  1. Sorry Phil, I put a lot of thought into very few words and has been grossly misunderstood perhaps drawing that neg response. All I meant to say is if people love each other they are not fuzzy about small and petty instances and react negatively but accommodate such incidents easily for the sake of love [which they may not do to others] This attitude will be enriching the relationship. That is as simple as I can state. Small instances can not rock the boat and no sense of insult / ego hurt arises.
  2. Some years back excessive use of the mouse [that is my surmise] started affecting my handwriting and it was not steady at all. I avoided use of mouse and now I use a Wireless Keyboard [K400 by Logitech I think] from 2013 and it is much better. What is the best input device ergonomic and Healthy ?
  3. Over the years I have noticed that a characteristic of True love between people is to exhibit the following behaviour ! If someone has TRUE LOVE for someone else he/she allows that Person to take oneself for granted. Call it for granted or take advantage of or ignore etc it is one and the same. It engenders empathy tolerance and indulgence or closeness and avoids friction over it. Everyone does not allow this privilege to all and sundry unless it is one's own nature and he/she can love the entire nature. Can not extend that to any Tom, .... , or Harry OR Pam, ...., or Mary for that matter ! Of course if the one loved so abuses this privilege by over indulgence TRUE LOVE will be under attack ! It is a good Policy to GIVE and NOT TAKE in this regard !
  4. Perhaps we absolutely need LIGHT too ! Without which our Perception and Observation takes a hit. And it will be like Food without Salt ! Just to think on our toes we need Light !
  5. Oh, No problem Michel Nice to get your inputs. Yes, one needs a lot of spare time to indulge in such pastime ! Regards and best wishes Thomas
  6. Michel I am not sure about that and I have not yet concluded about who wins for sure. Why don't you start the first move for Game 2
  7. imatfaal Nice try. Is that the solution ?
  8. TAR, Yes you are right. Anyway it was a good attempt by you and you have now worked it out that this is a losing position for the one who has to move. Actually any number of players can try it out and the game can be marked as ABC vs XYZ etc to identify. In case you do have time you can try by making the starting move yourself for the next game. Best Regards Thomas
  9. tar : No problem, go on. You'll need a few games before beating me. By then you'll get the hang of it ! Her's my move :
  10. tar, My next move :
  11. That's a good point Klaynos : +1 for you >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I posted this as a response to this Topic and that too got lodged below >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Then, Also we need TIME ! Because we take time for everything. Doing any work or using any of our other needs. TIME can not be stored or banked like other resources but has to be Spent ! We get it at the Most Democratic Steady and Equal rate and no one can get it or spend it slower or faster than anyone else ! Those who try and spend it slower tend to become Philosophers and those who try and spend it faster become Prophets or soothsayers ! We need Time Even to Think coming to think of that ! Other needs if supplied in abundance can cause havoc like Freedom - Anarchy , Air - Storm , Water - Tsunami, Food - Obesity , Shelter - Isolation but any amount of TIME is Welcome ! Will I get Enough ? Yes that is the need for Communication, Sharing and Expression of Feelings which are part of FREEDOM I suppose !
  12. Hi Tar, How are you. Thanks for the move. It always calls for courage to compete , be it war, game or any competition ! For that alone you deserve a special Praise and therefore +1 to you. You have made a competitive move and you did have a chance to either make a winning move or a giving away move and therefore my first move was not very great. I give below my next move :
  13. Sorry, Yes there are 16 sticks to start with ! Not 15 Thanks. +1
  14. Yes, if any additional needs more than the basic needs are met it leads to higher standards of living which is the 'higher living' quoted.
  15. Well if Additional Needs are met with Living becoming more interesting purposeful and thereby meaningful which is the Level in which most of us live. We all do have more than what is needed for bare existence [shelter includes clothing too] and that is a great way of living.
  16. You are right Freedom is not a Must for Just sustaining Life. But most of us prefer not to live without Freedom and therefore can be regarded as a Basic Need [on popular demand perhaps] Further we need to be Alive, Conscious , Healthy , with Senses and Faculties and Protected from Disasters/External Damages etc which all come in the Next Level towards Meaningful / Higher Living ! We Need our Planet too and our needs can be as big as that too !
  17. Yes Food too has an expanded usage but whatever suffices comes into the Basic Need Category. The stripped down version of Basic Needs calls for Optimal Usage of Resources and austerity. Freedom is the only non-material need which means many things for many and nothing for the non-creative !
  18. Well Basic needs have to be put into effective use to have a Good Quality of Life. Say Freedom needs to be used correctly which can solve many other needs. Shelter can also mean supporting many needs.
  19. The expert Programmers here like Sensei, fiveworlds , Janus etc can improve on the online implementation of this. For example if we replace the sticks with balloons and on a click they burst and vanish. Is that possible ? I think that is quite possible. But to retain that new state / status of the game for everyone to see after refreshing the pages may be a challenge. Unless Science Forum Programmers get involved to set up the necessary PHP pages and link it to the post perhaps that can not be done. Is there any way within the available provisions / special BBCodes etc for the Poster to achieve this ? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> To illustrate further the game let me make a first move : Remove 3 sticks from Row 4 which leaves the board as : What is my opponent's response ?
  20. You are absolutely right ! All other needs do have a place ! You are very right ! I agree with what you say !
  21. Yes I agree and that is for Good Living and not Just Living ! +1 Phil, the Basic needs enable you to work .... further ...and excel etc but none of those are Basic Needs I suppose. +1
  22. There are 15 Sticks laid out as per the following diagram : This game is played between two Players. Each Player picks some sticks on his/her turn and he/she must pick up at least one stick on his/her turn. Whichever Player picks the LAST STICK loses the game. That means the Aim of the Game is to force the Opponent to pick the Last Stick. A Player can pick up any number of sticks from any ONE ROW at a Turn. That means if I start the game I can pick up either 1 stick from Row 1 OR 1 , 2 or 3 sticks from Row 2 OR 1,2,3,4 or 5 sticks from Row 3 OR 1,2,3,4,5,6 or 7 sticks from Row 4 on the first turn. My opponent can similarly pick up any number of sticks from any one row at his turn from the remaining sticks and remaining rows. At a turn a Player can not pick sticks from more than one row at the same turn but is restricted to pick as many sticks as available from any one row from the available rows containing sticks. If the game is played a few times it will become clear. If someone wants to start the game he/she says : I remove so many sticks from row number .. which is a valid first move. For example you can say : I remove 3 sticks from Row 4 etc Then I will tell how many sticks I remove from which row and redraw the diagram for the left over sticks. Let's see how long it takes before I start losing to someone !
  23. That's all our Basic needs ! What else do we need ? All other Additional Needs we can live without I suppose !
  24. The following was suggested : On the step 2 : And then return to the center point [if the length of the word is even sized (is required to be so-if odd Reject)] while doing that write that into the tape3 and clear those letters from tape2. Add here : At each backward step move tape1 two letters back for each letter and at the mid point tape1 would reach its starting point. In any case as you are allowing comparison of the two half strings which needs some external memory/computation you can use that feature to count the number of letters in the first step too.
  25. You need to traverse the entire word [tape1] from left to right and keep copying into tape2 And then return to the center point [if the length of the word is even sized (is required to be so-if odd Reject)] while doing that write that into the tape3 and clear those letters from tape2. After reaching the halfway mark compare tape2 with tape3 and if that equals Accept else Reject.
