Just to repeat (for you may not have seen my late edit) the Jews had rules about what they were allowed to eat but these rules don't seem to affect Christians so we don't care whether we are eating a bat or a bird.
-
Is this part of the Christian teaching in the first place? I wasn't aware Christians claimed bats were birds. What was the background to that, do you recall? PS: The Jews had rules about what they were allowed to eat but these rules don't seem to affect Christians so we don't care whether we are eating a bat or a bird.

What were examples of tests applied that you know of? Years ago I was looking to see if tests could be applied, but life has become busy along other lines of late.

Could there be exceptions to the general situations?

But to send any sort of message across intergalactic distances it seems to be about the right strength. Scary to think there is the potential for that to be done though. How far away would the "ETs" need to be when the blasts occur? I would think they would at least need to be hidden behind a star IMO.

What is the scientific term for this "thin blue line"? -
It is a shame Phillip hasn't come back and explained what happened exactly.

start with something simple like that lab equipment. You might just have to give it a go.

If the container holding the wood is sealed and only can vent via tube submerged in the water I think there will be an exit of smoke, but there won't be flame or fire as such in the chamber.
-
Could you just blow the smoke over water? It would be hard to imagine a thermal strong enough to blow through a submerged pipe.
-
How much air can that sort of pump shift? It looks to me that the pressure is going to depend on the efficiency of the air inlet pump, for the fire will cause pressure to develop in all directions so the pump has to drive the smoke through the water. If you were burning sawdust to have a smoldering fire over the entire surface would seem to require a strong flow of air, for air will be rising up through the whole volume of fuel material not just to the part that is smoldering.

The Moon would have decelerated and crashed into the Earth by now if the Earth was turning in the opposite direction. Without the Moon life on Earth would be different.

I'm sure you are wrong about that. In fact the Earth is slowly drifting away from the Sun as the Sun loses mass through energy generation.

What would happen if the Earth's rotation was highly increased?

The climate would be more even throughout the Earth. -

I still have no idea what they are talking about yet. Shame they didn't attach some photos on their paper. http://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/0708/0708.4067.pdf -

In the case of a plane is the ball lightning inside the plane or outside of it? -

Operator error? Military base North of Wellington went on UFO alert for they too picked it up on radar. This is not generally reported but a person working there subsequently told us this years ago. Experienced pilot and TV journalist and camera crew plus civilian all affected by the same operator error, seems unlikely. Only "chink in the evidence" that I need to work on is that someone (I think it was Fogarty) uses UFOs in the plural yet on film there is only ever one light. Apophenia - the camera footage is there for everyone to see. It is not some sort of image based on a pattern, and hence it is not Apophenia. Your idea that ball lighting could be caused by radar is new to me. The position that the plane was seen is actually a long way from any ground based radar stations. So are you asserting plane based radar can cause ball lightning. Can you find some reference to that or just tell me please how do you know this? I think I have kept my posts to the level to say that the UFO in the Kaikoura incident seemed to display intelligence but I have not said that there were any space aliens involved. -

How many of these are picked up by radar? Reflections NO Ball lightning NO Distant lights (stars, planets, the moon) NO Mass delusions NO Secret military craft - this is in NZ. There are no secret military craft in this neck of the woods. -

You "could come up with several mundane explanations ..." that is what I'd like to see. See what you could come up with to explain how the radar showed the UFO matched the plane's speed for 20-30 miles. What could do that? Another plane? I'll leave it up you since you say you could. -

Well how do you explain the light staying at the same speed as the plane for 20-30 miles? -

The picture of dolphins travelling alongside a boat is a well known event. They are able to do this irrespective of the speed of the various boats. How can they do this? They have intellect. So I use the same observation to suggest these lights have intelligence (or controlled by intelligence) of some sort since it matched the speed of the plane for a considerable period of time, wasn't it "20 -30 miles"? -
Seeding a planet with life
Robittybob1 replied to Mr Monkeybat's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
It could be a process that take billions of years to alter a planet. Any organism is going to need more than just water to multiply even if the energy part is provided via photosynthesis. -
The Lubbock Lights (1951) and what I saw (1960's) were in a formation. Having a formation would suggest intelligence long before anyone sees an ET alien. Even if you thought they were just a flock of high flying geese, geese are living and some intelligence but obviously not ET. The Kaikoura Lights kept up with the Argosy freight plane. That suggests intelligence to me also, in order to match the same speed of the plane. OK no ET was filmed. So where is the control of the lights coming from? If we are going to master interstellar travel we are going to have to make significant advances in science. Even at the speed of light it will be too slow. OK the traveller may not experience much time but what about the ones supporting the trip?
