I get DE = [ AC2 - AB2 ] / 2 x BC as a General Solution and therefore [42 - 32 ] /2 x5 = 7/10 = 0.7 in this case [the same result found by imatfaal !

There is a formula to find the nth Palindrome of Natural Numbers say to the Base 10. But that nth Palindrome need not be divisible by n. If we can leave out all the Prime Palindromes occurring in between and find the nth Palindrome which is a composite number and see whether that number is divisible by n & if not find a composite prime which has n as a factor !

The Hawker has a Simple Balance which he uses to weigh his merchandise to sell to his Customers.. But he has only one Measure of Weight which weighs 40 Pounds ! He needed Units of weight with which he can measure out 1, 2, 3 etc upto 40 Lbs in one weighing ! Of Course he can put a weight or pieces of weight in one Pan while the other Pan can contain the merchandise and weights if needed. If he can CUT THE WEIGHT into 40 equal parts each weighing 1 Lb he can weigh out upto 40 pounds in one weighing but then it will be a laborious process. He asked me to cut the 40 Lbs weight into minimum number weights with which he can handle 1,2,3,4,5 etc upto 40 Lbs in one weighing ! How many pieces I had to cut the 40 Lbs weight into and what are the weights of each Piece and how can he weigh out 1,2,3 etc upto 40 Pounds of merchandise in one weighing using those Pieces of Weight ?

The elegant Solution was possible as the difference between the divisor and the remainder is constant and in this case 2 A friend of mine who solved it first after I created this puzzle and posted it in a few groups used this elegant method after noting the constant difference.

Well done Imatfaal +1 for you ! What is 22678 composed of ? I reached the solution 2518 in the following way. 2520 being the LCM of [3,4,5,6,7,8 & 9] 2520 will be divided by 3,4,5,6 etc without remainder. 2520-2 = 2518 will be divided by each number with the remainder of 3-2, 4-2, 5-2, 6-2 etc leaving the remainder 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.

It can be found in both ways. Not a guess work but a logical and progressive calculation. Also there is a straight forward mathematical derivation too ! Goodluck.

Good try. It works upto division by 7 but not for 8 & 9. You are on the right track. This is a very simple Puzzle which I had half a mind to edit and pull off. I will continue to work and create a tougher puzzle !

No one has any Right to abuse or use harsh words against anyone bcoz no one comes to this site and participates to go back with hurtful feelings. Throughout my Life I have tried to believe in GOD and Science ! When I say GOD I mean the All Powerful Almighty Super Power. If we believe in such a Possibility that GOD is the Cause and Enabler of Everything where 'Everything' stands for the Entire Universe. By 'Science' I refer to the Logical and Provable Methods & Understanding of the Entire Universe and all Laws and Rules and Events. Such being the Enormity of GOD we Humans who are mere Mortals have NO RIGHT TO SPECULATE , CREATE or PONTIFICATE about our Individual or Collective Understanding of GOD or any Religion invoking Beliefs about Past, Current or Future Events or Occurrences ! MAN can not Create GOD but GOD has caused Creation of MAN and the Universe. This must be accepted before we proceed further or else there is no Possibility of Existence of a GOD - at least the kind I have alluded to above ! Therefore it is SAD & FRIVOLOUS for Humanity to Fight over GOD and Religions ! We must seek to find and understand the Religion which is created by GOD and perhaps Science is the ONLY PATH TOWARDS GOD !
