The essence of being human is imo trying to survive.
-
Which senses? Without sensory nervous system the person would die at birth...probably sooner.
-
Which cells? And where do you get that info from? I have a neuromuscular disease, such a pill could save my life. There are imo to many problems to reach immortality...we have evolved to die. There is already a way to cut and paste in DNA (CRISPR cas9). I contacted one of the developers and she basically answered CRISPR Cas9 technology has a lot of potential but it has to evolve a lot to make it safe and effective. Informative website concerning this subject: https://innovativegenomics.org/ Many organisms have regenerative abilities. If we can find the cause in the DNA for the regenerative abilities and are able to copy/paste this info in human DNA then we are a step closer to immortality. A problem is that you can't just insert info in human DNA and expect it to do what it did in the original organism. In order to create immortality then you need imo to make new DNA with the correct properties. An immortal human is imo impossible but perhaps we can create immortal creatures.

How do you call Clint Eastwood when he's disorientated? Clint Westwood.
-
Do you sport? It's a way to give a different focus for your mind and you make more endogenous anti oxidants to deal with exercise induced oxidative stress.
-
Ok but only the correct anti oxidants in the right amount have an noteworthy effect. You might want to have a look in nrf2-activators. Resveratrol is also proven to be able to help depression. Resveratrol is present in many berries and in red wine.
-
Why do you think that?
-
Depression is known to be related to oxidative stress: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22681168 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4596519/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3964745/ "Oxidative stress is an imbalance between cellular production of reactive oxygen species and the counteracting antioxidant mechanisms. The brain with its high oxygen consumption and a lipid-rich environment is considered highly susceptible to oxidative stress or redox imbalances. Therefore, the fact that oxidative stress is implicated in several mental disorders including depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, is not surprising. " "Oxidative phosphorylation takes place in the mitochondria and is a major source of ATP in aerobic organisms. As a by-product, it produces free radicals, including reactive oxygen species [ROS], reactive nitrogen species [RNS], carbon-centered and sulfur-centered radicals [7]. Free radicals are atoms or groups of atoms with an unpaired number of electrons, which are highly reactive substances that can result in chain reactions, with each step forming a free radical [8]." There is a lot damage caused by oxidative stress/free radicals...chemotherapy does most of its damage via free radicals, peripheral neuropathy in Diabetes is caused by oxidative stress, many symptoms from elderly are caused by oxidative stress... These papers concern the use of anti oxidant activity to treat depression. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3573577/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23832433 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18611150

What happens to consciousness?
Itoero replied to Brandon.ramirez615's topic in Anatomy, Physiology and Neuroscience
Your consciousness never really sleeps. When you are sleeping many factors can cause your consciousness to wake your body. -if you have to pee -a crying baby -shouting -pain -changing temperature -if your body is enough rested ... When you sleep, it's only your body that really sleeps (to recharge). Your brain (and nervous system) becomes less sensitive for external stimuli. It alo seems that women wake up faster because of a crying baby then men. -
This is imo the most sensual audition on BGT. I've watched and listened several times My Funny Valentine

Isn't it glucose and fructose that form sucrose?

Can plants get "fat"?
Itoero replied to Elite Engineer's topic in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Tubers are used to survive winter or a period with not much food. It's a bit like animals that gain as much weight as possible before the winter. To much food (over fertilizing), especially Nitrogen can cause an excess growth. It's very interesting I think, you can for example 'debunk' an excess of nitrogen by adding an excess of Potassium. Nitrogen is necessary to form chlorophyl and it seems that potassium plays a role in transporting Chlorophyl. -
I was watching Top 10 Monty Python Movie Moments

We are pretty lucky Jesus was nailed to a cross. If they 'killed' him by drowning, people would hang a little aquarium instead of a cross.

That's probably more important then my tomatoes On Wednesday and Thursday night it should be 0°C but during the day it's ok. https://www.meteo.be/meteo/view/nl/65656-Weer.html?image=15daysmaxtemp&ext=.png L-B-L was driven in the snow at 1980! Hinault won and only 21 cyclists reached the finish.
-
I am very angry. I have planted several tomato plants in the greenhouse and it might freeze 2 nights in a row in a few days.

Today I learned the bar-headed goose migrates over the Himalaya!

There are of course hunters that hunt to preserve nature but most hunters hunt for the fun. Most hunting is imo an out of control hobby of humans. In many forests in Belgium there are big areas with no trees and a loot of grass and shrubs and often a high hunting chair/platform. Deer are often found in such area's...so hunters can easily kill them. Those area's also allow more deer to live in the forest...so there are enough deer to shoot down. In British Columbia it's allowed to hunt with a drone.

Does Almighy God view all people in the same light?
Itoero replied to Alan McDougall's topic in Religion
True. But is that linked to secularty? I think education has a big role in this. When I travelled in Canada and Alaska I noted how important people find it to get your driver license asap. In Alberta you can get a learner's Permit at 14 years old.... Someone ones asked me, "Don't you have a truck?" When I was in Alaska they never asked for my identity card but my driver license.... -
Elements are universal. That's the fun thing. Many people build scale models (own design) with bought parts or bought lego sets. I've never build meccano. Lego is in plastic, that makes it more user friendly I think. And lego is very diverse. You have Lego Technic, city, train, creator, architecture... There are people that build huge cities from Lego. I also built the Eiffel tower in lego It's amazing what they can build.

Yes, #83 Use your head. The possibility of being in fear and being content are innate but being content or being in fear are not innate...don't you understand this? The only certainty (except for the properties of your body at the time of your birth) when you are born, is that you will die. I'm not going to look for evidence for something that obvious. -
Today I learned that a bowhead whale swims in front of our coast.

That's the one I'm rebuilding! I'm often amazed of the detail that goes in the design. The Porsche looks amazing but that's to expensive imo.
