A diatomic molecule contains two atoms, A Homonuclear diatomic molecule contains two atoms of the same kind (Cl2, F2 O2, ect) A Heteronuclear diatomic molecule contains two atoms of different kinds (HCL, NO, MgO, ect) ~Scott

Divide and conquer, You say you have a meeting with all your teachers, Play them off against each other. I know most of my teachers don't get along and i would find it hard to believe all of your teachers get along. As soon as you have one on your side it will be easyer more will follow. Remember every teacher thinks their subject is the most important use this. ~Scott

I don't realy know what part of the of the convo to quote but this is refering to the discussion on weather pedophilies should be alowed to have children. This has been refering to whether pedophiles will be more likely to abuse their children over homosexual or hetrosexual parents. Someone already posted a statistic saying it was equal (can't remember who). What i would be very worried about is letting a pedophile adopt a child. It appears to me that some of the pedophiles on this site value a mentoring/father relationship with boys that will hopefully turn into a sexual relationship. Or in another case (I think it was ezikiel) would not rule out having a sex with a child if the oppertunity came up and the feelings were reciprocated. With these two issues i would be against letting a pedophile adopt a child because it is a mntoring/fathering relationship there is no blood relation and because they would live in the same house (possibley alone) the oppertunity to molest a child without being caught would be heightened, not to mention the possibility of mistaking the childs feeling for their father for something else. Taking this into acount not only would i not want pedophiles to have children of their own but also not to adopt. I dont know how this would be screened though because how would you tell if it is a pedophile adopting or a normal person. just my 2c ~Scott

Invasions of privacy how so? The DNA database would not be able to available to police or the public only to meidcal operators who are inputing DNA samples. I never said nobody would have a problem with this system but i still believe it is a fairer system then discriminating against men. If a homebirth is in question when the child is registered a DNA sample would be taken. I understand that this system would only apply if the child was registered at birth but so would coral rhedd's system. ~Scott

I think your refering to the LD50 this is the dose when 50% of the subjects died. It is usually measured in grams or milligrams depending on the subsatnce yes even water has an LD50. ~Scot

Yeah well thats a bit extreem isn't it. I have realy noticed that i'm eating more these last copuple of weeks. I find instead of somking after eating i'm eating after eating get my drift...Wanna know how to curb your appitite... start smoking Seriously though i think everyone eats to replace smoking when they quit the only way not to is replace the cigs with something other then food, what that is, is up to you. ~Scott

I know how hard it can be i'm 17 and have been smoking for two years this is my third attempt to kick it. I've so far gone two weeks with only two smokes. As far as tips go I went cold turkey and so far so good I tried the patches the first time but they were sh!t. The hardest bit is walking past the shops and not going in to buy more but if you can get past that then it makes the whole day easyer, good luck. ~Scott

For a chemical reaction to occur first activation energy must be past, by raising the temperature more particals will achieve activation energy and thus create more products. You are correct in both your assumptions heres an example HCl(aq) + Fe if you were to heat this up the reaction would take place faster as you suggested (particle movement). But once you raise the temperature beyond a certain point the product will decompose so the reaction won't take place because the system is too energetic to supoort the products. So in a practical sense heating up system will increase the rate of reaction due to both activation energy and particle movement, but once you get past a certain point the energy will be too great to support the reaction. ~Scott

I would sugest parental DNA testing upon birth if the DNA does not match the said father it goes into a database when a man applies for the scholarship his dna is compared to the database of children indeterminate fathers if one pops up well bad luck. Yes this system is more costly and complex but it is fair I am not suggesting that the governmen tell people to go and have children at a young age but rather extend help to those disadvantaged by having a child. Not to give extras to people who are more or less on a level playing field by not having a child. I get hat you would prefer to stop people getting pregnant in the first place but i think a fairer system would be to extend scholarships to people who are disadvantaged over people who have managed not to get pregnant. I'm sorry if i sounded a bit harsh when replying to your second point in the previous post but it just seemed like you weren't giving credit to many young fathers who deserve it. ~Scott

Alright i was bored so i had a stab at the reaction for ethanol and sodium hypochlorite is this right. CH3CH2OH + NaOCl = CHCL3 + NaCH3COO + (H2O or H2) I dont know much about organic chem but its just a guess (I know its not balanced). ~Scott

adaware is totally useless etrust and xoftspy are both good i had an ad/spy/mal-ware problem a while ago after a few scans with etrust i got no more problems. I've tried all that registry stuff as well sometimes it just dosn't work no mater how much stuff you take out. ~Scott

I know you said some people will say this is a sexist idea but it is! Firstly your rewarding women for being responsible and not getting pregnant, why not reward men for practising safe sex and give them free scholarships as well they are being equally responsible. Also your rewarding the people who aren't getting prgnant these people already have a headstart over others who got pregnant and can't do anything. Why wouldn't you spend the extra money on funding young mothers to go to college on scholarships seeing as they are more economicly disadvantaged by having to take care of a child. As for the second point, many young fathers who put in effort to help support children have to drop out of school and get jobs in order to do so and will find it equally hard to go to college. Just because they probably won't spend as much time with the child raising them dosn't mean they are not making equal sacrifices. ~Scott

Dont bother with adaware it sucks. I use etrust pestpatrol works well but xoftspy is good also why can't it delete the files? ~Scott

This is from wiki "Chloroform was first produced independently and simultaneously in 1831 by Justus von Liebig and the French chemist Eugene Soubeiran, who produced chloroform through the action of chlorine bleach powder (calcium hypochlorite) upon acetone (2-propanone) or ethanol (an application of the generic process known as the haloform reaction)." So yeah your right it can be produced that way. ~Scott

Ok dibasic is when two hydrogens are removed right now that makes sense. However OCOO- is still wrong. Carbonic acid H2CO3 will leave OCOO2- bonding with the metal sodium in this case to form Na2CO3 Not NaCO3 which OCOO- suggests. ~Scott

Great link! I stand corected ~Scott

Alright i think i follow the reactions now but '2Na+ -OOCOO- +2CHCl3' still bothers me specifically -OOCOO-. What are the final products of the reaction. ~Scott
-
I'd like to think i understood all of that but i will admit that i had a problem with some of the notation. But most of all what the hell is 'OOCOO-' does that even exist? I would realy like to get this do you think you could explain it a bit easyer, like what are all the letter notations is M methyl, R alkyl group maybe im just guessing. Thanks. ~Scott

I am not suggesting that fish feel pain in exactly the same way as us emotionally ect. What would you say the 'behaviour' is then if not to aleviate the pain. This was a pretty convincing doco but after some searches on the limbic brain i can see what your saying are you sure no fish have a limbic system (i couldn't find much info on that). There is still alot we don't know about the brain perhaps other ares process emotion in animals that we are not aware of. ~Scott
