Can we pick up radio on the TV. So the receiver has to match the signal. Unless they have a way of setting up BHs to merge they won't be doing it through gravitational waves. Distributing quantum entangled particles; could they be a possible method? -

Robittybob1 replied to Scotty99's topic in Speculations
No it is a fact, not an absurdity. It will only travel at the speed of light at best and the signal will get less as it progresses. That BH merger announced the other day was only just able to pick up the last 0.3 seconds of an event that was in motion for billions of years. Signal strengths have to be so strong to get across the cosmos. True. -

That will be fine just let me know when you are available. Does this site have a way of selecting the proper symbols for variables? We'd need something like that. How do you get the Greek letters etc when discussing variables? -

So we have another category as well that of principle. Google definition "Principle a fundamental, primary, or general law or truth from which others are derived: the principles of modern physics. 3. a fundamental doctrine or tenet; a distinctive ruling opinion: the principles of the Stoics". Does that fit the meaning as in Fermat's Principle? -

Those other signs of life would have had to find us. If they are older they would need to find us rather than we find them. Some think this has happened.
