  1. What is your timeline that you are working to? When do you think life started in relation to the age of the Earth?

What I was wanting from you is your understanding of the words "the solid mantle is upwelling at an average rate of ,25mmyr" does that imply to you a global Earth expansion (i.e as a result of a thermal expansion period affecting the entire Earth's mantle or just some local effect at some specific locations, e.g a specific caldera?
  3. It might have been old but it seems so wrong I thought I'd better comment then and there as I work my way through the thread. Upwelling of the Mantle and the increase in the radius of the Earth are entirely different measurements.

Based on the work we did recently this variation in the Earth's radius seems too excessive if you are talking about a fraction of a degree change in internal temperature change. 3000 degree alters the volume of the Earth by 0.15% so the radius change is a cube root of that change. If my calculations are correct the Earth's radius will only change by 11 meters for every 1 degree change in internal temperature.

  8. This is particularly not true in the case of horses. About 8 days after giving birth to a foal a mare returns to heat and will mate with a stallion. The foal is most upset with what is going on and sees it all. I know this for it happen on my farmlet within the last month. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxX1J7CHEN8 as another example.
  9. When I looked at the videos, particularly the first one, I thought I saw him blowing onto it. Yet when I rechecked it I didn't see the same. Was that bit edited out or was I mistaken? That is why I would like to see it being done with a mask. Then we are just left with the heat of the hands.

  11. As you say it is a lot of work. Now that you mention phase changes, the Outer Core has a considerable volume and is currently liquid. I'll have to stop thinking of the Mantle as a liquid. Wikipedia on the Mantle says "The mantle is solid but acts like a very viscous liquid over geological time".   12. You were asking originally about cooling so the movement is contraction rather than expansion of the terrestrial part. I have not read the thread from the beginning to really understand your question sorry. Any thought of volume expansion would obviously come from the heating of the Earth's interior.
  13. Eldad you were talking of wearing a mask. That would eliminate breath as a source of the energy. Did you try the face mask?

So what is the temperature change? But let's say it cooled by 3000 degrees does that equate to just 0.15% change in volume (if I have done it right) and the Earth's volume is quite enormous.
  20. Well that is different than what you told me earlier when you said it wasn't a thought process! Do you move your hands as well?
  21. That would be the end result after billions of years if the Earth does not get swallowed by the expanding Sun. All tectonic plate movement would have stopped and I'm assuming you are referring to a time when the entire Earth is at room temperature. It is virtually impossible to ever imagine this ever happening as there will always (well for many more billions of years) be some radioactivity in the Earth keeping it warm.

  24. in Google search I didn't find an explanation for "destructive evaporation", but I did know of the term "pyrolysis". Pyrolysis is a thermochemical decomposition of organic material at elevated temperatures in the absence of oxygen (or any halogen). It involves the simultaneous change of chemical composition and physical phase, and is irreversible. The word is coined from the Greek-derived elements pyro "fire" and lysis "separating".

I can see there could well be a single equation that enables you to draw the animation, but what I notice and you allude to is that the piston paths are different, and that seems to be due to the main conrod bearings not being in identical positions with respect to the piston they are attached to. In the animation there are no forces of friction or inertial forces to overcome. I think if you factor these into the animation you will see that the forces transmitted through the conrods is not the same in all positions.
