  1. People that believe in theistic evolution/progressive creation believe God(=Ghost)) plays a role in evolution. I gave several links to prove this. Why do you people deny this?
  2. ok but I said how people believe in progressive creationism/theistic evolution and deny abiogenesis....I gave several links to prove it. How is this not evidence'?
  3. I don't move goalposts. You people have a lot of knowledge but your emotions get very fast the better of you. My image is 'destroyed' on this site because you people very often react on things I didn't say. This is the worst when talking about religion.
  4. Why do I get negrep for this?
  5. People that believe in theistic evolution or progressive creationism believe ghosts play a role in evolution.
  6. With ghosts, you do mean God/Jesus & co? This Wikipedia is related and very interesting. Although biological evolution has been vocally opposed by some religious groups, many other groups accept the scientific position, sometimes with additions to allow for theological considerations. The positions of such groups are described by terms including "theistic evolution", "theistic evolutionism" or "evolutionary creation". Many religious organizations accept evolutionary theory, though their related theological interpretations vary. Additionally, individuals or movements within such organizations may not accept evolution, and stances on evolution may have adapted (or evolved) throughout history. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acceptance_of_evolution_by_religious_groups https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theistic_evolution https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_creationism
  7. I can look up the numbers if you want. Many believe in a form of progressive creationism and believe that God created life, so they deny abiogenesis. The story of Jesus also doesn't fit with what science says. The story of Jesus is for them part of human history which is part of the evolution theory.
  8. Because they think those ghosts play a role in evolution. Evolution is ghostfree. Most of them acknowledge 'evolution' but they don't acknowledge all science related to evolution.
  9. The term cult refers to a social group defined by its religious, spiritual, or philosophical beliefs,..Don't you agree with this? How is a cult not a kind of religion?
  10. That's a very normal state of affairs. Science constantly tries to solve the things which are 'not understood'. The scientific knowledge grows all the time. There are atm many 'theories' concerning space and time., future will tell which are correct and which are not. The incorrect ones will disappear out the world of science and the correct ones may form new scientific theories. This is imo the beauty of science. It a self sustaining process…..so science remains scientific. But this thread is about Space.. The Holographic basically states our 3D world (incl space)arises from 2D information. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holographic_principle https://phys.org/news/2017-01-reveals-substantial-evidence-holographic-universe.html It might look like a wild idea of a crazy scientist but it's not. A quote of Sherlock Holms explains how you should interpret the holographic principle and how it was formed. "Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth." Hiroshi Ooguri 's quantumgravity model(space time is built by entanglement) leans on the holographic principle. https://www.ipmu.jp/en/node/2174 Leonard Susskind created a model where he shows entanglement hooks space together.https://youtu.be/lH-3bFqtJjg These models fit with the theory that states the Big Bang model implies a high degree of entanglement.(everything is entangled)https://arxiv.org/abs/1205.1584 this concerns Holographic Entanglement Entropy.https://arxiv.org/pdf/1609.01287.pdf What do you think of this? It seems a matter of time before there is scientific evidence for the holographic principle.
  11. What does it matter????????????????????? Gee! 'scientists use 'time' all the time (pun intended) , while at the same time they have no clue what it actually is! And you really think it doesn't matter? Ah well..... Science is full of things we have no clue what it really is. Why do we have to know what time is, to use it?
  12. What does it matter we can't explain what time is? Logic dictates we will be able in the future.
  13. A cult is a religion. What's the difference according to you?
  14. The only difference between a cult and a religion is the amount of real estate they own. — Frank Zappa
  15. Why do you limit evolution to the Earth? 'evolution' is just a word that implies how stuff changes over time.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemical_evolution This is what mr. Wikipedia says about the big bang: "The Big Bang theory is the prevailing cosmological model for the universe from the earliest known periods through its subsequent large-scale evolution" Same question, why do you limit evolution to Earth? Many of them acknowledge 'evolution' but they don't think it's a scientific theory.. They think god made evolution possible. Many deny abiogenesis (including all related science) and believe in progressive creationism. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_creationism Liar. Many of them believe all science related to abiogenesis is wrong and don't think abiogenesis happened, many believe in progressive creationism and don't think nature can cause the variation of species. The term 'natural selection' looses it's meaning since they think God does the selection. Many don't think evolution theory is scientific. They acknowledge observable evolution and mainstream geological and cosmological estimates for the age of the Earth but that doesn't mean they acknowledge the scientific value of the evolution theory.
  16. Religion was imo necessary. It provided company/formed groups and gave people spiritual guiding. "Richard Sosis and Candace Alcorta have reviewed several of the prominent theories for the of religion. Many are "social solidarity theories", which view religion as having evolved to enhance cooperation and cohesion within groups. Group membership in turn provides benefits which can enhance an individual's chances for survival and reproduction. These benefits range from coordination advantages to the facilitation of costly behavior rules."https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolutionary_psychology_of_religion I think that's an important reason. 'having company' is necessary for many forms of evolutionary succes. This imo also shows that the properties that can form religion are not limited to humans.
  17. I learned the Kermode bear is a rare subspecies of the American black bear living in the Central and North Coast regions of British Columbia, Canada. Most Kermode bears are black but there are about 100-500 white individuals. So they are white Black bears...often called spirit bears. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kermode_bear
  18. A giraffe has a long neck but it's not a heavy animal. They are only 1000kg on average, Argentinosaurus was one of the biggest sauropods they found and he was estimated at 80.000 kg.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentinosaurus#Size
  19. How did dinosaurs get so big? especially the sauropods... Can it be related to a high % CO2 in the atmosphere? -CO2 causes plants to grow bigger...this implies more food for dinosaurs which enables size-growth.
  20. This is not real evidence but it's very interesting, and related. -High-quality genome sequences for some of the great apes have been assembled using state-of-the-art sequencing tools. The assemblies provide an unbiased comparison between humans and their closest evolutionary relatives. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-018-05679-9
  21. Hurricanes are catastrophically destructive. Beyond their toll on human life and livelihoods, hurricanes have tremendous and often long-lasting effects on ecological systems. Despite many examples of mass mortality events following hurricane, hurricane-induced natural selection has not previously been demonstrated. Immediately after we finished a survey of Anolis scriptus—a common, small-bodied lizard found throughout the Turks and Caicos archipelago—our study populations were battered by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Shortly thereafter, we revisited the populations to determine whether morphological traits related to clinging capacity had shifted in the intervening six weeks and found that populations of surviving lizards differed in body size, relative limb length and toepad size from those present before the storm.https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-018-0352-3 This is survival of the fittest lizards….
  22. There is a lot more then the videos I link. They use mostly mathematical logic and cosmology-related misconceptions to pretend the existence of god is scientific fact. https://youtu.be/hlmI1_xIRs0 https://youtu.be/_Be4l2OS1_ghttps://youtu.be/J8bxxqytndg https://youtu.be/JaCfz6JWGrA https://youtu.be/Er9D00DXQQs In the evolution theory there is no room for anything supernatural. Every catechist believes in supernatural stuff so it's impossible for them to believe in the entire evolution theory. I don't mean the evolution theory, I mean the evolution that started at the Big Bang. Indoctrination is a strong tool...I suppose. It reminds me of Kurt Wise. " even if all the evidence in the universe flatly contradicted Scripture, and even if he had reached the point of admitting this to himself, he would still take his stand on Scripture and deny the evidence" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurt_Wise#Views_and_criticism In the world of science there is no room for supernatural belief. Science is in a sense about not knowing what you don't know. Christians fill in (imaginary) gaps with imaginary science. A lot of the so called evidence for god's existence just shows there are gaps in science. A scientist let such a gap open but Christians tend to fill those gaps with super natural stuff. For example: Many Christians think biological evolution can't form this complexity,(they create a gap) so they say God guided evolution.,While they don't really deny the evolution theory, they change it. The same for the big bang model.

    about veganism

Animal agriculture has also a big effect on Global Warming. I'm wondering if this "achieve an equitable global standard of living our diets " is ever possible.
