Canada': read the source more carefully. The script isn't doing exactly what it first looks like it's doing.

Cheers -- i've never seen it written like that. ==================== If you can't make out what dttom did: 1st, he worked out how many mols were present, by dividing the weight of the substance by the weight-per-mol* of that substance. Then he worked out the limiting reagent: theres less mols of NaOH than of H2S, and so not all of the H2S will be reacted ('cos there isn't enough NaOH for it to react with), so NaOH is the limiting reagent. That means that all 0.046mols of NaOH will be reacted; as two mols of NaOH react with one mol of H2S, this means that only 0.023mols of H2S will react. dttom then noted, from the equasion, that each mol of H2S will yield a mol of Na2S; hence the reaction will yield 0.023mols Na2S. You then simply convert mols of Na2S into grams of Na2S by timesing the number of mols (0.023) by the weight-per-mol* of Na2S. ----------- *look it up in a book, or look up the weight-per-atom of the constituent elements and add them up, eg Na2S = 2*(weght-per-atom of sodium)+(weight-per-atom of sulphur).

I doubt that the mods would mind if you used the 'report bad post' button to flag your accidental double-post for deletion. [edit]Oh ok, just noticed that you can't report your own posts. hmm... maybe a delete button with a time-out of about 30 seconds would be useful for double/accidental/stupid posts [/edit]

Hydorlysis == hydro (water) lysis (to cut) == a chemical reaction involving water that splits a molecule into two. H3C-CHH-CHH-CH3 + H2O --> H3C-CHHH + HOCHH-CH3 "as respiratory substrate to release energy for metabolism" : In this context, substrate means a molecule acted upon by an enzyme... so, respiratory enzymes will do stuff to carbohydrates to get their energy.

In addition, the free version of ad-aware doesn't come with active protection, whereas spybot does, which is another reason to install spybot aswell as adaware. ---------- This is quite a good free (online) scanner, that i usually use instead of ad-aware (although its still in beta) http://www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan/

a potential attacker would also be a potential legitimate visitor... maybe they think the popup is politer than just not answring? And if it's only being dos'd a little bit, delivering the redirect/popups would probably be a lot less strain than delivering the web pages. although that's entirely speculation/guesswork on my part.

the server that the site is stored on, however, could be configered to redirect any access attempts to 127.0.0.1 and display a javascript popup thingy if it thinks that it is being DoS'd.

I bet it would be a pain in the buttox to code, but could vB be set up so that, in any edits made after x hours, anything that gets deleted gets replaced with strike throughs, and any added text gets displayed in a different colour, like this: "biology is the study of atoms living stuff" last edited today by dak. reason: corrected mistake

I;d have said that B, C and E were incorect. Bacteria are the most abundant living things, also the first living things, and animals dont live, for example, in volcanoes.

There are already people who have developed immunity to HIV (via the same delta-9 mutation that gave immunity to the black death), and there are allready strains of HIV that have developed a way to get around the delta-9 mutation (ie, people who are immune to most HIV can still catch certain strains of HIV). hmm... maybe we'd endosymbiosicate HIV? i.e., we'd both evolve so that HIV actually became a beneficial part of humans, maybe swapping immune-genes between people whenever they have sex (like bacterial plasmids). probably not tho... but tbh, in a race HIV would 'out-evolve' us easily, so i dont think that developing a resistance will ever rid humans of HIV.

Those of you who can't get the link to work, try viewing the page and typing javascript:usb() directly into the browsers address bar, that might work.

How do you keep geting haxdoor, herme3? FYI: Theres been a fix developed since you last got it... here it is, incase you get it again (might be worth running it on the machine you just cleaned, incase any left-over bits of haxdoor are still present). d/l and install haxfix.exe. It'll ask you to 'Insert the haxdoor notify subkey without the numbers, and then press enter'... basically, one visable part of the rootkit is called random32.dll (or random16.dll for the newer ones) and is set to auto-run by a winlogon/notify reg-entry... so, look in your winlogon/notify key, find the random32.dll, and type the 'random' bit in. eg, in your last example, avpe32.dll was set to run via a winlogon/notify entry, so you'd have entered 'avpe' Then it should fix it for you. If you're feeling in a complaining mood, then, aswell as what cap'n said, you might want to check out http://www.malwarecomplaints.info/index.php It has localised instructions on how to complain about malware/who to complain to, and also acts as a recepticle for complaints, so that they can be monitored by the relevent govournmental agencies. also, if you plonk the IPs up there, somone will either report them or add up a tutorial on how to report bad IP's, so that may do something to get the servers shut down, although tbh haxdoor's set up an IRC network... i dont really know anything about IRC, but its possible (probable?) that the IP's are just other infected machines, rather than the hackers own site. Finally... if this is a work computer, i'd strongly reccomend reformat/reinstall.

on the subject of changing keyboard layout, i really wish that the keypad was on the left side. When typing, its most confortable to have the alphabet-keys directly infront of you, meaning that, with the numpad and the arrow keys etc, the right-hand-side of the keyboard is about 20 feet away from you. and that's where the mouse is. Here's what im talking about: Keyboard--> [_______] O <--mouse Person------> \o______/ see how far you have to streach, due to the fact that the num-pad is on the right? thats the cause of the acheing cramps across your sholders if you use the computer for too long at one time. I retrained to use a mouse with my left hand, and it's sooooo much more confortable when using the comupter for protracted amounts of time, but i cant help thinking that having the num pad on the left would just be easyer. Or having a detachable num-pad, so you can chose where it goes. [/rant]

Im named after that guy who died in return of the jedi (tho i can't remember why... something to do with needing a three-charector name to put into high-score lists of computergames). my avitar's a dragon, cos i like dragons.

you have to pass the quiz, but it's quite easy.

too-shey. But i was more talking about the fact that too many people seem to think 'well, if x is good, then xlots must be uber-mega-super-good. eg: 'calories are bad', 'under-eating and then exersizing is good', 'a body fat index > 0 = bad', 'rapid weight loss is a sign of good health' etc.

blue blood my least favorite myths: anything reguarding diet. most things reguarding sex. 'cloning' of cells is identical to 'cloning' of whole organisms, and neither are something that occour naturally.

Is anyone aware of a restriction enzyme database that is easyer to search than rebase? eg, i want to find a restriction enzyme that... has a recognition sequence that: doesnt start or end in C doesnt contain a CG or GC is palendromic [*]works at 37oC [*]has been sequenced [*]has a methylase that has been sequenced [*]has a methylase that methylates cytosine [*]and prefferably... has a methylase that metylates cytosine somewhere other than carbon-5 is small (both restriction enzyme and methylase) and cuts to leave blunt-ends Now, i dont mind a certain level of reading through lists till i find what i want, but so far, i cant think of anyway to find what i want other than just reading through the list of every enzyme in rebase till i find what i want. which would suck. so, is anyone aware of a restriction-enzyme database that has a better search-feature than rebase?
