  1. We were discussing the factor racism plays in the mindset of Republicans who voted for Trump. This is common sentiment I've heard from Republican speakers and Republicans around me.
  2. Again, I realize this. You're also dealing with people who grew up in the 60's, and believe the Democrats are racist in action, and Republicans are racist in words. And I know, I know, I know, Trump has done and is currently doing numerous Racist things. I'm not saying he isn't. Just that that's what people around me believe. Also, I'm starting to dislike the anonymous downvoting.
  3. I realize this. I just said that's a common thing many people around me believe.
  4. But that's not the question I asked, nor do I think it's a better question as it draws away from what I know. Another note, people I know believe that Democrats are the racist ones, often quoting something LBJ allegedly said. http://www.intellectualtakeout.org/blog/did-lbj-say-ill-have-those-nggers-voting-democratic-200-years
  5. What percentage voted because of racism though? How is that even measured? Is there a control group? 84%, 74%, and 72% would be considered major drivers in my opinion. Did Race have 85% or higher? Additionally, we both have to agree that people have a tendency to excuse what the person they support, even if they'd virtually never excuse that person in person. This happens with Republicans and Democrat's alike. It's not right, I agree that there is no reason to excuse a racist president, but the tendency to excuse your own side doesn't equate to a racist mindset in my mind.
  6. I'm not saying Trump isn't racist. I'm saying that not everyone who voted for Trump or didn't vote at all is Racist. But apparently, 11% of Blacks, 35% of Latinos, and 35% of Asians are Racist. And you're straw manning me. My original point is that calling someone racist just because they don't agree with you is not the best way to convince people to change their mind. "Better technology makes better jobs for horses."
  7. I'm not much of a Trump supporter. Again however. There were African Americans and Hispanics who voted for Trump. Does that automatically mean they're racist bigots? Do they get a free pass? There are more issues in politics than just racism.
  8. I, a 15 year old, voted for a bigot.
  9. Then your assumption is far too narrow. There were so many more issues then just racism at play during the election, you can't possibly tell me you believe they only voted for Trump because they're racists. Have you ever thought that there are more issues at play then how offensive someone can be? Does Abortion ring a bell? Taxes? Economy? Immigration? Healthcare? And you're telling me the absolutely ONLY reason someone would have voted for Trump is if they were 100% Racist?? Do you realize he got African American votes? That he got Hispanic votes? What are they? Racist against themselves? Alienating everyone who doesn't agree with you is not the solution. That is all I'm trying to say. Seriously? That's all you can say? And not everyone who supports a racist supports racism.
  10. Trump didn't win the popular vote.
  11. I'm trying to help solve the problem and remove racist people from office. But if you insist on keeping immature practices such as name-calling and labeling, then there is no point. These people are called racist when they aren't racist at all. So when you tell them they're racist and so is someone else, do you really think they're gonna trust you that the person you're calling racist is racist? You've already made one false accusation out of emotion rather than logic, so why would they believe you on the second? You've removed so much of the power of the word racist. It's no longer just a few extremely hateful people, it's now half the population. So people care a lot less if the president is racist because wo and behold, they happen to be racist too.
  12. That wasn't the point. The point was that if you're trying to get people to switch over to Democrat's side, perhaps you should scream from the rooftops that they're Racist, Sexist, and evil. Voter turnout is the key. You're not making anyone like you more by calling them racist as soon as they disagree with you on one subject. And more and more people's opinions don't align 100% with a party. Yet as soon as someone's opinion differs from the parties, they're a racist, sexist, bigot and people like you make sure they know that's how you feel about them. And that decreases voter turnout. But hey, by all means. Help the Racist Republicans keep their jobs. You need to understand the concept that just because all insects are bugs, not all bugs are insects. In reality, it is not so much them being apologists for a racist, or supporting them, that makes you think they're racist. It's that they don't agree with you 100% on a particular subject. If someone's old grandpa says something racist and the grandson apologizes to someone for it, does that make the grandson racist?
  13. Really? It seems more like a complaint thread so far. Actually, Trump supporters were actively called racist, sexist, bigots, white-supremacists, etc. I myself was called racist and sexist at my school. If their attempt was to sway the opposition by calling them names and telling them they're evil, they failed miserably. So change it from "Anyone that is offended by people ACCURATELY calling out racist" to "Anyone that is offended by people calling them racist" and you'll be correct. This is easy to test. Walk up to someone and politely suggest they're uneducated and they'll be mildly offended. Scream across the road at people walking down the road calling them sexist, racist, nazis, and they'll be largely offended. So, I'll do something that is frowned upon by some people. I'll use common sense and decide suggesting they're uneducated is better than calling the racist, sexist, nazis. Yes. Perhaps instead of calling the people who voted for Republicans because Democrats insisted on calling them racist, you should just call the Republicans in office racist.
  14. I think the whole idea of deporting them is ridiculous and is not what I support. Additionally, from what I can gather from Republicans who live around me, they think it's ridiculous too. I have addressed this already. I am not dodging anything. One more time. I find the idea of deporting legal immigrants ridiculous, stupid, and idiotic. Now stop suggesting that I want to deport legal immigrants. What immoral position? Care to elaborate on how evil I am? Yes. And I think we should line up all the illegal immigrants and march them out of the country at gunpoint. That's the type of immoral position I hold. I never said anything like "I don't think we should take a fire and fury standpoint on them. But I think we should prioritize legal immigrants first." That's totally not what I said. I totally don't believe we should help illegal immigrants as well as legal immigrants, but prioritize legal immigrants and discourage illegal immigrants. Because that'd be another totally immoral position.
  15. I refuse to accept the ideology that you're either for or against us. One or the other. Good or bad. Us versus them. The United States has been fractured, and it's more divided than ever before. In part, because of the belief that if someone doesn't agree with you then they must be everything you disagree with. Politics are far more dynamic than only two sides. And I've made my point clear. I have no problem with legal immigration. I'd also like to see it increase, and made easier for people to immigrate. Yet, because I don't agree with you on everything, you're suggesting I'm complicit in letting racism grow and strengthen. I shouldn't have to actively denounce racism everytime I say something that puts me on a different side than yours. I even agree with you on many major points including the fact that immigration is a benefit to our economy. But I still say that illegal immigration is illegal. And while I don't think we should take a fire and fury stance on them, I think we should prioritize helping legal immigrants.
  16. And just because what they say, do, and support can be vaguely aligned with racists doesn't mean they support racism. Again, I've made my point, and their point, clear. They don't think we should deport legal immigrants and they've actively said that and complained about it.
  17. And I've made my opinion on this clear already.
  18. Is DACA not funded?
  19. Alright. So while your definition of plausible deniability is someone not being able to answer a question but we don't know if she actually knew or not. My definition does not include that.
  20. I believe our definitions of plausible deniability are very different.
  21. Thank you. This holds for the entire United States, not just California right? I mostly agree, but what do you mean by gentle justice? My opinion also lies in the fact there are resources designated to helping immigrants. If we divert a portion of those resources to helping illegal immigrants other then those who didn't have a choice but to come here, that's unfair to legal immigrants.
  22. What does this have to do with it? Google has photos showing where Trump appears taller than people who are supposed to be taller than him. Sure, decades of photos make him seem shorter. If you pick out all the ones that don't make him seem shorter. Now, I'll gladly link several photos if you insist, but in the effort of not clogging this thread with images, you could google them yourself. Additionally, I don't really care about this thread anymore.
  23. Looking at that it seems like it's referencing to legal immigrants, could you point to which chapter and/or study dealing with illegal immigrants crime rates? It could. But it'd only work if you agreed to not deport someone if they're blackmailed. At which point in my mind, it becomes counter-intuitive. I'd much rather see illegal immigration discouraged. I'm proposing to make it easier to get into the country while allowing more people in a year. Making there even less of a reason to immigrate illegally.
  24. That may be true for the criminal, but clearly, you have to note someone who came here illegally is more likely to commit crimes. If they're here illegally they're blackmailed, scammed, and numerous other terrible things simply because they can't really go to the authorities for help because they're here illegally. If anything we should make the immigration process easier, increase the number of immigrants allowed a year, but keep the idea that illegal immigration is illegal. If you're an American Citizen you're an American. That's the position virtually everyone I know holds, and they're virtually all Republicans. Just because they're against illegal immigration does not make them racist.
  25. Huh. That's funny. Where I'm at we don't even take our shoes off. And I'm in the US. Again, previous arguments by sensei and I point to the simple fact there are a lot of variables you'd have to consider. Pictures are NOT an accurate representation. Additionally, how do you know it's not the driver's license that was wrong? Ultimately, I feel like there are much more important things for the media to focus on. But whatever grabs the headlines........
